daisy get back to work this learning isn’t gonna learn itself
I am underwhelmed. Also, does this mean Daisy’s gotten over her ‘Mikie’? I mean, he’s right there and she doesn’t even notice him. Weiiird…
On another note, this chapter is way too straightforward. Something is going to go terribly wrong, it’s like, a requirement of this comic.
Nikita August 20, 2013, 1:00 PM EST.
Well this keeps getting more and more suspenseful.
First August 20, 2013, 1:00 PM EST.
Nice. They’re going for it.
Gate-Senpai August 20, 2013, 1:00 PM EST.
DAISY WHY IN THE HELL ARE YOU SO CUTE?!
And she looks so freaking excited! Dude, it totally reminds me of my first time buying condoms. @w@ N’aww, Daisy, I understand your excitement, really I do. Just be careful it doesn’t drive Abbey away from you. :’D
Aaahhh, I just noticed the happy hearts and pink glow around Daisy from her excitement and looooove. <3 Hahaha, awww, gaddamnit you are adorable Daisy. :’D
Spinda August 20, 2013, 1:00 PM EST.
Aaaa the last panel is cute
shaaa August 20, 2013, 1:01 PM EST.
Daisy preggers arc plz
Zany August 20, 2013, 1:01 PM EST.
Wow she got that D on da mind.
capratchet August 20, 2013, 1:01 PM EST.
Whoa there Daisy! You gotta focus on your studies right now, not your man.
Swooz August 20, 2013, 1:01 PM EST.
Nice-Hero August 20, 2013, 1:01 PM EST.
Tomorrow it gonna go DOWN
Wafflesftw August 20, 2013, 1:02 PM EST.
She obviously wants the D… on the test she should be taking notes for!
Prof. Drama Llama August 20, 2013, 1:02 PM EST.
Ugh. I guess kids will be kids. This was inevitable.
Eemia August 20, 2013, 1:02 PM EST.
I know that face! That’s the “I’m gonna get laid” face!
MissShellGiraffe August 20, 2013, 1:03 PM EST.
This is gonna end with all sorts of awkward, unless Taeshi is willing to give the shippers what they want
Kent August 20, 2013, 1:03 PM EST.
Darn, you guys. Do you be waiting here, constantly refreshing your page, just to get first comment?
I’m surprised that I got third myself. I thought “Certainly with the number of fans my comment will be drowned out.” Yet there it is. It took a whole minute for the fourth commenter to, eh, comment.
Gate-Senpai August 20, 2013, 1:04 PM EST.
Dem hormones be actin’ up for Daisy, here. She won’t be satisfied and able to think straight until she gets herself a ‘hot dog’.
…so maybe she’ll get some during lunch. Seriously, thinking on an empty stomach is HARD.
Although with so many more pages left in this chapter and this comic being essentially a bottomless pit of drama, and there being some focus on Paulo earlier, I get the feeling he’s going to get involved somehow.
Oceanus92 August 20, 2013, 1:07 PM EST.
@Gate-Senpai I actually wrote something to begin with.
Spinda August 20, 2013, 1:08 PM EST.
The two characters in the back look so confused omg
Kimimi August 20, 2013, 1:09 PM EST.
Though i agree Le sexy time~ is amazing and great for a relationship, isn’t everyone forgetting that they’re only 15? I think Daisy is pressuring Abbey a little too much on the subject, they have their whole lives ahead of them, and condoms aren’t exactly 100% effective And i don’t know about Roseville, but where i live the age of consent is at 16 years of age, which is also a problem…
Nevertheless, this is a comic about cats so I’ll just jump in the bandwagon WOOOOOO GO DAISY
me August 20, 2013, 1:10 PM EST.
The excitement daisy has inside her is turning her on and making her squirm with delight, thus She’s also radiating a pink glow as a side effect. This term has been dubbed by medical doctors as lovebugitis. It is a very well known disorder among teenagers and should be let to take its course as results may vary.
@ prof. Lana drama: yes, she should be studying after all LOL
Mcturtle August 20, 2013, 1:10 PM EST.
@Spinda That’s true. It sucks when the first comment is “…”, then is changed later. It’s like “Are you THAT determined to get the first comment???” But yeah, at least you wrote a legible thing.
Gate-Senpai August 20, 2013, 1:12 PM EST.
So…they are gonna have sex…?
*face palm* well ya know this comic does represent real teen issues so i guess i should of been expecting that
Jaime August 20, 2013, 1:13 PM EST.
D for Daisy, D for disaster…
Dankaw August 20, 2013, 1:14 PM EST.
thinking about sex instead about school
- Daisy welcome to the world of teenage hormones
CoolBad August 20, 2013, 1:15 PM EST.
Holy crap she’s actually excited and giddy about this? Guys we’re gonna have another softcore pron moment up in here!! Calling it now.
Follarch August 20, 2013, 1:16 PM EST.
Does anyone else notice that strange pink aura she is emitting.
Meowricals August 20, 2013, 1:17 PM EST.
I think she’s starting to loose it again as she did that time she wanted Mike so bad that she would do anything to get him. She needs to tread lightly if she wants her career.
Keyblade Dragon August 20, 2013, 1:18 PM EST.
She wants the D.
That Guy August 20, 2013, 1:18 PM EST.
I’m kind of disappointed that we missed Janet giving them a talking to, it would have been fun to watch. that being said I could see this page being a bluff and Daisy isn’t thinking of her and Abbey having sex but having a sit down with both sets of parents to give them a dressing down talk about sex.
Chrisd765 August 20, 2013, 1:23 PM EST.
I have a bad feeling about this…
Rocky August 20, 2013, 1:40 PM EST.
Aaaaaaaaaaaa so cute ;w; Paulo and Jasmine were my favourite couple for a while but I think these two might be taking the cake right now.
Lizzie August 20, 2013, 1:47 PM EST.
daisy is so adorable ; v ;
Mewtallica August 20, 2013, 1:52 PM EST.
You need to incorporate that cute siamese behind Daisy!
Eeyup August 20, 2013, 1:52 PM EST.
Daisy, how can you be that adorable?!?! I agree with @Eeyup that siamese girl in the back, behind Daisy, is soooo pretty!!!!
kami August 20, 2013, 2:00 PM EST.
BISHOUJO SIAMESE CAT IS SO CUTE.
Also DAISY aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa <3 YOU’RE SO CUTE.
THIS PAGE IS JUST SO CUTE.
Cinnabun August 20, 2013, 2:03 PM EST.
Daisy is just too adorable!!!
Luna August 20, 2013, 2:06 PM EST.
