Author Commentary
This is the oldest chapter. The art will get better, but this is how BCB started!
It’s the first of BCB’s many art styles — and the most simplistic.
I started the comic late one night while cramming for a psychology class. Making comics of all these old characters of mine just to keep myself awake. After I posted a few chapters online, people started following the comic and I realised I should put more effort into the art.
So, as much as I’d like to update all these older parts of the story, I gotta ask you to bear with the original art for a while.
And yes, you’re going to see a lot more of Lucy being a big jerk as time goes on.

sometimes i think u should revert back to this style of drawing, it may not look profensional but it looks immensly cute (especially lucy at sqr 3)

To be honest, I kinda liked the comic more back when it was like this. Don’t get me wrong, I still love BCB with a BURNING, FIERY PASSION THAT FILLS EVERY ATOM OF MY BEING, but I just… I kinda miss when things were more lighthearted. That’s what seperated it from most other high school life/romance webcomics in my opinion; even in the darkest times of despair, there was always something to cheer you up. The pets in particular, who I always thought brought so much life to the comic, played a big part in this. I’m not saying BCB’s dead or anything. It’s still a wonderful comic. And the art is a billion times better now. But, well, I just kinda wish things weren’t so depressing all the time now. I’m okay with the angsty stuff, but I really miss the times where that angst was contrasted with more little lighthearted bits.

Honestly, I still think the comics from here to volume 2 are really great; skipping them would be a shame. The drawings are still mostly recognizable

I love current BCB but I enjoy a lot of the older comics too. The art is still full of charm even if it’s not as polished, and the stories are fun. I hope they at least continue to stay up, it’d be a shame if they were ever taken off.
