Paulo is the best character. This just cements it. Cocky and brazen most of the time, gentle and supportive when he needs to be, he has many sides and almost - I do say almost, because like any good character he has flaws - all of them are great.

The embarrassed face is cause he just realized he doesn’t have a towel and he feels stupid. Then he takes a towel and try’s to act natural so no one will know he took it. And the reason he took it is because it’s cold, cause it’s November, and he’s wet and wants to dry off so he won’t freeze, or at least that’s my guess.

Pay attention to where Paulo’s eyes are pointed in panel 6. He is looking down. He still has the hots for Lucy evidently. Quite evidently.

The purpose of the towel; which in many public shower houses near the beach are provided for free much like at the gym; was to conceal certain, “embarassing features” of his anatomy. Yes Paulo does not wear clothes just like the majority of the characters in BCB. Much to his dismay at this very moment.

He got overly excited thinking about Lucy. He is a guy after all. And no he did not peep into the other shower stalls… he was checking the shower room to make sure no one would see his “manly problem”.

Sometimes to get an innuendo joke, you have to think dirty.

Lastly… the reason why Paulo is not near Lucy; I would assume that MEN are not ALLOWED into the WOMEN’s side of the bathroom in the BCB world same as the real world. Pay attention to the last few pages and you will know they are near a beach and not a hospital yet; but nowhere near the water. They are in a bath house “at” the beach. Which would be convenient for Paulo and Lucy to get cleaned up and for Lucy to use the ladies room. Which would explain everything going on with this arc up to this point.

Think more common sense and less silly with these sorts of arcs and you will usually get the hidden jokes.