The Siamese in the last panel, “the **** are these hearts?” Lol
Jared sheep August 20, 2013, 2:08 PM EST.
So far this chapter has been real sweet and it’s making me love AbbeyxDaisy even more, but with how much drama is in this comic, I have a bad feeling that this isn’t going to go very well, especially with how many pages are left, but I’ll keep my fingers crossed and hope this works out for them!
Also the two characters at the back look so confused.
Bon-Clay August 20, 2013, 2:08 PM EST.
@eemia what’s wrong with this? I think they’ve been dating long enough. They’re taking the appropriate precautions, and, they’re not rushing into it. And they love each other. And they’re both comfortable with it. Abbey’s gotta have some desire there.
Ventus August 20, 2013, 2:08 PM EST.
A scene-stealing performance from the Siamese in the back there. Well done. *golf clap*
Masket August 20, 2013, 2:10 PM EST.
Daisy is soo friggin’ cute. (o⌒．⌒o)
And Siamese girl is b-e-a-utiful.
BLZedd August 20, 2013, 2:12 PM EST.
Daisy. Girl. GURL STOP.
Girl, glow is for AFTER, no before.
Why you gotta be so cute, gurl?
Welgaea August 20, 2013, 2:21 PM EST.
Wow. They’re gonna go for it. I mean if they’re gonna get the stuff, why not? They’ll be safe now, right? No harm trying, right?
DarkCrystal828 August 20, 2013, 2:23 PM EST.
Well, someone’s excited, huh, Daisy?
Ha, I really like this story arc so far, its funny and light, though knowing BCB it probably won’t stay like this for long. So, I’ll just enjoy the chap, not that I have any problems with that~ . ANYWAY, if she looks like she’s glowing now, wait to see how she’ll look like AFTER the deed is done (if at all). She’ll probably be like a light bulb! …… until she sees the other D, on her test.
Subaru August 20, 2013, 2:34 PM EST.
Wait! What happened with Janet? Did they clear up the misunderstanding? Or was that just supposed to be a joke or something?
Oh well. A page with Daisy being cute is fine too.
Justmyopinion August 20, 2013, 2:45 PM EST.
Hah, look at that girl in the back, entirely mezmerized by the class, staring at the teacher with the jaw open. The dog looks weirdly bemused too, I wonder what the hell could the subject be.
Anteroinen August 20, 2013, 2:47 PM EST.
I hope their topic is about condoms AND sex…. both
Othoniel August 20, 2013, 2:48 PM EST.
I would argue that “…” is very legible. Not necessarily speakable but legible nonetheless. Also, your comment is hardly better, at least mine has content at this point.
Nikita August 20, 2013, 2:59 PM EST.
There’s nothing wrong with it, I just think that “dating long enough” isn’t a good reason for two fifteen year olds to sleep together. I mean, it’s better than the things Paulo’s done, but still, there are so many other things they could be focusing on in their relationship. Abby’s jealousy issues, for one. Daisy’s insecurity and self-esteem issues. Sex is just one part of a relationship, and while I’m glad to see it being handled with the appropriate weight in this chapter and relationship, I’m a little sick of the characters who are so obsessed with sex.
Eemia August 20, 2013, 3:12 PM EST.
I love that dog dude in the background, he looks so friggen chill.
Also this is “Thatonguy” but I’m changing my name so it’ll be more unique.
Turanis August 20, 2013, 3:13 PM EST.
Awww, Daisy’s making the cutest face, despite the less than innocent things she’s thinking about. At least they’re about Abbey, glad to see she’s quit with Michael. You’re doing good Daisy. Wonder if the inclusion of Michael in the first and last panel are foreshadowing a conversation between them. Isn’t a but early for Daisy to tell people her relationship is going the “next level”? Oh well, cause…THIS. IS. BCB!!
Meow August 20, 2013, 3:15 PM EST.
When you’re only freaking *15* , sex is out of the picture. I’d like to point out that all you guys are nuts about the age here.
Plus, I’d wager that if she really loved him, she’d be willing to wait. Abbey certainly did not seem to be at this point. Notice their immature conversation about sex guys!
“You want to?” “Yeah…”
They aren’t ready.
They aren’t communicating about the possibility if children and what they would do about a pregnancy. They aren’t talking about what they’ll do if a parent finds a condom. They aren’t talking about possibly holding out until Daisy gets some birth control. And they aren’t talking about what their relationship might change into once they start having sex. They aren’t being honest.
For someone that we all claim to think is smart, she’s pretty bad at math. Using only condoms is like giving karma the finger and asking for babies.
I_Love_Lucy August 20, 2013, 3:20 PM EST.
YOU GO DAISY, YOU BUY THEM CONDOMS AND ENTER YOUR SEXUAL LIFE IN A VERY POSITIVE WAY! You can just feel the excitement she’s feeling!
I just don’t want this to begin the pregger Daisy thing.
Cynthia August 20, 2013, 3:24 PM EST.
Woah, hold on guys, this is a flashback, pretty sure. Janet’s not going to let them off that easily!
GingerPaws August 20, 2013, 3:37 PM EST.
Instead of being excited over super-kawaii Dasy, I’m worried that neither Daisy nor Abbey have any idea about what they’re getting into…but I’m especially worried about Daisy. She’s young and excited, but naiive. I’m worried her first time won’t be all she expected- does she know that she’ll be in pain, and how painful it will be? Does she know how likely she is to become pregnant despite the use of condoms or other contraceptives? Does she know it’s more complicated that IKEA “insert tab A into slot B” directions? Does she have any idea what to realistically expect?
To be honest, I don’t think so, and I don’t think Abbey knows either. If they expect their first to be maaa~gical…..they’ve got another thing coming. That’s extremely unrealistic. They’re *too* excited about this, and if Janet hadn’t intervened, I think reality would have smacked this cute couple in the face, pretty hard.
SOMEbody needs to give them a little talking-to, and I think Janet’s more than willing.
GingerPaws August 20, 2013, 3:44 PM EST.

