Wow really good, I like it. However, I’m disappointed there wasn’t a official BCB comic. And having to wait till Friday to get back to the story is torture. My favorite part about these comics is that Klux-the-killer’s comic was posted on my birthday and made it the best birthday ever!

I’m sorry, but I got all excited when I saw a decent little animation in the beginning of Lucy walking away crying. The I was disappointed by what followed…

The ending was hilarious. Also, random image popped out of the candy bowl made me laugh xP. Nonetheless, the movie is quite hilarious =P

Personally I’m not sure if kids should read BCB, considering the fact that it has been using swear words since the very beginning (although it is probably inappropriate of adults to be reading this comic).

@Jojo: this kid is the little kid of a forum members (DrNoyd) roommate. i got dr. noyd to help me with this and damien was explained the basic concept of bcb and shown some pages. he is 6, he does not read the comic, or care about it at all.

I disagree with Jojo. The longer a child can go without saying curse words (depending on how they were raised) could mean that they’re sheltered. Curse words are only bad because people make them bad.

Where, in any religion is swearing a sin? or bad for you? every curse word invented is made bad by us. If someone were to suddenly start saying, “Flap is a curse word!” and use it in a derogatory way, and people actually believed the person, Flap would become a curse word. Words can’t be bad, that’s pretty much it.

You can say the F word and the D word or the B word or whatever kids call them, and grow up to be a great person. as annoying as it is to hear the words in every sentence they aren’t really bad words, just believed to be bad.

*spits out drink* EHHHHH?! You completely tricked us that yesterday was the last guest comic….then again this is a guest flash movie. However since this is a flash movie I am going to have to judge it a lot more harsher than usual. The reason is that I judge flash movies constantly on Newground’s, so I will be over critical, sarcastic, and will bicker at the smallest of details. As a word of warning, I am in no way judging the BCB series at all, just the quality of the flash that I am viewing! So here we go:

Right off the bat the animation was completely smooth on Lucy and the art work was very good, and from that I could tell that this person had some previous experience with flash animation. That scene alone set the bar to what I expect the rest of the flash would be, however once the title screen ended the art work had drastically changed and it felt like I was completely watching a different flash movie. Its is the equivalent of watching a Pixar movie that only had the beginning in 3D while the rest of the movie was in 2D without any kind of obvious or subtle hint that the movie would be in 2D, the impact would hurt a lot less if the flash didn’t lie to me at the beginning. The little kid that was narrating did a pretty good job at giving a quick description of the BCB cast, their personality, and their relationship status. Also with the combination of the chalky art work, the simple animation, and the kids voice helps makes the hole flash more pleasing, and it fits perfectly with those three elements. From that I forgive its sudden jump in animation and art, but I immediately ripped and burned the forgiveness card when the flash revealed its troll face and put two random images on the flash, it was very sudden and unexpected and because of that the flash trips at the finish line and instead of getting 2nd place it gets 3rd place in its run. Ok to be fair I though the first image was funny since it makes fun of the comics name, but the second image should go back to the depths of 4Chan.

Overall this flash is surprisingly good (boarder line decent) in my eyes, in fact I would give it a 3/5. The only thing holding it back is its art Identity crisis, it can’t decide to be Professional, Simple, or Trolling(a.k.a random pictures). Just for future references just stick to one art style throughout the flash, and if you do want to change the art style during the flash do it gradually and slowly, and not suddenly and unexpectedly, that way the viewer would be more accepting to the new art style and they wouldn’t be to harsh on the flash.

I’m sorry, I really am, but that was bad. The ending was funny, but really, it’s like putting icing on a turd. I wasn’t expecting much initially until I saw the intro, at that point I expected the rest of the flash to be animated similarly. That’s the problem, dropping in stick figures after a awesome intro. Get’s your hopes up then kicks you in the groin. If the intro had been in chalk/stick figures I probably would have enjoyed it.

A little forewarning would have been nice. During the whole thing I was thinking the chalk/stick figures was just a prelude to the real movie, then showing the animation previously used in the intro. Like the opening scene for the movie Priest or the opening of Hellboy: The Golden Army.

O. M. G. This is one of the funniest things I have seen in a long time. The amount of work and love that went into this is pretty obvious so I’m not sure what some peoples’ problem is. I can speculate but that’s not going to end well.

This has made me laugh when I thought I’d not be laughing for quite some time. And the reason why it works is because it’s based on BCB. I would suggest every new reader start there and they will be in good stead to read BCB.

