The origional BCB was a comic that Taeshi wrote when she was young, and she finds it all terribly embarrising and refuses to show it to anyone (Even oldschool friends of hers have only seen bits to my knowledge.)
Hell, the best I ever got was a little summary of one of the story arc’s lol.

Eh, I’m kidding. I can think of a few things I’m curious about. Like where Carter came from or how Mike and Lucy, if they were even in them, got along. YA KNOW?

Carter is a fancharacter. He is from the same creator of Carson.
Mike and Lucy were the freaken STARS of the old series. Lucy had zero dependency issues so the whole MikexLucy pairing was as obvious as anything. There was zero doubt they would be a pairing. There was nothing holding them back, not even Sandy. Sandy was promoted to being an obstacle in new BCB, in old BCB she was all just a memory and a fling Mike had.. and they never kept in contact.
They got along basically like in the beginning of BCB, rivals and teasing each other and playing games and stuff, Lucy was just your generic tomboy honestly. And Mike was the blubbering sidekick.
They got together at one point but them broke up because NOTHING CHANGED. They only kissed like once a book, that’s how unromantic they were. they were just pals and that’s it.
Then the side story happened and Lucy became a baby and Mike became a jerk and that was the magical girl rucychan period where she began pining for Mike getting back together with her again even though Mike was in love with Daisy.

Paulo was exclusively in the side story, the magical girl lucy arc, which turned out to be just some stupid dream she was having after falling into some “coma” because of a high fever. Like in the comic if it’s read there’s one comic where Lucy collapses and it’s played for laughs, but any comic after that was meant to be just her dream.
and she meets Paulo after that, meaning Paulo actually doesn’t exist. He was just a figment of her imagination. I liked Paulo too much as a character, though, so that’s why he’s a main in the new comic.
Old Paulo was just a generic nice guy and Lucy ends up falling for him whereas Mike falls for Daisy (If there was someone who was Sandy, it was definitely Daisy). This was after their break up and they began taking interest in different people, but there was some stupid bullshit story about people getting kidnapped and some “evil copy” taking over so like it turns out that Paulo was actually some villain the whole time and he’s all horrible and shit and is basically confrontationcat junior/Prototype Augustus. But I think that evil villain copy paulo changes for the better and has a moment of redemption before he dies. (the real paulo gets rescued and yeah he’s just the generic nice guy)
The silly perverted Paulo was made when I did some stupid one-off gaiden story and I just gave him that personality out of nowhere. The gaiden comic is also where I came up with Amaya.
oh speaking of Amaya, Amaya only shows up in the side story and she was an adult nurse who could talk, I liked the character enough that I made her appear in the gaiden one-off story as Sue’s classmate.. and I coincidentally noticed I gave her zero lines. So I extended that to BCB.
David was always around, he was one of the original pals. He just became less important, he was just a generic guy. He wasn’t really remotely silly, just dumb and gullible

Abbey is BCB-exclusive.
Daisy appears a period of time before Lucy falls into her coma, but after the coma Daisy and Mike become a pair and even long after that Daisy turns out to have been one of those stupid evil imposters. And Mike is absolutely heartbroken by it until he realises “wait that means the real daisy is out there I HAVE TO FIND HER”
he finds her and is all “LET’S GET BACK TOGETHER” and she’s all “umm yeah i’ve been cheating on you with my cellmate (who is the nice guy paulo oh god) sorry bro”
so mike is like BAWWWWWWWW
In the gaiden Daisy took on the fangirl personality and Mike was totally not into her, that personality extended into BCB obviously. But in the old comic he was nuts for her.
when lucy wakes up from her fever Mike is all like “durp durp I want to ask daisy out” and lucy is all “BAWWWWW” because in the dream she basically struggles the entire time to get back together with him ffffff

The comic is literally +1,000 pages spanning from the age of nine to the age of like thirteen, the side story magical arc being 300 pages of those. And the gaiden i don’t even remember how many. Not as long, but you know.

As much as I guess anything goes these days as far as who might end up with whom, I expect that MikexLucy fans will feel themselves masochists for clinging to that pairing. Insofar as any of that can be used to gauge what’s in store for us, anyway.
*slump* I need to disabuse myself of my tendency to ship. At the very least, I can say that your take on things has helped me to grow more malleable when it comes to emotional crud.

This old series sounds like something I would only like to hear about, but not to see. The upside to it is that at least you can look at your old series and then look to the new series to see just how much your writing and drawing skills have improved.