Amber August 20, 2013, 4:26 PM EST.
These comments about whether they are ready for sex is making me laugh - they are anthro cats. The fact that they are teenagers (and I am assuming the majority of readership, including the comments I am addressing, are also teenagers) seems to be one of the most heinous crimes they could commit - they are fictional teenagers who after a YEAR are briefly discussing sex. Get over it
Mollington August 20, 2013, 4:28 PM EST.
Jeez guys, it really doesn’t matter if they have sex or not. I for one want it to happen ‘cause LOOK AT ALL THE DRAMA THAT WILL HAPPEN IF THEY DO IT! MUAHAHHAAHAHHAHA!!! (all that aside, it would be kind of interesting to see them do that WITHOUT seeing them have ***)
I feel perverted…
Somebody August 20, 2013, 4:48 PM EST.
Oooohh, I think I get it. She actually wants him “like that”, but she doesn’t want to risk pregnancy yet. Either that or for some reason she considers the idea of going out to get birth control supplies as romantic. o_O

Bluh August 20, 2013, 5:23 PM EST.
“For someone that we all claim to think is smart, she’s pretty bad at math. Using only condoms is like giving karma the finger and asking for babies.”
Holy **** overdramatization ahoy.
you’re mixing condoms up with pulling out.
And don’t get me started on the overly conservative viewpoint.
I’m getting a Tea Party vibe here, it’s THAT bad.
stofu August 20, 2013, 5:28 PM EST.
Panel 4: Actually Daisy’s paper was covered with ‘dick drawings’ but in a rare moment of sanity @Taeshi decided to substitute a blank paper at the last minute…
When she thinks about things in panels 5 & 6? It’s about buying condoms.
She’s totally thinking about Abby in panel 7 though…
Don’t schools give condoms away? Starting in kindergarten?
5Cats August 20, 2013, 5:32 PM EST.

