Lucy may still be trying to figure out what to do next, but at least she looks like she’ll be able to take it one step at a time now, well, slowly……………………… really slowly……. but that’s what the second-to-last panel seemed to tell me anyway (‘cause I thought “hey look, she may be getting her old spunk back! “. Even though that was Lucy just being irritated with the situation. Although, I suspect Lucy will be feeling guilty and would probably try to make it up to Yashy behind scenes, after she calms down, of course ).

Welcome to BCB, Yashy. Lucy will be your host, dropping furry bombs of drama and angst on your face whenever you bring up Mike. What?! What do you mean you’ve been here since the first chapter?!

Tl;dr: ‘S’bout time Yashy woke up and smelled the coffee.

Kind of hard to tell what Lucy is upset with: Mike, Sandy, or herself. Maybe it’s a combination of the three.
It’s also difficult to tell if she’s emotionally cut ties with Mike and now wards off such feelings by holding him in contempt or if she’s still attracted to him, but is angered by the fact he already has Sandy.
Personally, I’d just cut myself loose. Somethings aren’t worth holding onto, especially if it hurts more than it heals. Sure, it would be nice if they could at least be friends, but for that to happen their relationship needs to stop being a constant transition of hot and cold (Lucy obviously heating up now, whereas she was passive during the December chapter, and now Mike taking on a passive role where he was mounting the offensive before).

Very nice to see Yashy actually care for the both of them for once in her life! Yashy will have a bit of a shock and will probably hate “Flea” for doing that to her. But knowing Lilly, she again, will be the one to solve all of this. I believe that.

These last couple of pages just don’t seem to fit (in this particular chapter that is). I know we just made a big turn in the plot with Sandy telling Mike to be nice to Lucy, but doesn’t it seem like it should be part of a different chapter starting at about page 29? I mean, Isn’t it a little over the top to have the whole scarf-attitude-symbolism-hatetojoyinjustafewpages thing, and then have the whle Yashy is clueless plot device explode in the same chapter? I guess it might tie together in the remaining 2 pages, but I digress. Oh, and by the way, why is there a big blank space in the bottom right corner?

First time we see her face in a while… She looks so tired and beaten (not literally, of course). It makes me want to cry.

I feel so bad for Yashi. She was ignorant of everything and her life now is going to completely change. Yashi was my favorite of the pets, spite the fact she’d swear every two words. She’s probably not not going to be like that for awhile. I feel so sad, it just happened now but dear jezz. She always thought Lucy and Mike were together. And know that the truth’s out, she’s going to shattered.

It’s probably a relief to have that out in the open for both Mike and Lucy… I do feel sorry for Yashi though, because ignorance is (especially in this case) bliss.

But Lucy does look older than what she use to look like.

Why do I have the strangest feeling that either one of two things are gonna happen?
Option 1: Yashi decides to go talk to Mike/ beach at him for making Lucy upset. (This one, I’m less sure of.)
Option 2: Yashi runs away from home because everything she knew is.. Well, ruined. This will either mame Lucy even more depressed, or force her to turn to her friends and, gasp, maybe even Mike for help.
Either way, I’m 99.999% sure Yashi is going to yell.

I do think Lily had a point in turning him away; Mike’s just not ready to really accept Lucy.
HOWEVER I don’t know how anybody can know that Mike’s ready if they don’t even let him speak to Lucy. Personally, if I had doubts that Mike would make anything better, I would ask him to leave only AFTER I heard what he had to say.
Sure, he has a girlfriend. So Mike can’t have a ROMANTIC relationship with Lucy. But at least let him give her something.
I hope Mike comes back without Sandy’s go-ahead, just out of his own guilt. Then at least they can be peaceable. That’s what Lucy needs, not romantic love, just friendly companionship from the boy who was always there for her.
Does Mike even realize what he meant to Lucy, or is he only thinking of Lucy objectively, as a lifelong crush he tried to woo until the passion faded and an old flame reignited? He did mean something to her, even before she developed romantic feelings—she doesn’t just miss him because he was a little crush, but because he was her best friend, her confidant— the yang to her yin, a person who should be bonded in some way, romantically or otherwise.

