So… Has anyone thought of a good way to eliminate the scum that forms on the top of old maple syrup?

Cover it with maple syrup and it tastes fine.

have a small bag and a pump at the bottom of the jar.
when you want surup turn on the pump.
the bag fills up and the surup rises.
Take a knife and remove the top layer once the syrupe is just barly over the lip.

Does someone have a feasible and slightly sanitary solution?

you would have had to put the bag and a hose in the jar to start with.

Hence FEASIBLE. Your suggestion is just too silly and complicated for easy household and office use.

@ Peter: A lot of it is kind of a community thing. Anybody “inside,” so to speak, could tell you so but I can’t articulate it myself. It’s not meant to be intelligent or funny, etc. It’s all just happenstance.

You are either getting too much syrup, too little waffles/pancakes, or your syrup brand is crap. And your mold hatred is just fine, but it does seem a little obsessive and murderous.

Well it’s official, I hate/love watching movies with my floor mates.

Also random aside:
Jerk recommended reading “Berserk” and I just realized the scene in the castle where the guy looks in Griffith’s eye’s was in an anime I saw with my uncle when I was little, that inspired me to watch more anime because it wasn’t all weird sound effects and nosebleeds. I had watched the “Berserk” anime, which I still don’t know if it sucks or not, as a kid and now enjoy the (So far leagues better) original manga much later without even knowing it. That is weird and crazy. Thanks Jerk for blowing my fucking mind with nostalgia.
P.S. I remember the title screen on the DVD; it was the tree.

I haven’t. I just remember it fervently from my youth. Finding out it was actually Berserk, the manga you suggested this whole time and I have very much enjoyed reading, was and still is a surreal experience.
Also I remember my uncle saying it sucked anyway.

@ Gameking: The anime didn’t suck, per se, it just had a terrible ending. If they had been able to stay true to the manga, it would have been beyond epic, but there’s no way they could fund that.