Guhhh, Daisy in this page was me all day today~
Sidnoea August 20, 2013, 5:42 PM EST.
Maybe *that’s* what’s been bugging me about this so much. It’s not just that they’re young (though 15 is pretty young), it’s that they’re so inexperienced. They’ve gone from, as far as we know, barely even making out heavily, to deciding to get condoms “just in case.” Daisy seems eager, but it’s like she just seems to think sex is what happens after a couple have been together for a while. Abby certainly didn’t seem too enthusiastic about it, but Daisy hardly seemed to notice because she was so busy stressing about not risking babies before she’s done with college. Neither of them seem to have given any thought to the idea that if she’s not ready to risk babies, maybe they should wait until they have access to a more reliable form of birth control than just condoms.
Again, I love that they’re being serious and trying to take precautions, but I feel like both of them would benefit from a talking to from Janet. Not even a stern one, just a simple, direct, “this is what you can expect, these are the risks, these are precautions you can take, please be careful and make informed decisions” sort of talk. Like you said, Ginger, neither of them seem to have realistic ideas about what it means to introduce sex into a relationship. Being together for a year and “loving” each other aren’t enough for them to know they’re ready and be fully prepared for it.
Eemia August 20, 2013, 5:49 PM EST.
Daisy seems to be mostly over both Mike and Augustus, which I have to admit I’m rather happy about. She’s in a stable, happy relationship with a guy who loves her and respects her for who she is. Agustus seems more interested in who she COULD be, rather than just accepting all that Daisy and and loving her just the same. and Mike can’t see past his perfect Sandy to notice anything else. She seems very good for Abbey, tempering some of his worse qualities and supporting him no matter what, which is what he needs in a girlfriend, and Abbey gives her the attention she’s always craved. He treats her as an equal, and sees her as the most beautiful girl in the world. When they’re in the room together, Abbey’s eyes are only on Daisy, and it wouldn’t matter how beautiful or curvaceous they are, to him, she’s always the most beautiful girl in the world, and in the end, that’s something every insecure girl wants, and sometimes needs. I’m actually a little sad for Daisy, who seems to have some high expectations, when in reality, first-time sex is awkward, painful, and clumsy. But given time (and a few tries) they can figure out what the other likes and have fun with it, as long as they continue to be careful. Abbey strikes me as someone who’d be good lover in time, in the sense that he’d be very concerned about his partner’s wants and needs.
@stofu I was actually gonna call I_Love_Lucy out but you did such a better job of it that I retyped my whole comment. Well said, fellow BCB fan, and user of Logic.

Age of consent is for age where a minor can have sexual relations with someone 18 and older. They’re both 15 so it doesn’t apply here.

