Up until this point, I was able to understand Mike’s attitude toward Lucy, considering the harsh childhood she put him through.

However, after months of him basically giving her the cold shoulder and Lucy at least starting to lead a life without him, he has to be such an arse and humiliate her in front of the class.

Mr. Noodles should have thought of Lucy first instead of using her to punish Mike’s outburst. No doubt Mike’s going to give her a pretty hard time.

Just like to say a few things… first of all *raises a hand* called it like a clairvoyant!

Second, and this goes out to everyone, please lay off of Mike. Yes, it’s upsetting that he’s trying to avoid Lucy and getting all bent out of shape, but seriously with her outwardly rejecting him for over five years, I think a few months of not wanting to be around someone who’s hurt him emotionally and physically for that entire time entitles him to a little leniency. Now if Lucy had never done anything to hurt him and he did that crap, yes, I’d say string him up by his balls, but that’s not the case and I’m seriously appalled by all the negative comments when it was obvious to me that it hurt him just as much as it hurt Lucy to tell her “No”.

I’m surprised so many think that Lucy is going to rip Mike a new one. Lucy has started growing up, and to be honest, she really didn’t deserve that. Nothing that she has done can really make up for what Mike is doing to her now though. When things got hard or things looked their worst, Lucy was always right there for Mike, which is what really matters.

Right now, Lucy is super embarrassed and most likely she is thinking to herself. “Does Mike really hate me that much? That he doesn’t even want to have to think about being paired up with me for a dumb essay?” She’s completely mortified that he blew up like that in front of the whole class. She may have picked on him and beat him up but she never publicly humiliated him like that.

She even tried to keep it to herself when she confessed her love for Mike and he said ‘No’. She didn’t try to force her feelings on him, she just kept to herself or away from him to keep from showing how upset she was as he literally shoved Sandy in her face.

I’m pretty sure if Sandy saw Mike like this, she wouldn’t be so happy to be dating him, even if he is the only thing keeping her semi-sane right now. Mike doesn’t seem to care that the way he is acting is affecting and repulsing his friends. Abbey and even Daisy look disgusted/shocked at his outburst, and if I had to guess Paulo probably looks ready for murder.

Oh Mike… when you assume it makes an ***|u|me (*** out of you and me), or in this case, mostly himself. If I had to guess, instead of yelling at Mike later, Lucy will most likely ask him if he really hates her that much or avoid him like she has been. Mike wanted Lucy to leave him alone and she has been, he’s the one who has been fixated on making her miserable and not leaving her alone…. Just a little food for thought.

At some point in this war, there will be some guy with a weird name who will come up and do something big which will make him seem 5% less of a tool than what people think.

I really like all the different backgrounds in each little box that Mike is in. Really shows the progressing mood well. His fingers look a little bit wonky in the yellow panel though, although I can see how that’s hard to draw. Lucy’s bow looks to be drawn very well though. : )

I love this comic but the whole thing with Lucy and Mike reminds me of my own past so it makes me so depressed. My best friend (who happened to be a guy) decided to hate me cuz of his girlfriend. And i’m a lot like Lucy personality wise! ugh… it was so much drama that still makes me sad. poor Lucy…I know how you feel.

Mike is way too obsessed about Lucy, even if it is in a negative way, if he isn’t going to care about her then he should just stop caring in general about what happens with her. He already vented out how he feels to her and made her feel like crap, so why is he just rubbing salt in the wound if she just wants to be friends with him again? It’s like he’s mad that she loves him when he’s the one that ran to a girl that he’s not going to be able to stay with anyways. Sandy’s life is on the fast track and he’s just going to be left in her dust, he’s not going to be able to stay with her because she’s going to have a higher, even busier lifestyle than what she has right now. He crushed on Sandy as a kid, then she moved. When they finally meet it’s going to be different than what they imagine..I got off track.. Lucy can do better than Mikey anyways

Quite a bit has changed since the beginning of this whole story, and I would have never thought he would be so hostile in ending this relationship. A more passive attitude seemed practical back when and then, but nothing is ever truly definite.

I normally don’t try to hate on comic characters, even if they’re being immature (Lucy and Mike, I’m looking at both of you). But really, Mike? If you want to avoid the girl, don’t speak up about her and imply that you hate her in front of a large group of people. The laws of nature dictate that you will get stuck with her.

I don’t blame Mike for being edgy. He was kind of strung along and taken advantage of by an emotionally unstable clingy person, and when he washes his hands of his emotionally abusive relationship with her, everyone treats HIM like the unreasonable one. He did the healthiest thing for himself and absolutely nobody is on his side about it. He could have handled it a lot better, but he’s like.. 15? 16? He’s a dumb emotional kid who made a surprisingly mature decision in a dumb emotional way.

Mike’s not thinking before speaking: apparently because he’s still sore with Lucy and is bottling up what’s going on inside him.

I think he’s also translating the confliction between him and Lucy (meaning that he loves her but also loves Sandy) into anger. It’s a male response of the “fight or flight” instinct. Getting mad.

So basically Mike’s just plain mad for loving Lucy. Because he feels unfaithful to both her and Sandy but is directing it at Lucy making him look like he hates her, when it’s actually the opposite.

…If I talked this much verbally this would be the most I’ve talked in my entire life.