From my experience, three things can happen, emotion-wise, when told your parents are no longer together:
1. Crying: You cry. Hardcore, as loud as you can to drown out the explanations.
2. Anger: Go nuclear on whoever caused the world to crash down around you.
3. Denial: It’s a horrible joke, right? Why would anyone want to leave mom/dad; she/he’s the best… they love each other, right?!
How Yashy will deal is anyone’s guess; hell she could do a ‘you’re obviously too good for him’ speech to try to cheer Lucy up, they way she’s seeing Lucy’s reaction to Mike.
…So the soap opera is told and unfolds

Back on topic to the actual plot development in the story as of now, Yashy’s initial response just shows the shock she’s realizing. She’s been so used to ‘Flea’ going back to Lucy all these years that when they finally ‘break up’ its as if her world has crashed down too. Mike is basically a father figure to her and this whole situation is practically a divorce of her parents.
Anyway, amazing page as always, I hope I didn’t banter too much

I just have to put this out there. Lucy reacted to Yashy just now like Mike did to Lucy recently. In anger. She wasn’t thinking of how it would effect Yashy, she was just angry. And later, she will feel bad for doing so. It’s a shorter, less serious version of Mike’s Apocalyptic Rage. To those who fault Mike entirely while putting Lucy on a pedestal of perfection, this should show them that their blue-eyed Angel is prone to the same mistakes as the biggest ******* in the universe.

I really hope Lucy doesn’t go overboard and blow up at Yashy :< The one exclamation alone has just shredded the image of what she saw as her family. I’m glad she is on the same page and can face this with everyone else, but this is not the way the message should be received.

to be quite honest i think Lucy is going to be showing a harsher side now that everything mike has made her believe to be true. i have kinda been through the same as Lucy not to that level of hatred that mike has shown her but it was the same. I felt so much anger that it was the only emotion i showed people and it sucked. i hope Lucy becomes happy again i love her when she is happy she is adorable

If you look at everything through Lucy’s eyes, her reaction was understandable. She’s going through a lot, and is having a tough time dealing with such drastic heartbreak. I mean Mike didn’t only break her heart, he broke her soul. It will be interesting to see how she interacts with everyone at school again.

As for Yashy, yes, her world will be shattered. But it’s better to let someone know the truth than to lie to them for a long period of time. Yashy was being a little brat about everything, even after Lily said to cut it out, and naturally, Lucy lashed out. But now, with her even more delicate demeanor and situation, she went to such an extreme to break the news the way she did.

Sigh. Lucy, I wish I could give you a tight hug.

Taeshi, nice job, I think this all flows nicely. I like the transition from Mike’s environment to Lucy’s, it was quite smooth. Looking forward to the next 2 pages.

We’re building to the climax! (if you don’t get that reference you weren’t an amine kid) honestly though, it’s surprising they got that bird to shut up. But I wonder, are these little creatures supposed to represent Tashi and them? Or arethey just there as pets? And wouldn’t it be weird to have animals having animals as pets? And you can totally tell that when the hedge hog girl grows up (if she does) she’ll be the hot book nerd girl. The stuck up kind who doesn’t buy into that highschool dram crap. Where as the other two will get lost into whatever click they find. She’ll be the girl who when a guy (hopefully her boyfriend) tries to take advantage of her, she judo kicks him in the junk and says: I have a black belt in Judo, karate, marshal arts, and am skilled in kind fighting. (this is what I think about while I’m stalking you all.)

But this time…. This time it won’t happen. Lucy won’t let it happen. All my days reading this comic I thought Mike was gonna be the one to break the news to Yashy but Lucy did. (Basically telling her that her everything was a lie. Her expectations now destroyed.) Oh and Lily tried to stop Yashy, telling her to leave the topic alone.

On a side note, it is good to see Lucy’s face again. It’s been long since we saw her entire face. Plus, I see she needs to straighten things out with Yashy to better define to her ralationship with Mike. Yashy’s world will never be the same.

Oh my goodness stop please you’re breaking my heart. Lucy doesn’t yell at her pets. Not even when they’re being insufferable or rude or anything. Lucy loves her pets. How broken does she have to be to snap like that? I just… I was going to leave a coherent review but now I actually just want to cry.

That white space is like silence to me. Like you can hear the words ringing and don’t know what to do about them.