Lapis August 20, 2013, 5:59 PM EST.
@GingerPaws and @ShadowKat
Sex for the first time should not be painful. Only reason it would be is if you’re doing it wrong.
Stop saying it as if that’s the way it is supposed to be or that it’s inevitable.
Usually, kids (and inexperienced adults, even) don’t know how to properly prepare themselves for their first time (or any other time), so it ends up being painful. Not everyone goes in unprepared like that.
Naoki August 20, 2013, 6:13 PM EST.
The first time my girlfriend invited me over to her place for a date I was the same way. I was like aww yeah gonna get luck. Had to stop by the store and buy condoms for the first time. I was actually kind of embarrassed when I got to the counter, the clerk was a very attractive woman. I stumbled over my words but she just smiled and suggested I grab some lube too. And man did I get lucky. The lube was a pleasant surprise for her, she was already sexually active but this was my first time so she was probably expecting me to not know what I was doing. But I was like BAM! hold on babe let me get the lube.
Fluffy August 20, 2013, 6:15 PM EST.
I think you guys seem to be thinking that they’re like 10 and don’t understand anything about condoms or sex. I’m sure they talked it out behind the scenes. You saw Daisy, she was worried. She is going to be protected. Stop over dramatizing this. Also a LOT of 15 year olds have sex and turn out just fine. Can I just remind you that you’re reading a comic about TEENAGERS. I don’t know what the heck you even expected. Teenagers have sex, create drama, and make mistakes.
Either way this page makes Daisy look really cute. I’m also digging that Siamese girl behind her, the design is really cute, even if she’d just a background character!
DannyAzazel August 20, 2013, 6:19 PM EST.
No one said anything about sex. At least not this page.
They are just meeting up to buy protection.
Tcj333 August 20, 2013, 6:21 PM EST.
You’re generalizing. Not *all* teenagers have sex and create drama. I was hoping that Abby and Daisy would break the stereotype. Apparently, they won’t.
Eemia August 20, 2013, 6:23 PM EST.
It’s funny how Daisy’s the most naive yet she’s the one who’s progressed the furthest in her relationship. This could mean that she’s actually emotionally mature enough to sustain a relationship? I find it funny that she doesn’t get sexual innuendos but talks about sex candidly. Also Daisy please don’t get pregnant please >
hehehe August 20, 2013, 6:24 PM EST.
Bleh when they said go out and get them I thought Abby meant go out into another room to get them. o.o okay can.
hehehe August 20, 2013, 6:28 PM EST.
i like that the story is going this way. daisy and abbey feel like theyre close and they love each other enough to go through with this. its not like theyre doing it JUST to feel pleasure or to have some fun, unlike other characters
kaseysocks August 20, 2013, 6:48 PM EST.
I’m pretty sure Daisy has been over Mike for quite a while - I wasn’t sure about the timescale of the comic, but she mentioned they’ve been going out over a year.
I think Daisy is excited, but I don’t think she’s actually expecting to have sex yet - I think she’s just excited that her and Abbey are taking this step together - she’s a romantic and I think she’s looking forward to exploring this new side of herself with Abbey, and being prepared
Ramona August 20, 2013, 6:53 PM EST.
Speaking about “ages”
I Sue is now 16 and David should be turning 15 about now.
And if David is about 15 now, then Rachael is now 17.

HongKat August 20, 2013, 7:11 PM EST.
To whoever had the opinion that all teens do it, many of my peers were responsible teenagers at 15. None of us slept around at the age where most people can barely decide what major they want in college. If a 15 year old makes those sort of choices, then they probably didn’t have anyone to talk to them about the reality of the risks.
And to @stofu, check out planned parenthood. Condoms are only 97% effective alone if you use them correctly. We are assuming the characters could use it correctly. If not, it’s more of an 88% effective. If Daisy gets on the pill and they use condoms, it gets reduced to about less than a 1% chance. When you’re talking statistics, that means you can have sex about 100 times and there is almost a 100% chance you’ll get one baby. That is the best medicine can do right now. If that fails, well now you meander into an abortion debate at 15.
You really want to take those odds with no job, no committed partner, and no pill at age 15?
I_Love_Lucy August 20, 2013, 7:15 PM EST.
Haha, the other students look so engaged. At school.

@Everyone. Dasiy may just be thinking about making out with Abbey and then going to buy condoms. It does not always have to be sex or thoughts of sex! Seriously Dasiy is a smart kid and knows the risks associated with sex and will take correct precautions to avoid them. So is Abbey now that I think about it. Also the fact that they talked it out and made a good game plan was a clear sign of maturity and a responsible though process unlike most teenagers just jump into it and worry later.
Also everything up till now might have been a day dream which would explain the blush and the empty paper in front of her.

