Well. No one saw that one coming. Wonder if Paulo admits that he was going to say the same thing. That would either make the situation much less awkward or take the awkwardness to a whole new level, it would depend on how they both handle it.
I think that when she explains, she’s going to day she’s actually fallen for David. At which point, David’s going to burst in, put his hand on Paulo’s shoulder, stare him directly in the eyes and say, “Ovaries.” At which point, both David and Jasmine will run off in separate directions and leave Paulo to wonder what just happened.
In reality though, I’m pretty sure that she’s doing this because it’s practically impossible for them to see each other at all and that’s a lot of stress on her.
Still though, this is really surprising considering her break down just a couple months ago at Lucy’s ‘party’.

Well, I didn’t see this coming. She probably has a good reason, ‘cause as far as I saw in Pillow Talk, she really cared about Paulo, and made an effort to fit him into her schedule. I guess something in Paulo’s behavior tipped her into thinking “maybe its best to see other people bit” (like the snowman moment), or if maybe she really felt they were better off as friends than lovers, or both? It’s probably both, ‘cause maybe in the short moments they were able to spend together, she probably saw their relationship didn’t have much romantic inclinations, or it reached a point where she saw they weren’t meant to go further.

I’m sad x is no more, but I’m pretty sure the mutual dissolve in their relationship will make the transition into a friendship easier….. if they want to. I’m kinda hoping for this because I really liked their dynamic, romantic relationship or not. And I also hope Jaz stays in the comic, because she’s just that great

Awwww Jazz! I thought she was starting to get ideyas, ever since they were building the snowman. She really does have a sensible head, and she’s totally cool with being just friends with Paulo. As sweet as they are together, there’s no reason why they can’t play the same pranks and games as friends!

I really do like this kitty, and I also hope she makes regular appearances from here on out! At first I didn’t like having another love interest to keep track of, but she really has grown on me!

As much as I am glad we won’t see Jasmine get hurt by Paulo breaking up with her, I have to wonder; What are Jasmine’s reasons for breaking up with Paulo? Last time I saw, she would do anything to keep him with her. Perhaps all the stress of a relationship is just too much for her, or, like back in one of the previous chapters, she noticed his growing obsession with Lucy, and figured she should let him try to pursue a relationship with her instead. But I think the most likely reason is because she wants him to have a girlfriend that can spend time with him more than she has. Unless I’m looking at this all wrong and when she said “We should see other people.”, she really meant “I found someone else”. But I sort of doubt that’s the case. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

As simple as this makes it for Paulo, I also feel bad for both parties involved. It sucks to be in a relationship that doesn’t work, it involves a lot of guilt and it’s just very disheartening and draining to try something and have none of it meet your expectations. Jasmine probably learned a lot from this though! She’s a very outspoken and she’s not afraid to share her feelings, and that drive for all those extracurriculars she takes is going to do her well, mmhm.
Here’s to hoping she doesn’t vanish in the comic, because Jazz is a pretty fab gal.

Haha, Jazz is more of a man than Paulo is! Beat him to it.
This is wonderful, because this is actually a very sweet and, don’t make me say it, bitter moment. What really gives me a sigh of relief though, is that this is a step towards progress.
Too many times in BCB when there is a chance for progress, things become blocked up and fragmented into a more difficult situation. Mike tries to kiss Lucy in their childhood and she rejects him, Lucy admits to loving Mike and he says he doesn’t like her anymore, Augustus is pinning after Daisy when he can’t get her, Lucy’s about to jump off a building for Mike who doesn’t really seem to care…
Instead of hiding in the past or becoming stuck in the present, this is a step into the future, a direction you want to be going if you got the steel for it. So much of this “should I?”, “shouldn’t I?”, “what if?”, and “there’s no hope.” going on that I just feel liking getting up, kicking the person in the rear, and yelling “stand up and advance already!”
Life is like a battlefield; the longer you stand around and wait, the more likely you’re going to get hit by a mortar shell. You have to keep up the pace and keep moving, if you want to survive.

okay PPL let me break it down for you.

1st: seeing other ppl may not mean she wants to break up. they could still date each other and still date other ppl. the whole “true” concept of dating was orriginaly that you became of age to start going out there and socializing on a more personal level. goin’ steady (or having the title of boy/girlfriend) is when you are exclusively dating one person.

2nd: to anyone saying that Jasmine never really cared… what the F have you guys been smoking??? it’s clear that not not only dose Jasmine care but she is very astute as well. maybe she realized that Paulo has been struggling with some emotions and this is her way of helping (or protecting him & herself) with his indecisiveness.

3rd: you also have to remember that Paulo is Jasmine’s FIRST boyfriend. and because she is so intuitive, she may realize that here reaction to the fight she and Paulo had in “Pillow Talk” meant that she was becoming too dependent on Paulo and wasn’t preparing herself for an obvious possibility that Paulo may end up dating someone else.

