Actually, on the note of names, I’m continually disappointed that Paulo isn’t spelled Paolo.

So, wanting us to shut up about never having the parents on screen? Or just the whole bawling pregnancy dramastorm amongst the audience? I wonder…

Hmm, come to think of it… I think Paulo’s Dad is right, since I recall seeing some figures that suggest it’s about a 60% chance of not getting preggers just from regular sex (I believe this is if conditions are such that pregnancy can occur due to being close enough to when the egg’s around).

Eggs only survive for so long, and if Lucy wasn’t just being a complete idiot and it actually is around her period… Gah, it’s been too long since I had sex ed, bloody menstrual cycle minutia…

So, it’s likely she’s in her luteal phase rather than the ovulatory, and eggs don’t last very long for humans at least, apparently disintegrating in the fallopian tubes after either one or two days. Combine that with how stressful her life is normally combined with the added stress of her new drama…

Actually, I wouldn’t be surprised if Lucy commonly would have delayed or missed cycles, given how high strung she is.

Then again, cat people. So…. *shrug* Spent too much time and thought on this anyway.

Can this really be a daydream? A daydream implies that the dreamer is awake and is simply playing a scenario in his or her head. That being said, how can Paulo’s dad in this daydream, a figment of Paulo’s imagination for this imaginary scenario, know something that Paulo himself didn’t know? The idea of such happening is illogical!

If this were a dream where Paulo was asleep, such might be able to happen since the subconscious is capable of knowing things the dreamer does not know in real life.

Paulo’s dad only sounds WISE to me.. first of all the stairs metaphore sounds to me just as “do not go crazy before you even know for sure”, on second stance he uses such a brutal expression to make a contrast with the reality and let them realise that perhaps their situation is just not the end of the world. He has seen enough of the life to know that most of what we consider “normal” for our lives is just custom, but not necessarily best, and what seems to “destroy” normality in our lives is often just a change, maybe even for the better. Isn’t it the whole point of this arc to show an alternative that might have been not so bad?