Your calculation is flawed. If the risk of having a baby with the condom and the pill is 1% and you have sex a hundred times then the risk of having one failure is only around 37%. You see, each times they have sex is a solitary event, not contingent on the other ones, hence it follows binomial distribution or:
P(epic fail)=(100!/[1!(100-1)!]) ·0,01·0,99^99=0,3697…≈0,37=37%
If you try upping the amount of failures it only goes down from there. From the same formula, which really can be cut down to 0,99^100 in this scenario – no failures at all – you get 0,366…≈0,37=37%. You do get lousier and lousier probabilities the more times you have sex, but still, it is far from 0% even at that point.
(At that point with just ill-worn condoms your likelyhood of never having a baby is somewhere around 0002.8%. You do learn to put them on correctly and use them though, so the risk is reduced a bit. In case you’re interested 0.97^100=0.047…≈0.05=5%.)
Those are not terribly good odds though, so more precautions are at hand. Getting all the times-of-the-months and stuff going on top of that. Then there are morning after pills if all else fails. All stuff they should have been told to at school by this point. Although, I guess we’ve seen their glorious sex education…
To be clear, I’m not saying it wouldn’t pay of for them to be abstinent because they are still pretty young (although, I’d say Abbey is a committed partner and they really do seem to love each other), but your math was off and, you know: http://xkcd.com/386/

Most women’s first times will be uncomfortable if not downright painful as the hymen is broken. I can’t imagine how anyone could say that a woman’s first time shouldn’t be painful at all.
Tired of Lucy August 20, 2013, 10:24 PM EST.
Really? Okay, first, “responsible teenagers at 15”? Yeah that’s a series of words that really don’t go together. If you’re speaking of abstinence as being responsible teenagers, it is not, it’s more denying your own biological truths. The fact is teenagers are a hormonal mess, the best thing to do is to get education and prepare before you get into the heat of the moment and can’t think, because it’s pretty dang inevitable. You’re bound to have a boyfriend or girlfriend, you’re going to get intimate, and you’re going to end up having sex because your body demands it. Those who do somehow avoid teen sex either A) don’t have a BF/GF or B) is not permitted to be intimately alone with them. But the fact is once the sexy train starts rolling, a teenager is not going to derail it.
As for the condoms “97%” success rate. Okay to be quite honest, I don’t know who came up with that bunch of bull hockey, but I am nearing my 30th year and have been sexually active since my 16th. This includes some booty calls while on liberty in Singapore, Hong Kong, Yokosuka and other various ports. I have yet to have a report of somebody claiming I’m the papa (Which is damn near an instant visa to come stateside if the papa’s military), nor have I impregnated my wife who DOESN’T use birth control and the only thing we use are condoms. I’m pretty sure if condoms are only effective 97% of the time I would’ve at least knocked up a couple women, including my wife.

I forget about the whole mutually exclusive bit. Kudos. You also don’t want to have to fall back on the morning after pill. Even if you take it very close to the time of failure, by then 1 in 5 will get preggers out of an unlucky failure of her control methods.
You see my point. Once you start, the odds are less in your favor with each time. And if you start early, like 15, the odds are you ain’t going to college if you keep it up.
They ought to teach probability in high school with a baby example. That would help a few young-ins realize that the odds are not in their favor with each encounter with their boo. Hell even with STDs.
Any sane human being wouldn’t easily gamble 5000 dollars with 37% chance of losing after a 100 shots. (an uninsured abortion, assuming you were okay with it and you didn’t mind risking your uterus’s chances of future kids)
I’m not trying to play moral police, but sex is a really bad idea for all pre-teens. And there is a mathematical reason why they should wait as long as possible before giving into peer pressure.
I_Love_Lucy August 20, 2013, 11:06 PM EST.
@I_Love_Lucy: So teenagers tend to undergo this phenomenon called hormones… suffice it to say that it quite effectively separates emotions and logic.
Also, we should give a name to the Siamese girl behind Daisy since she’s so popular. I’m thinking ‘Sasha’.

I feel as if they are moving WAY to fast for their ages. -.-” I don’t really like the way they are just rushing in to it because they feel as if they need to prove something. Sure they have been together for, give or take, about a year, but that doesn’t mean that either are ready for what they are planning on doing.
Kay-felis August 20, 2013, 11:13 PM EST.
It’s written on the very packages on most condoms.
I’d imagine that someone who claims to have that much experience would have actually read the label. Nevertheless, just because your personal history has not allowed it, does not make it false. You are forgetting that fertility varies. And, assuming those women had a number to call you from, chances are you’re either really lucky or not very fertile. Or the women were not honest about it and took care of themselves without you. Beats me.
I_Love_Lucy August 20, 2013, 11:16 PM EST.
I just refuse to believe that we don’t have any choice in the matter. Hormones may drive some, but we aren’t sexy-crazed animals at 15. Girls actually mature sexually around 19 or 20.
It’s like using alcohol as an excuse for sex. Control is possible and up to the individual.