However this could mean Paulo is now even in more turmoil if he realizes that Jasmine is doing this for him. I mean how could anyone leave someone like Jasmine after she did something like that? Eh. To be honest, I kind of saw this coming, but I was really hoping it wouldn’t happen. It’s a bit of a cliche: person A is about to break up with (or drop some other horrible news on) person B, then, before person A has a chance to talk, person B says what person A was about to say first. I’ve seen it a million times, and to be honest it’s pretty dull whenever I see it now. I actually would have prefered it if Paulo had just gone ahead and dumped her. As much as I love Jasmine and don’t want her to be sad, I would much prefer having one of my favorite characters go through a conflict over having them saved from that conflict by a stale, tried-and-true situation. I’m really sorry, and I don’t mean to be rude about this, but I’m just not a huge fan of this page.

A step in the right direction.
I still want Lucy to tell Paulo about what Mike said. She probably won’t on purpose, for fear of Mike getting his *** kicked, but I’m hoping something slips and Paulo puts two and two together. Sweet ol’ Mikey still needs a stern talking to for what he did. I know he felt kinda bad when he talked to Lily, but that wasn’t nearly enough. He needs to understand the gravity of what he did.

What I believe is gonna happen:

Paulo will be initially relieved, and will start to pursue Lucy. Then, one of three things will happen:

A - Gets into a jealous fit over Augustus, and Lucy doesn’t care. These two are at odds; while Augustus is just ****** cause he’s not even interest. Past problems with that gang I can’t remember are surfaced through Paulo’s stupidity in wanting to knock Augustus’ block.

B - Lucy is not interested at all, and Paulo is left in confusion. Jasmine pulling the break-up first pulls that psychological thing where now that she’s turning him down, he actually really wants her more. Epic dramaz ensue.

C - Lucy reciprocates, but perhaps with ulterior motives. Paulo is a little oblivious, but Jasmine finds out and tries to warn him but he’s too blind about and assumes she’s just being jealous.

D - An alien species that looks identical to David lands and invades. David is actually an alien scout and has brought doom to everyone.

As clechey it is for jazz to dump him instead……..i realy didn’t see it comming. Jazz has cried over him be4. I honestly thought we’d see her dumped. I’m relieved because i love that character alot. However im realy interested to see how jazz would develope as a character losing him. Like scott pilgrim vs the world when knives became obsessed with getting him back. I realy saw that in jazz. K sera sera. No one got hurt. But is that a good thing We need drama taeshi….lol WE CRAVE IT!!!!!!!!

I really hope Paulo doesn’t become defensive over this… because the last thing there needs to be right now is more burned bridges…

On the bright side, hopefully he will be relieved that Jazzy was the first to say this. I think that the relationship between Paulo and Jasmine is awesome, and their dynamic personalities result in a lot of fun, but they really don’t need to be anything more than friends.

Good! Jasmine can do better. Paulo needs to grow up a little and get over Lucy. Que PauloxLucy with some Paulo and Mike drama for dessert. (Or should I say PauloxMike?)

I can just see the lil’ bandstand play in Paulo’s head.

Well, I can’t believe I didn’t see this coming.

Even though I find Jasmine to be a boring character I will say I think she’s brighter and more mature than (almost) all the other characters in this comic. So when I think it over, this does make sense. I’m sure Jasmine noticed that Paulo has feelings towards Lucy, and that their “relationship” is more like best friends than boyfriend and girlfriend.

Plus, looking back, Paulo has never loved Jasmine (which I’m sure she has come to notice). He only asked her out ‘cause he wanted a girlfriend, but he found girls his own age too complicated and girls older than him too experienced. He randomly selected her and asked her out, just for the sake of having a girl. So I’m sure Jasmine knew their relationship wasn’t meant to last, and that he would eventually break-up with her.

Anyways, I’m happy on how this turned out.

Honestly it would have worked better if she gave him the time of day to which she wasn’t. More like not taking the relationship seriously until the very end and by then it’s expected he’s going to wander there because she put in very little effort to it.

Well… I did it…. Every issue from the archive, intermissions and special issues included. It’s been one hell of a ride that’s for sure. It’s really quite a contrast to how teenage like is portrayed in the mainstream as this fun carefree adventure… no… this is much more like, though a little melodramatic here and there.

Man this series is awesome, hell I’m probably crazy enough to join the form and why not. As for predictions I think Paulo Mike and Augustus are gonna have a three way confrontation over Lucy… If I’m right I get an internet cookie

Or is monogamy such an assumed norm that I’m the only one seeing that interpretation? Because a bit of polyamory could make this comic a whole lot less tragic/dramatic (in some ways… and a lot more complicated in others!).