This movie was epic win. Quite possibly the best thing I’ve seen this week!

Um, in my opinion, it tries to be epic during the beggining credits, and it ruined the mood when it started, plus, as a side note, if this voice was heard in a Team Fortress 2 lobby, there would be muting galore. Best part was the candy bowl, mostly because i love candy.

P.S., I have no idea if this is a joke or not, so im treating it as if it was not meant to be, so go easy on me. Oh, and Mikexlucy, the last picture was of 2 cats…….um…..well, “doing” it.

To be honest, i when i saw the beginning i couldnt take it that much serious and when the kid talked it was okay.

But what makes it really epic is the picture in the end i wasnt prepared for this, that was just great.

See, usually, I’d be ****** off at people like Susan, thankfully I’m a bit more intelligent than to just let someone waltz over me in an attempt to be an obvious complete bitch, be it troll or not.

Ofcourse, everyone understands this is a joke, people reacting differently is probably what they announce to be ‘Trolls’. This concept, /Trolls/, is something you should study more on, as your unintelligent redneck figure you just so lovely portrayed onto others, could very much well be a self-image casted out to other viewers.

I’m quite sure everyone loves this little flick, as the little boy was cute, but then again, there will be people that are dissapointed as they were anticipating something ‘worth watching.’

The usual youtube response would be ‘I want 5 minutes of my life back.’ As that was, very much alike how I felt at that same point of the ending of the movie, although it was funny and cute and very well gave a good summary of the comic, albeit less funny and stuffed with details as the real thing.

Alike myself, I was more waiting on an epic story about romance, sadness, fear and angst as teenagers are known for and the main story portrays very well. Unfortunately, I am also dissapointed that something like that may never be. Yet I choose not to reply like a ‘Troll’, but more of a sincere, formally correct kind of person, which may or may not have anything to do with my current mood.

No, this is a trolly movie and we should ignore it for the mediocre sophmoric crap prank it is. As I intend to post-postmaking.

I like stupid humor, I do. ****** art sure can be a good part of that. But this just… wasn’t funny. It had a few small funny moments (See the same two lines everyone is spamming the board with), but it was overall ‘why am I watching this?’

I can only assume that’s why it’s so ‘hilarious’ to Snooths, Taeshi, and the others. Because it’s ‘not funny’.

Longtime reader, first time poster, all that good stuff.

This is an absolutely brilliant flash. Can I just mention that I love the little stick kitties? Tess’ dyed hair and Mike’s little scarf… aweh.

I love how this sums it up with a little kid, I guess it kind of shows that all the problems and drama the cast goes through can be summarized in a way even a kid can understand, because, well, that’s life! It’s just the author who takes that basic concept and embellishes upon it.

Anyway, Snooths, excellent job, love the expert narration. (; All these guest comics have been lovely, there’s some great art styles out there.

alright, I understand that most of the people here have never met snooths, and have no understanding of his humor. i’ll do my best to describe him.
snooths is a fan of sarcastic, ironic, controversial, edgy, and contradictory humor.
now, this may be a poor description, as it is always impossible to sum someone up in a sentence, but finding the humor in this video is a lot easier once you know him. in fact, almost all of the regular forumites or IRC goers who know snooths loved it.

now, one last thing. if you dont like it. fine. not your cup of tea. but don’t go writing stupid long comments.

Susan is right in this case, this is exactly what should be expected as soon as Snooths is mentioned. If you don’t know Snooths, I can understand your disappointment, but anyone should be able to realize that this was just made to be funny, not to create and epic summary of the entire comic thus far. I appreciate your trying to sound dignified, but veiling insults behind fancy words doesn’t make you any less of a jerk.

Actually, if someone’s going to post a critical comment, I would prefer a long one. When people post “WHAT THE %^?& KINDA $#!% WAS THAT” etc, I tend to think, “Why didn’t you just go to another site about 1 minute into the movie while you still had your sanity?”
On the other hand, someone who takes the time to explain why they didn’t like something is much more intelligent and if you can’t deal with reading why someone doesn’t like something that you liked, then I must ask the same question you asked them: “Why do you take the time to post if you didn’t like it?” After all: Haters, gonna hate!
But seriously, constructive criticism is usually fairly positive (as in the case of KZero). I feel much the same way. It felt like there was too much dead air between the jokes. I feel like if I’d known Snooths better, I might have gotten the humor a little more. But you can’t blame me (not knowing Snooths) for feeling like there was something lacking.
That being said, the perfect place for this video was here, where the most people will get enjoyment from it.

