I recently found BSCB on the internet and spent the last 2 days reading all the chapters first off i wanna knock some damn sense into mike because hes being a selfish ***** at first i wanted him a lucy to be together but he doesnt even deserve her now but on a similar note i know that this conflicts exist to keep us reading because as long as there is hope well keep reading all the while screaming HOOK UP DAMNIT on another similar not this is all partly lucy’s fault if she had jumped on mike sooner he wouldnt have gone to sandy she has a classic psychology of if i can have it i dont want it but if i cant i must have it. i dont know if this is what you were aiming for but even so i love your comic keep up the good work : )

I dont think Mike gets how badly hes hurting her man. He may be seeming like a jerk to alot of people but in my opinion hes not being a jerk, he was being honest when he rejected her and it couldve ended up MUCH worse if hes lied to make her happy.

I dunno, different personalities, I guess. I tend to forgive people very quickly, so if I were Mike, I’d probably forgive Lucy. After all, they did have some good times together. Lucy wasn’t constantly abusive to him, and he did seem genuinely happy to be friends with her sometimes in the first few chapters (and before that).

Look at Daisy, he got ****ING ******, but then when they got together and made an effort to put it behind them and be friends, they chilled. It’s not in Mike’s character to be angry without reason, nor is it in his character to be a jerk.

I kinda wonder what comic everyone else has been reading bc everyone seems to want to beat up Mike right now. I don’t understand that at all. Apparently, Mike isn’t allowed to have feelings or be upset about the abuse he’s had to endure all those years, but Lucy is allowed to crap all over him and beat him down all she wants just because saying “I care about you” is too embarrassing. I can’t see how this is anything but Lucy’s fault for waiting too long to admit anything, and now that Mike isn’t available (emotionally or otherwise), everyone wants to kill him for rejecting her and her shenanigans.

He’s tired of being used, people! Lucy isn’t the only one who’s hurting right now and it’s not fair to expect Mike to always be the one who forgives and apologizes. I, too, hope that they talk today, but not because Mike feels obligated to cheer her up.

I’m kinda hating mike… Actually, I’ve been hating him for quite a few chapters… I hate that he made Lucy look like this… I really, really really hope she can move on and find happiness… And then I hope sandy dumps mike and he ends up alone and Lucy rejects his begging for forgiveness.

Okay, I can understand that Mike can be upset because Lucy’s been treating him like crap over the past few years (euphemism?). At the same time, I cannot genuinely sympathize with the guy. I mean, nobody (I think) expects him to reciprocate Lucy’s feelings (shush, oh ye shippers, this post is not about romance). But saying “I don’t love you back” is one thing, and deliberately ignoring a friend on their birthday is another.

I don’t know, I really liked Mike in the beginning, but he really is a jerkface. I like Sandy, though, because she was always fair to Lucy and wanted her to hang out with them. Maybe Mike is right about Lucy needing him, but it could also be said about him that he doesn’t need her… Let me explain. They hung out until he met Sandy. Then Lucy stopped being useful to him. Then Sandy left, so he needed a replacement. (Remember when she kissed him, he did like it.) Then Mike called Sandy and clarified their situation, so his relationship with Lucy went back to just friends, because Sandy was more real than before. Or am I reading it wrong?

Hearing that debate was like salting the wound, reminding him of everything he suffered from her. Personally I think ignorance is not enough, as she deserves much more pain and suffering than that. I get it, and I’m not trying to justify what Lucy did to Mike at all, but still… She isn’t the worst kind of person there is. I had an… acquaintance who was (and still probably is) a real jerk, and I totally mean it. Basically, he’s got a real low self-esteem and treats others like **** because of his ridiculously big ego (yes, ego and self-esteem are two different things and their levels can be opposite too). What I’m trying to say is, Lucy sometimes is quite harsh on Mike or others (understatement yet again), but it’s her form of defense she learned back in kindergarten (or was is primary school?). Okay, here’s the thing: Lucy hurts others, but at the same time she also hurts herself. Some people just hurt others and don’t give a ****. Lucy is driving down the Nervous Breakdown Highway, and Mike has (intentionally or not) damaged the brakes and removed the safety rails.

Oh, and revenge is hardly ever a good option. Mostly it doesn’t give you the satisfaction you expect, and you only end up hurting more people. And thus the chain reaction continues.

True, but let’s take a look form a different perspective. As readers we know exactly what Lucy’s going through. I doubt anyone in the comic realizes how deep her problems go. She was acting like a selfish bitch towards Mike, and from his point of view she would be just that.

After all she put him through, Mike has full right to completely ignore Lucy. After all, it’s the best way of dealing with such people.

Yes, they’ve been friends for a long time… That’s exactly why it hurts even more. The longer the friendship the stronger the pain when it’s broken. Especially when it’s about biting the hand that feeds you! Oh how I raged when my former good friend used my kindness to backstab me… It’s been a year… Things are still quite hostile… I learned that ignorance can be like a healing salve, and forgiveness… is WORTHLESS! Zero-tolerance policies are a powerful weapon, when used wisely.

Okayyy people have been busy recently. About this whole argument (which is basically Valumior, Spicybleachedhair, Hoheh, and Jaedieta) from what I can tell [and I WILL be relating this to real life, because this is actually pretty accurate (great job, Taeshi! )] It is mostly whether Lucy is a bitch and deserves this, or Mike is a bitch and shouldn’t be doing this. I’m kind of 50/50 on that. Personally, I believe that nearly everyone should be given second chances (which is why the whole “everyone hates Tess” thing really ****** me off). I DO think Lucy deserves some of what she is getting, but not nearly to this degree. Lucy (i think???) was the one who told Mike to ask Sandy (you know, after he missed her showing up) so she’s probably already beating herself up for that. Now, Mike giving her the cold shoulder (which I STILL think is part of his surprise) is on purpose. I don’t think he knows how bad it’s hurting her, but still.