Lesson learned: Make sure all of your pets are up to date on your social going-ons. Particularly ones that think you and one of your friends is their parents.

i don’t understand why most of you think yashi will go beat up mike now. i suppose that would be her usual action but judging by her face in the last panel i think she’s more likely to go into denial. i understand lucy for lashing out but if she doesn’t calm down quick she’s going to be just like mike. i don’t think anyone is at fault here honestly. they’re teenagers, i don’t think many of us would react very different from them given the same situations.

I kinda hated Mike for what he did until Sandy actually showed up…it’s kind of hard to take their relationship serious and easy to root for Lucy since you see her with him more often (and there is at the very least some chemistry there)….but when we got a proper explaination and I saw how happy the two of them were together and his story of how she opened his eyes to how badly Lucy can treat him….I guess I kind of understood? He shouldnt have been so hated for not being able to do anything when she confessed, she’s known how he felt all along and still put them both in that situation…..

I honestly dont know if i can side with anyone here…. Mike has been abused by Lucy since grade school, quite viciously at times as well, and Lucy has had her heart(whoa alliteration) broken by him. and then theres the long distance relationship pressures, peer pressure, hormones,half drowning….

I find it hilarious how everyone is putting crying faces and saying “Poor Yashy, poor Yashy—her world must have shattered!” when all I can think is “She’s going to scream about how “Flea” is a no good cheater and run off to hit himin the next page, isn’t she?”

Poor Yashi… I bet it’s like her parents got divorced or something… Dramatic, but I couldn’t help but laugh at her face in the last panel.

And Taeshi pulls off the excellent maneuver of TWO MORE PAGES! After I read the page, I was thinkin “Man, what a way to end the chap—*looks at author comment* waitaminnit…*looks at page count* WHERE’D THOSE TWO PAGES COME FROM?!”

Anyway, for this page…

Damn…it’s a bit heartbreaking to see Yashy like this; she doesn’t understand the intensity of this situation. Lily doesn’t want to say anything, but what Lucy said must be like an earth-shattering kaboom for Yashy.

These last few pages got me thinkin…why exactly did Lucy throw that snowball at Mike? Could it be that she wanted to remind Mike of the good times of their friendship? If that’s the case, that’s…actually really sweet of her o.O

Also, I wouldn’t be surprised if Yashy started calling Mike a cheater after this revelation. That’ll be a dark call-back to when Mike couldn’t escape that word (and was subsequently getting beaten because of it).

Mike is SUCH A *******. He’s been so hateful to Lucy, and yet is still angered by her presence in the previous panels… It soothes my soul to imagine Paulo literally knocking some sense into him. I don’t know how he could ever make up for what he’s done.

Personaly i’ve always found yashi to be annoying. I mean i think she is a funny comic relef but u have no idea how happy i am that she’ll finnaly get it. Talk about clue less. She may be a pet, but treated like a person, well to an extent. My dog knows when i’m sad, and he’s my pet so i’m just saying here we have yashi, a pet who can friggin talk to u. Grrr yashi

Been gone for a few weeks, come back and the site remembered the page I was on and my comment name. I love this place so much.

I bet u guys that yashi will cry saying its not true and she will run off and lucy will say wait don’t go and mishul will find her in the snow. Not really betting. Mike tried to do The right thing and ended up Back firing then (futre) gets sold after yashi mike found and mike saves her and brings yashi Back to sobbing lucy who will probably hug him then they will talk things through then its a happy story again.

Yashy’s face = omg my world as I know it is over and has all been a lie.

I’d do the same thing just walk away, its easier than letting the person who “hates” you know their actions are affecting you. It just gives them more power over your emotions.

ASDFGHJKL!! Dammit all, I skip BCB for a few weeks and this is what happens? I thought that this was going to be a feel-good chapter for Mike, but, NOOOOOO, why would you even do this to me, to us readers?

I feel bad for Lucy (well, I have been, ever since Mike told her to stay away from him), but mostly for Yashy, with his distorted view in the world. It seems he’s still stuck in the time where everything was okay, and Lucy and Mike can fight it out and still be friends.

Now, I’m definitely curious as to how this chapter will end.

Someone please subtitle that final pannel with “Aliens” and turn it into a meme… Please?
