That’s actually decent advice. There’s no point clinging onto a relationship when the other person isn’t going to give you the time of day you need. It’d be selfish of Sandy to say she wants Mike to be part of her life but then spend most of the time away doing whatever it is she’s doing. It could be important work for her but if she can’t take the time to be with her boyfriend then she’s just causing him unnecessary emotional stress. Breaking up is hard and it sucks but it’s better then this in the long run.

That’s actually some pretty good and wise advice coming from Paulo. I like it when he shows his wiser side. It sorta hides it under a goofball exterior, but when it shows itself he becomes more likeable to me. Anyway, I think his advice is worth following. I just hope this doesn’t end with Sandy deciding that she doesn’t want him in her life anymore. Others may think of it as karma catching up with him or some kind of poetic justice. But I’d rather not see Mike get completely crushed.

I’ve always admired Paulo’s ability to ‘give it to you straight.’ Mike has stated that too, albeit inebriated. Mike is confiding in Paulo because he understands that Paulo knows when to switch gears from a snarky bullshitter to a supportive shoulder to lean on.
I think he will ultimately take Paulo’s advice, even if it is reluctantly. Even though they are high schoolers, Mike deserves to know where his relationship is going with Sandy, and what lies ahead as they near post high school life. We have only witnessed a small sample of Sandy’s lifestyle and the tremendous burden she has to carry in balancing school, career and perhaps even maintaining contact with friends who actually physically interact with her on a daily basis, let alone keep up with a near virtual long distance relationship with Mike. But it’s time they stop kidding themselves and really evaluate what they both want out of thier relationship. We’ve seen Jasmine eventually give up something for Paulo (even if it was futile). Sandy will have to make that tough decision soon of what she considers most important in her life and purge something…or someone. Paulo is inspiring Mike to put the ball in Sandy’s court. Perhaps he will even implicitly draw out an ultimatum.
Beautiful artwork on this page. I especially like way Paulo grabs his own hand with his other to prevent an even remotely perceived homosexual moment, which ironically makes it look like he is actually swooning.