I don’t know what you all are talking about, this is a cinematic masterpiece. Everyone who’s working on some sort of BCB movie or animated series (that’s three groups as far as I know) might as well just stop now, since they cannot hope to match the skill displayed here.

I personally found this cute and funny. It made me chuckle at a few points.

To be honest, to all the people complaining about the “stick figures” I was truly expecting a two second animation after all those credits and then a big fat “THE END” slide to roll on the screen. That’s what usually happens when credits are that long on a video like this.

You don’t like the kid calling David “Daniel?” Why don’tcha cut ‘im a break? I read ALL the comments on here before commenting myself, and I read at one point the little guy’s six years old. He can probably barely read, let alone surf the internet and keep up with this comic on a weekly basis. It’s obvious he didn’t know who David is (or at least not enough to remember his name), and for pete’s sake, he at least got the other characters’ names down correctly.

I also happened to run across a few comments saying adults shouldn’t read this comic—to which I must respond, ULTRA LE GASPETH! Because #1, I’m 18 going on 19 in just two months now, making me fit in the category of ‘adult’ under U.S. law, and #2, ADULTS WRITE THE COMIC.
Think about it.
My Little Pony, Strawberry Shortcake, Care Bears, all those kiddy things that teenagers and adults “shouldn’t be watching cuz dat’s for kidz!!!1!”…those things are all produced by (shocker of shockers) entire COMPANIES of adult workers of both the male and female sexes! And the adults were the ones who thought up the ideas!
In any case this comic isn’t even for LITTLE kids, it’s for the teenage group for its intended audience. And I believe it’s rather childish to say that adults shouldn’t read things for teenagers, because that’s falling into the category of “grown ups don’t watch/read baby things, if they do that then that’s embarrassing for them!!!1!”
The thing about adults is, they don’t care if things are “embarrassing” any more, because adulthood is about NOT letting other people peer pressure you into not liking the things you enjoy. They don’t just give up the things they loved as kids and teens just because they hit “adult” age (unless they aren’t mature enough to realize that being adult doesn’t mean giving up the hobbies that influenced your personality as you grew TO adulthood). They just have a more mature way of looking at the so-called “kiddy” things.

Heck, my sister’s 30 years old and she and her husband still collect Winnie-the-Pooh things. And me? I’ll never stop being a My Little Pony fan just because “it’s for babies!!!1!” (even though at this point, with the appearance of Friendship is Magic, it’s becoming socially acceptable for adults to be fans of this franchise again!)

So yeah, the comic’s for teenagers. But no matter how old I get I’m still going to be reading the comic pages every time they come out. I don’t care what anyone says about it.

Wow, just wow. I must say I’m horribly disappointed. And I’m not even talking about the flash. Yeah, it was a crap movie, that’s my opinion of it. Live with it. No, what I’m so disappointed in is the comments. And no, I’m not talking about the fact that nearly everyone praised it like it’s a work of art when looks to me like it took very little effort, and yes I know that’s also my opinion. But this comment board is full of opinions, and they’re going to differ. What disappointed me was the immaturity of it all. First off, criticism is a good thing. I’m sick of all the people acting as though anyone who dares blaspheme the holiness of this movie with a negative opinion has some sort of serious problem and isn’t welcome to speak. Any artist who actually wants to be good should welcome criticism and criticism shouldn’t be discouraged. Second, those people who not only act like the criticizers have a problem, but lash out at them angrily, you’re horribly immature. They did nothing to you personally, and you’ve no reason to attack them. They’re not stupid. They have a right to dislike the movie. Sure, if they take their dislike out on everyone who does like it, then defend yourself. But you don’t have to go on an all out verbal assault on them like Susan up there. That’s just immature and obnoxious. (If Susan reads this, she’ll likely lash out angrily and call me obnoxious for daring to call her obnoxious). Third, after reading some of the comments, I’m getting the impression that the creator of the movie has a specific style of humor and that this is typical of him. One person, (Chris, I think it was?) explained it pretty well. Thank you, that was a very helpful comment. But guess what, I’m new to the comic. I just started it a couple days ago and loved it, and proceeded to read the whole thing thus far over the past couple of days. I get to the last comic only to find it’s a movie! Needless to say I was excited and expected an honest tribute to the series that captured the spirit of the comic. The author comments seemed to suggest she thought the movie did just that. It was quite the opposite, obviously. And so people criticize people like me for expecting anything else. But please, how am I supposed to know the creators style? There’s no need to look down on newcomers for not knowing the specific style of humor of a particular member of the community. Furthermore, those saying that if I knew his style, I’d appreciate this flash, that’s not true. I’m very familiar with the style. Ever heard of the site Newgrounds? It has tons of flash movies of varied styles, but the one shown by the creator of this movie is one of the most common styles I’ve seen on the site. I see it all the time, and I hate it. I always have. I understand that a lot of people really love the style, but I don’t. Save for a handful of artists like this who can do it in a tasteful way that has actually made me laugh and enjoy, I generally find the entire style to be crap. I don’t need to know the artist and his style to know that I simply don’t like his humor. I don’t like it when people use stick figures, especially when they’re obviously capable of more. Yeah, I get that it’s irony. Go ahead and praise his use of irony if you want, but I’m going to criticize it. Please respect that. And the next time you see a movie and don’t like something about it, feel free to comment about that. Tell the author you don’t like it. Good artists get better from criticism. It’s a GOOD thing. And you know what? If I see your comment, I’ll respect it too, even if I disagree with the criticism.