Zero_hnd August 20, 2013, 11:35 PM EST.
Hahaha, okay, first of all I don’t make it a habit of reading the fine print on condoms. However, I did double check, the boiler plate disclaimer is that “less than 2 out of 100 women get pregnant during one year of typical correct and consistent use”. So going off that, it’s definitely not 97%, it’s more between 98 and 99%.
In fact that 97% sounds like it’s probably old data from back when the teen pregnancy scare was more prominent and condom QC wasn’t that great. Also, the 1 - 2% is more than likely the default error factor, a way to keep lawyers off their *** if a defective condom somehow makes it through.
As for me not hearing about it, modern military forces keeps each service members DNA on file. Partially for medical purposes, but also in the event of a mother in another country claiming that her child’s father was a member of the military. In most cases if the mother makes that claim they can track the paternal DNA to help reveal false claims. A lot of women in foreign countries know this, in some countries there’s even a practice of women “engaging” US military members purely for the chance to get pregnant so they can get a visa.
As for the fertility, I guess it could be possible that one of the women I had an encounter with was infertile, but all of them? However i’d think that the fact that both of me and my wife’s siblings are insanely fertile who have given birth to multiple children with minimal tries should be a testament to the idea that both of our bloodlines are fertile and she’s the one I’ve had the majority of my encounters with. I’d go into personal info, but i’ll just leave it that if there was a 2 out of 100 chance of getting her pregnant even with condoms within a year, she should be pregnant. Again, it’s more likely a lawyer defeating disclaimer.

Okay, is anyone else blown away by the role-defiance trend? Paulo, who used to be the playboy, is now having mental breakdowns over women left and right and flipped out over a one night stand. Mike, the wishy-washy punching bag, is now the confident man who’s accepted his bad decisions and is trying to move on with life.
And now Daisy, who claimed to be the girl no one noticed and no one is interested in, is in a happy relationship and is the first female character taking steps toward healthy, normal, non-social-circle-imploding sexual encounters?
Aside from Rachel, who I guess defied her role as “shallow man-chaser” ages ago.
Jasmine “the freshmen” is dumping Paulo for good because he’s not mature enough for her.

Everyone needs to chill about the sex thing, geez. The thing I hate most about society is that people tend to make a bigger deal out of sex than it should be. Sex is sex. Sex is natural. It is engrained in our instincts that we want to procreate. And teenagers have a harder time with that because hell, their hormones don’t even know which way to swing on the sexuality meter yet. While I personally have only been with one partner, I don’t judge others for their decisions. Especially not Daisy here, because they have been dating for a long time and truly love each other. Also, I’m pretty sure that the date is for BUYING the condoms, not having sex. To conclude, whether they are taking the next step, or buying condoms together, that’s freakin’ adorable.

AlliButt August 21, 2013, 4:04 AM EST.
@I_Love_Lucy, I’ve researched birth control pills and condom effectiveness on Google several times over, because I want to make sure I’m protected. As such, I can safely say I’ve read every website from Planned Parenthood to any number of medical sites. And not a single one of them has said ANYTHING along the lines of the “odds being less in my favor each time.” By that logic, my birth control would be magically less effective because it somehow knows I’ve done it before. It doesn’t. If I use it correctly every time, it will have the EXACT same percent of effectiveness each time.
In other words, assuming BC pills are somewhere about 98% effective, with consistent proper use it is going to stay 98% effective the very next time I do it. So if I do get pregnant, it’s from the 2% that remains. Yes, the more I do it, the more I’m betting against that 2%, but the overall percent effectiveness of the pill doesn’t drop. The odds are just as in my favor one time of having sex as they were the last time.
Also, last I checked, we’re talking about two people who are ~15 years old. Hardly “pre-teens.” Also, I’ve seen nothing in this chapter that suggests Daisy is wanting sex out of peer pressure. If anything, the only pressure either of them have had is from Janet, who’s pressuring them NOT to do it. Their group of friends certainly isn’t pressuring them to do anything. None of them have even had sex yet except for Paulo, who’s infinitely more likely to freak out about Daisy having sex than encourage her.
Paulo you could argue had sex with Jessica and Rachel out of pressure from David, who only did so to keep Paulo’s middle-school self alive, pressure which David hasn’t been seen to put on Daisy. Tess may have joked with Daisy about it early on in the chapter, but that was more Tess playing off Daisy’s naivety rather than encouraging her to sleep with Abbey. You saw that smile she gave Abbey before making out with him. That was pure desire on her own part. So really in Daisy’s environment, she has more influence to NOT have sex.
Also, like someone else said, this is a comic about teenage cats boning. It’s not a statement on society or a PSA, it’s a comic. Enjoy it.

