Lucy’s a jerk? Must be why she got the hell beaten out of her protecting a downed Mike. When Daisy kept screaming, what did Lucy do? She told her to keep quiet and run. She was fully willing to go down alone to keep her friends safe until she was almost out of hope. Then she silently asked for Mike’s help. She isn’t a jerk and anyone who can’t tell by now either paid no attention to chapter 12 or ignored it completely. Chapter 12. Confrontation. This one loves this comic and does notice how often people bring up how deserved everything is for Lucy. Psh.

@ Hoheh: i so agree with you on defending Lucy from the H8ers. not only dose she prove her true colors in chapter 12, but we’ve also seen through fashbacks that she acted the way she did because of her lonely childhood. she probably should have stopped with that attitude sooner but habits are hard to break.

also if you think about it, when they were still in junior high it didn’t seem like anyone tried to really get to know Lucy on there own. yeah, i mean ppl asked why she was so terrified of water, and we find out more about her personality when we find out how she & mike got their “pets” but if you really think about it Daisy didn’t even like Lucy (she tolerated her) she only hung around Lucy because Mike was always with her, David (comic relief though he may be) liked Lucy for her looks, Sue was super smart but mostly doing her own thing, and Paulo…well he liked her and wanted to be friend but he had that playa’ mentality, and we find out through flashback chapters that Sandy (when she was around) was nice to Lucy maybe if Mike wasn’t hogging Sandys attention she and Lucy may have become good friends.

so really before high school Lucy’s only friend was Mike, all the competition and abuse was her “insecure” way of making sure that he payed attention to her.

@ The Demon: everybody is different though…it’s great that you were able to over come your difficulties…but we are all a product of our environment to some extent. I had a bit of social issues myself when I was a kid…it helped having a brother close to my age to play with (didn’t develop a dependency, but it helped me develop skill when I met people that I was compatible with). What is Lucy’s relationship with Jordan like I wonder?

Yeah, Lucy was a jerk, but only because of her terrible childhood. She had one friend, Mike, who then promptly blew her off all the time to be with Sandy. Of course she would crave and seek his attention, it was all she had. And it’s not like I expect Mike to leave Sandy for her, that wouldn’t be right either, but the least he can do is try to help and console her, damn it, show some support!

I don’t think ignoring Lucy is very mature Mike, and frankly, if Lucy could find support and love in a different place, I’d be all for it. She deserves it, and at this point, I don’t know if Mike deserves to be with Lucy.

I like the dedication towords the comic, for example, the flowers in the backround of the second panel with Daisy. No one would pay attention to that sort of thing, but taeshi even puts something as insignificant as that into the background. Awsome job.

Seriously I think close to everyone is overreacting on this. Firstly because Mike probably has a sur-pryze planned for later, and secondly because even if he doesn’t, Lucy has done next to nothing to ‘deserve’ him. Even if she had, he wouldn’t be bound to date her or to even like her. Lucy is almost entirely to blame for this messy little on/off friendship.

For some reason, I’m reminded of the current political situation in America, with people blaming the current president for things caused by another president’s mistakes. Hurp-de-derp. Guess stupidity is indiscriminate.

You know, I think Mike has forgotten that Lucy is a much, much more complex character than he gives her credit for. I doubt he’s ignoring her on purpose, but if he is, he really isn’t much better than she was. At least now she’s trying not to be so dependent and so violent for no reason. Mike seems to just see her as an annoying nuisance still, even though she’s improved a LOT since 8th and 9th grade. Honestly, he’s being stupidly stubborn. He refuses to see that Lucy has changed, and thus still treats her like she’s a burden on his life. Even if he doesn’t have any love interest in her, he could at least be a good friend to her. I don’t think we’ve seen any of that in the past few chapters.

Anyway, my two cents. P: Move along.

As Lucy becomes nicer overall, Mike becomes more spiteful. What a disconcerting turn of events. Like when Mike brought up the confession he turned down simply to make Lucy feel guilty. Mike seems to become a jerk when Sandy is in the picture. Anyone else notice that? He met Sandy, he completely ignored Lucy. He gets back in touch with Sandy, his spitefulness kicks in. No, Sandy isn’t to blame. She probably doesn’t even remember anyone but Maishul and Daisy of the cast.

@Hoheh, My best guess is that he is like uncontrollably in love with Sandy, he needs to learn to give up that “first crush” thing because hes letting it rule his life apparently. Now he obviously has feelings for Lucy but he feels like hes betraying Sandy if he got in a relationship with her. I guess we’ll have to wait and see XP
