Because if he wanted to hang out and have fun, he’d be with David. If I remember right, David has a phone Paulo could use, but he wouldn’t do that to David so instead he uses Mike. Jasmine went on a trip and Paulo suddenly wants to hang out with Mike? Nah, he’s just using Mike to abuse his phone.

Hahaha! I must admit, despite liking the drama. This is exactly what’s been needed. More comic relief. The tension has been too high lately. It’s even affected the readers. Drama is good Taeshi, but once in a while the people need to take a step back and laugh with the comic. The readers follow the mood of the characters and tone of the comic. For this page, I humbly thank you.

I’m wondering how Paulo manages to talk on the phone for that long without Mike having any idea it’s happening. Especially a CELL phone, which I imagine Mike never lets out of his hands except rarely.

I’m also wondering what kind of archaic phone billing system still gives two patoots about long-distance. That hasn’t been an issue for years… How anyone would rack up $250 is beyond me, I mean that’s like 2000 minutes+ since any plans I’ve seen that don’t have unlimited minutes (rare), it’s 10 cents a minute or thereabouts as overage charge. I mean, seriously, we’re expected to think Paulo’s logged even just 15 hours on Mike’s phone, much less the 30+ that would add up to 2000+ minutes?

Maybe this woulda made sense if it was set back in 1995, when phone companies still charged for long distance…

Just sayin’, this gaping plot hole has interfered with my ability to cheer Paulo on in his shenanigans.

Also, this is an extra, so it could be taking place at any time in the story. I personally think it’s before Mike fought with Lucy, otherwise his mom wouldn’t be so schocked about the phone bill… (on acount of him calling his GF every 5 minutes).

@Ohno Mike and Paulo have always been friends from what I can tell, its just lately they’ve been distant on acount of Mike’s distraction with Sandy (and the fact Paulo is more concerned with his LaDiEs right now.) They DO sit at the same lunchtable every day… It’s just that Taeshi never really covered how they interact in an “out of school” scenario.

I too was confused with Paulo and Mike’s friendship. It was only a few weeks ago i discovered that they ”respected” each other while reading the BCB relationship chart. Based on their interactions in earlier chapters you would think they’d get along terribly. I think it’s a good thing that they’re friends, though.

i was wondering why mike and paulo were friendly toward each other… and it all makes sense, now.

apparently veronica drank something she shouldn’t have and got into her stephenie meyer mode of falling in love with the equivalent of twilight’s edward in her comic, and decided to do something to make him seem “cool”, again.

well, since running up other people’s phone bills and doing generally awful things to them and ruining their lives is considered “cool”, i guess i’ll go beat someone’s kid like a drum right in front of them while grilling their dog for a barbecue… because you know, that’s totally awesome and everything.

all the COOL kids like to commit mass genocide on the weekends, followed by a ritualistic satanic summoning.

That means they can spend the time they would typically spend pondering what’s yet to come thinking about how Mike’s gonna get whupped for wasting money which Paulo actually spent on a phone bill. But, it’s your comic, so you can take it anyway you want. If it is another retcon you’re hinting towards, we’ll try to help others with the transition (Using the last time it happened as an example, there will be those that don’t understand past plotlines will get changed).

Paulo is mad for a moment but suddenly realizes a key thing about last time Lucy was made unbelievably sad by Mike. They nearly had sex. He says “Oh gosh, I just remembered, I gotta go do sumthing! Paulo has more love with Lucy, Jasmine dies in a car crash on the way home, (not like i want her too, it is necessary though) And Mike is grounded to Haley’s room for a month long sleepover because of the phone bill. That sounds like a fitting punishment.

Now Mike’s Mommy, take away his cellphone as punishment and give Sandy the opportunity (she needs but doesn’t know she needs) to find a new guy during her time away from Mike. 8D
I can dream! Sandy deserves a nice guy who actually lives NEAR her. Plus, it’s just my opinion, but I just think it would be more realistic if she found a new guy, especially since she’s a model an’ all. Mike is not the only nice guy in the world. Actually… since he’s not a nice guy I take that back. There are actually nice guys out there and she deserves one of them. That’s what I meant.

Last but not least… this is why I adore Paulo.

While this is a breather, it is more like a wilful slap of irony to the face of all those predicting a heated showdown between Paulo and Mike. Alas being foreseeable, it still retains a humorous quality, nonetheless.

I find it funny that people keep on the hopes of Mike/Lucy happening, when the very creator of the comic has said it will never be~~~

Any-hoo, against Lachdan’s comment, I don’t find this a “slap of irony to the face”, as Paulo does not know why Lucy is upset so it going to keep up the same friendship with Mike as he’s always had.

I’d like for Paulo to possibly have a word with Mike, but I really don’t want him to like, kick Mike’s butt or anything. The end of the last chapter was good for Mike, just something calm to begin to have Mike feel bad for what he did. Not someone screaming, “You’re a peice of -you know what-!”

But I hope something much the same as what came from Lily comes from Paulo. In more of a Paulo way though. Something meaningfull that actually lets Mike know, “Wow, people actually care for Lucy and don’t just put up with her because they are my friends, they are Lucy’s friends too.”

Welp, what a surprise.

I can’t tell if Paulo’s deliberately using his phone a lot as a sort of revenge, ( does he still question if Mike caused Lucy’s grief? ) or if he’s legitimately just in love with Mike’s iPhone…

After looking at a lot of the comics, studying the characters and analyzing peoples opinions I am astonished to see how many Lucy supporters are out there. There must be 10x as many Lucy supporters as there are Mike supporters. And my 2 cents is that should Mike have ignored Lucy like that when she told him that she loved him? No. That was the worst move he ever made in his life.

If anything he should’ve been there for her as a friend and try to show her that there are plenty of other people out there that AREN’T HIM. But it isn’t entirely Mikes fault. Okay Lucy may have been insecure but she should’ve never thought about hitting people to avoid expressing/opening up her feelings. She should have just sat down with Mike and told him why that she did all this all these years.

Now because of their actions (Mostly Mikes by the way) Mike is going to go under character development and slowly realize overtime on what he said to her that night, and then what he did to her the past few months. Eventually the guilt will be ever consuming and Mike will try to re-friend Lucy because he has realized on how much of a bloody tosser he’s been to her.

Not only that but i fear for Mikes being. Eventually all oh his companions are going to find out and possibly do something rash out of Lucy’s protection. Paulo has a GIANT crush on her and Tess can get “Overprotective” over Lucy as well. Not only that but we’ve seen how angry abbey can get just by reading Daisy’s. He could flip out on Michael, it could be just Paulo or it could be Tess. All three of them could confrot him about this “issue” that Michael created and Michael can’t hid it forever.

Hell, everyone’s probably going to learn on what happened in about one chapter or two so he doesn’t have much time to fix the mess he made before “It hits the fan” Hopefully Michael will fix things before he runs out of time.
