I’M SO DEPRESSED

So Today, the server went down, and I was completely cut off.

At school one of my best friend’s friends who we eat lunch with tells us he has a terminal illness (Graves disease or something like that). And everyone is all upset, this one girl is even holding back tears. and I DON’T FEEL A THING. COMPLETELY BEREFT OF EMOTION AND FEELINGS OF SYMPATHY. WTF IS WRONG WITH ME?

I felt desensitized. I didn’t grieve when my great aunt died either. Previously, another classmate died (In like, 5th grade) and I didn’t care (if that’s the right word) EITHER.

I feel way too cold, too hard, too unflinchingly rational and logical. Am I inhuman?

And there was a Paramedics truck at our neighbors house too, so somebody else clearly died or was seriously injured. I’m (paradoxically) depressed because I’m not depressed.

I feel like writing a song.

I never had a chance to try out Werewolf Apocalypse, but I’ve tried one of White Wolf’s other games, Exalted, and it was good.
And ditto the time thing. Way too much going on at once.

Has anyone ever played Paranoia? That is such a great game. So ridiculous, but with this amazing back story and setting that I would love to know more about but the game hilariously side steps in the greatest ways. It is a funny, funny game.
Case in point; players are only allowed to read some of the Rules. The rest is for the person running the game, and if you know a rule from the “classified” section of the book, the person running the game can have you hauled off, interrogated, and possibly (probably) killed for treason.
Or just have you killed for failure to smile.

Paranoia is a table-top RPG, but it’s kind of weird depending on how you play it. It could be more of a board game if you let the characters die each time, which is by no means hard, or a longer game if you try to keep them alive, which is by no means possible without being amazing. Seriously, this is the game where rolling too low makes something not work, and rolling too high has it backfire catastrophically, and as the rules point out, “hilariously”.

I must know more. How popular is it?

Not crazy popular, but I’m sure if you asked around it would be heard of. I mean, it’s still in production. I’m holding the most recent edition, Paranoia Troubleshooter, right now, and if anything, I recommend buying the book to read, because it is very funny on it’s on. Think popular enough that it might be at a Barnes & Nobels, but not anything smaller, for the most part.

So much crazy fun. People teleporting inside of enemies, back firing expensive experimental weapons, blaming each other and accusing them of treason, and then sometimes you get to actually go on the mission.
Which you don’t know anything about because the commander for your mission never showed up. Or exploded. Or both.

@ box - Wow, you really can’t stick to one name can you? do you think you’re in the witness protection program or somethin’? And I meant the sentences you cited before. You didn’t react in either of those ways, so you can’t really use them as a defense.