I also agree with Abbey’s policy of “Noone should have that sad/scared(?) look in their eyes” thing. Lucy was a bitch in the past, yes. Mike actually deserved it for leaving Lucy all on her own for Sandy (please rot in hell ). A lot of Lucy’s “bitchy behavior” was more or less caused by some psychological mental development she gained in her younger years. Remember how her first years in school nobody would really play or pay attention to her. I was one of those kids and I tell you, not being able to find a social group at a young age really causes problems in the future. I myself held a rather mean and independent attitude for a long while and it’s only been since high school that I’ve straightened it out, matured and gotten better. But I still don’t hold a lot of trust in people in general. You can see Lucy starting to go through something similar, However Mike and some of her other class mates seem to recognize Why Lucy is what she is. and Another problem Lucy faces is always being someones ‘replacement’ when it comes to a relationship as we saw in “Cracks In The Ice”. That knowledge in itself to a girl can do it’s own toll.

Though even with all this going on with Lucy I don’t blame Mike for taking off and putting some separation between them. After years of insults, verbal and often physical abuse, One can only take it for so long until enough is enough and they need to take a break so the happiness can out weigh what is bad and hurtful. You can only try to help someone for so long and if they don’t take the help in a thankful way for some time, I’d pack my stuff and leave as well to find someone who appreciates the efforts more. Sadly, Mike did this just as Lucy was coming around. Another thing that did not Help Mike was the pressure his friends put on him when they found out he rejected Lucy. Suppose things could have cooled off if they were just left alone and Lucy hadn’t run off to Paulo the day after.

So in Terms of who is right and who is wrong, Each one has their on reasonable reasons in what is going on at this point. But who knows, maybe it can be fixed. Maybe they can fix it. Or maybe Sue has a plan from what I’ve seen over the newest chapters. *SHOT*

That is exactly my thoughts. This issue is not one-sided. Both Mike and Lucy got hurt and both of them, for their own reasons, have not been acting ideally.

I just don’t like all the Mike bashing, as if Lucy has never done anything wrong to him either. Anytime there is an altercation like this going on, both parties are in the wrong and could have done better to stop or solve it.

I just have hope that things will be solved in the end.

I’m pretty sure after that everyone will be cheering MikexLucy again, despite all the hate right now.

Her past behavior has been primarily irrational violence with little to no provocation that has been glossed over or ignored by her peers who interact with her or contributed to her social isolation from others beyond her social circle. And she lets her behavior be dominated by a small, foul-mouthed, ultra-violent abomination that she doesn’t even pretend to discipline despite taking responsibility for its moral development.

One wonders what’s going down in her home life that her parents have been ignoring this for years.

Learning to disengage from those who are beyond helping and who refuse help is just part of growing up, and one of the few points Mr. “Creepy Guy” from the vacation arc made that was good. Keep burning someone and they’ll stop letting you get the opportunity to do so.

If someone keeps being bitchy and violent for a long time and shows no signs of change (Lucy did, but it was the time she confessed her love to Mike, so pretty bad timing, I guess), then the only reasonable way is to stop talking to them. I did that with a jerkface I’d mentioned earlier, though he was a way bigger bitch than Lucy.
Still, it’s her frikkin’ birthday. I wish happy birthdays to people I hardly know, if I remember the date. It just seems nice that way.
I also think that Mike shunning Lucy alone isn’t going to help her undergo the big change everyone is hoping for. Look at her, she’s all “woe is me, my life’s falling into pieces because Mike stopped talking to me” (not mocking, just simplifying), but she doesn’t think about why it happened… yet, at least. She needs to understand what she’s done wrong (fully), then we can talk about positive change. Because this, this is basically drowning in sadness.
I must say I’ve changed my opinion on some things since I posted my first comment (means yesterday ;p). So thank you, oh BCB fans, for being so reasonable and having well-justified views.

About Lucy’s past actions, her primary response is silence or snarky comments. Chapter 12. Irrational violence, my ***. Her slapping Mike was primarily blowback from the confession and his questionable patience for anything she does now. And Lucy sinks into gloom, rather than getting mad and hitting people. Stop ignoring the details already.
And Lucy didn’t just start being kinder. She was talking to more people more often and spent less time being violent in general. She has already been trying to change old habits in general. That confession was NOT her first hint of liking Mike. Off to the Movies. Chapter 10. She pretty plainly was regretful of not being able to go with Mike alone. Confrontation. Chapter 12. Alejandro would probably have done as he planned to and crushed Mike’s skull. Who jumped to his defense? Exactly.
Her habits of not being social are from a life of never being able to be accepted until highschool. Paulo, who liked her when he saw her, and Mike, her first friend, were it.

I guess you could say… EXTREME SAD FACE.

Remember in the page earlier where Mike congratulates Daisy. You see him cupping his hands. (I didn’t notice this at first someone else did) He could have been yawning or more likely (and hopefully) he could have said happy birthday but there was no speech bubble to build tension for the readers and Lucy probably didn’t notice ‘cause of her deaf ear…

I think Mike was yawning in that panel a few pages back, guys. Stop trying to twist that into something it’s probably not. Then again, I don’t know. We’ll see. But I think he was probably yawning, because look how depressed Lucy is in this page.

I think the words bubbles in the bottom half of the page are quotes from Mike from when he would try to surprise Lucy in the past. I’m at least getting that vibe.