My guess is, with Lucy leaving, Daisy’s perception of the world has changed somewhat, she is having to face the reality that things will not always stay the same. As such she may be feeling somewhat emotionally vulnerable. Life, friendships- fleeting etc. Being with one you love is one way to calm those insecurities. Of course, that isn’t to say that Daisy doesn’t want it. She knows that most relationships will lead to this eventually, she’s young and healthy, and wants to experience it like many other young people.

@Naoki the age of consent is the minimum age of a person with whom another person is permitted to engage with sexualy. It doesn’t matter if they’re both 15, 14, or 16, if it’s under what the law states, it’s ILLEGAL, and if their plan fails and she gets preggers, her mom can take legal action against Abbey. Just throwing that out there.
Again, this is just a comic, so i doubt that’ll happen.

I’m starting to believe you’ve been reading a different comic since Mike is a huge reason Lucy is currently a headcase (and gone for that matter).
AND he has also continuously avoiding getting into details of why Lucy is gone with the others, instead of facing his bad decisions, because he knows he’ll be shunned and called out on.

Age-of-consent laws are pure feel-good ******** written on paper and nothing more.
Especially considering from country to country (and probably even from state to state) the age varies A LOT.
If my memory serves me right it can be as low as 11 years old, and as high as everything under 18.
They’re nothing more than feel-good laws for parents and religious people who doesn’t know when to mind their own damn business.
And since having sex with a partner that didn’t really want to in the first place goes into a sub-category of rape, It’s already covered when it comes to pressuring someone into sex.
Long story short:
Age of consent laws = toilet paper.
Mondo August 21, 2013, 10:51 AM EST.
It will probably end with them going to buy condoms and have them both freaked by the choice since there size, ribbed, extra thick, extra lube, flavored (although for what they are thinking flavor probably wont be considered) and deciding to sex on the back burner for a while.
Also when talking about the effectiveness of contraception the odds are all ways the same for each type, say condoms are 97%-99% at least those are the figures I have seen over the years so say 98% for arguments sake.
Take 100 balls two have pregnant on them the rest not pregnant, put them in a sack, shake and pick one out 1 ball. If the out come is Not Pregnant the ball is put back into the sack.
Say they double up and use condom and the pill, you would have to setup another sack for the pill and both drawn ball would have to say pregnant. throw in other contraception and factors which can effect pregnancy and the odds of them having a child become less and less, but there will always be a chance that they will.
Although this has got me thinking what methods of contraception did Paulo and Jessica use, I know Paulo and Rachael don’t need to use any in terms of pregnancy as its been established that dog and cats can’t inter breed.
With the age of consent issues yes they are under age, depending on which laws (US,UK, etc) apply to BSCB land, but teenagers are going to have sex and people would be shouting from the rooftops if say one of them was in their 20’s and the other still under age of consent, so its all down to context.
Chrisd765 August 21, 2013, 11:26 AM EST.
Hey, the dog behind Mike is the same dog that Mike practices his lines for the play with when he auditioned.
V August 21, 2013, 12:00 PM EST.
I like your example.
Unfortunately everyone seems to be bringing in their personal experiences on the possibility of pregnancy, because me pointing out that it’s risky is making them uncomfortable. And they want to prove me wrong to justify that it’s a passable, almost non-existent, risk. Pretending that there is no risk to justify the action is flat out irresponsible.
Someone else earlier missed my point about the probability. I was not saying birth control becomes less effective with each time. But if you are constantly reaching into a fresh new bag (with each new encounter), the odds do become less in your favor over time. Not because of the birth control, but because you are still active and risking the draw. There’s an equation for that.
I_Love_Lucy August 21, 2013, 2:01 PM EST.
I really don’t want to discuss your personal life, since your entire argument was not really relevant to what I was saying. Oddly enough you question on why the odds haven’t hit you yet is something to bring up with your doctor. Not me. I’m just a girl on the internet.
I_Love_Lucy August 21, 2013, 2:05 PM EST.
I left out my personal experience because then it just become a ******* contest and after a certain age (christ that makes me sound old when I’m only 24) anyone can pull from life to say this that other.
I kind of agree and disagee about the odds dropping over time, as long as people are careful pregnancy can be avoided.
With Daisys little freakout it could be safe to assume that they will take all precautions they can, like condoms for during with the pill as a secondary measure and the emergancy pill incase of split.
But hell this will all go according to Teashi’s will.