And yes, long comment is long and will probably receive the same criticism as the rest of the comments that either exceed a certain length, contain criticism about the movie, or comment on the behavior of other people. Oh well, I felt like it needed to be said.

I think that upon encountering destructive criticism, a good person would/should shrug it off and ignore it.

I was in fact quite disappointed in this when I first saw it, although after having read comments and learning context, I can at lease appreciate it slightly more.

Hey friends, I’d like to say a few things.

@All the people talking about how the kid messed up:
Chill out, the kid is 6 years old. I DrNoyd to get his roomates kid and explain to him the basic premise of the comic and have him restate it. I told him to keep any mistakes the kid made, or any awkward pauses, or anything that made it more childlike and authentic. He doesn’t know anything about BCB and couldn’t care less. He can probably barely even read. I thought the mistake he made calling David “Daniel” was pretty funny and really adorable and I thought he did a very good job summarizing the comic with what he was given.

@Everyone in general:
This movie was meant to be a “disappointment”, obviously. You were to watch the first few seconds of animation with a painted background and assume the rest of the movie would be as good, and the needlessly drawn out credits were only to reinforce this fact.

However, you got a silly 6 year old reading his summary of the comic with Fats Waller playing in the background. I mean, as far as “disappointments” go, I think that’s not too bad! It’s more an unexpected twist than a real disappointment, and I knew many people would be angry, and lots would just be surprised and have a laugh at how ridiculous it was. I’m glad it went over the heads of a lot of you, because it was made with that in mind, but also made with the awareness that what I was doing was going to be appreciated by those who take things less seriously.

This movie came about when Suitcase suggested I make a cartoon after seeing some of the goofy toons I make for the IRC and said he would appreciate something other than the “HA-HA OH THAT DAVID lol so wacky epic ***** sex jokes xD”-humor, and was willing to try something different and mess with the community a bit. I thought a bit about what would provoke some of the community, while entertain others who didn’t take things quite so serious, and came up with this.

In short: It ****** off the people I wanted to **** off">********, and entertained those I didn’t. I’m proud of it, and the negative and confused comments have only made it better. The whole thing has been a rousing success, and I am quite satisfied with how everything has gone.

With this in mind, know it was not a “Troll movie”, and I’m not a troll. It was not made with any intent to really antagonize people, but I was well aware it would. Sort of like everything I’ve ever said or done on this ****ing forum.

I feel it is only fair to respond to your “criticism”, seeing as you spent a lot of time typing that text-wall up.

Lots of people are defending this, because really, the idea that you’d really be disappointed and annoyed at such a silly harmless goof movie, is pretty ridiculous. There’s no criticism anyone has really offered besides the other guy who was like “I GO TO NEWGROUNDS A LOT SO I JUDGE FLASH MOVIES HARSHLY” (which is ****ing laughable considering the quality of some of the **** that gets popular on Newgrounds). He also mentioned that it showed it’s “troll face” by including “random images” at the end, such as a bowl of assorted candy after the question is asked “Is that why it’s called Bittersweet Candy Bowl?” (very random and unexpected), and that the movie couldn’t decide what it wanted to be, when it was quite calculated. Other than this, not one person with a negative opinion on the film has offered any sort of criticism besides “this sux”.

