Apparently my government class has become an economics class on Taiwan.

Hmm… I guess they are a good example? Though I’m surprised your class isn’t looking at the current situation of our own Gov’t.

Well it’s a US-Chinese relations class, but our professor looooooives Taiwan, probably because he studied there. Still, why we had to learn the economics of export oriented vs import oriented I don’t know….

Isn’t most of their economy based on exports? At least it seems to be that way with a lot of our goods being made in Taiwan.

Yes, they do have a very successful export oriented economy… Well I think they still do. But it’s interesting to learn how they did in relation to the mainland, and it’s slightly inspiring.

Sean, you are correct. Taiwan has been in the exports market for a while, and because of the plethora of jobs available, Taiwan’s self-contained economy is stand-alone, and has rivaled the US’s on multiple occasions.