Believe it or not, a lot of thought and time was put into making this. I talked to a few people to try and find the audio I needed and spent time making sure the intro looked very convincing and getting Lucy’s movements right and painting the background, and then spent time getting the actual “movie” compiled. Considering all of this, I probably spent more time on this than anyone else spent on their guest feature.

While I may be well-known on the forums for having an off-beat sense of humor and enjoying screwing with people, the humor in this movie shouldn’t have to be explained to you. You were expecting something, and got something else. Isn’t that the very essence of humor, being able to appreciate the unexpected and strange? It may be easier to understand the movie once you have spoken to me and understand that I take very little seriously and am quite light-hearted about the things I say and do, but the humor behind this movie is relatively easy to grasp. You thought you were getting an epic movie, and you got a first grader giving you a summary of the comic with childish drawings, it’s really not that difficult to comprehend. If you got it, then congrats. If you didn’t, then you’re part of the joke and also, congrats.

Comparing this to the majority of Newgrounds spam flash is, I feel, quite unfair. I’ve been on Newgrounds since 2006 or so, and I know what you’re talking about, and even submitted my fair share of it (I no longer go there). While it’s the same bait-n-switch concept as a lot of those movies, the switch here is used more effectively and has more pay-off than that of a generic spam flash. Here, I feel that you still get humor and content, just not the kind you thought you would, as with other flashes it is expecting humor and content and getting nothing but a spinning tween of a duck gif. In this case, the only real joke is the audience and it’s reaction, while the actual content (or lack of) in the cartoon doesn’t really play a part in the humor other than being hilariously pointless, while this cartoon certainly has a point and certainly has content, just a different kind.

The poor art and animation in the movie wasn’t poor for irony’s sake, it was meant to look childish, to fit the narration. It was supposed to look like the comic from the perspective of a very young child, and criticizing it for being poor and of a low-quality is really quite silly.

Good artists may get better from criticism, but you clearly do not understand the intentions behind the movie or why it exists, and have provided no real criticism on my work. So thank you, but taking this into account (also the fact that you go to Newgrounds HAHAHAA), I will choose to disregard your opinion on the movie and diagnose it as invalid and continue to giggle at the comments.

Contradictory. Annoying people on purpose while amusing yourself is pretty much what a troll is and does. This. Was. Troll. Mostly due to the intro and the overall lack of entertainment- a few lines doesn’t make it ‘funny’.

However I’m not an idiot, it was obvious that quality work was put into it. Good auido, frame rate, clear- and clearly intentional- jokes and art. All that stuff.

I simply didn’t like it myself, which I’m sure you enjoy (troll). It was a silly little recap and really if I wanted to have a six year old explain things to me I’d visit my sister and babysit.

To be perfectly honest, I’m happy it isn’t a full length movie. I feel there are comics that would do really well animated and voiced, but then there are some that should just be left to the comic-medium due to how they flow. This comic has always felt like the latter to me.

I liked it. It was cute. Although, I do feel as if the author was trollin’ for a bit… The opening credits dragged on, and the comparassion of the beginning and the sudden chalk doodles… AIE!

Seems to be a bit of a double standard here. If you like the movie, it’s apparently encouraged to comment. If you don’t, you “build a bridge and get over it”… People have different senses of humor. Not finding it funny doesn’t mean your own happens to be defective.

Personally, I had to close the movie fairly early into the narration. It didn’t work for me. Maybe I’m not the intended audience. Still, more maturity than decrying anyone who dislikes it would be appreciated.

The animation was alright. Especially the little scene with Lucy at the beginning. But the narration made me impatient. It was said so slowly and I don’t like the voice. Dx I don’t know how the animator found the motivation to animate along to it. I think people should stick to slightly older speakers…

Oh, I got the joke. I just found it unfunny. Considering you created it, I find it regrettable that you’re approaching this just as immaturely as quite a few others, if not more. Not everyone is going to like what you do. Accept it, or never create anything.

The beginning animation was awesome. The chalkboard-told story was unexpected, but still very cute. Though the pictures at the end were uncalled for .

did anybody see when the candy bowl was fading out, it showed a picture of two cats labled “F**K YOU”? But they had the actually word. Also it looked like the cats were having sex.
