I always thought love at first sight was not really an immediate reaction but a hind sight sort of deal. Where you look back at your first meeting and go, “Yup, I can see how we would be together forever in the way I did this and you did that…” etc. etc.
The rose-tinted glasses effect for relationships, so to speak.

“TRUE” Love at First Sight?

Well, whatever it is, Hollywood is missing the point. ^_^

I have never ever fallen in love at first sight. I have, however, fallen in lust at first sight and later love when I actually began to talk to this girl.
Then I fell out of lust when I found out how old she was, because prison is the ultimate lust deterrent.

Aside from chastity belts.

Sight is about as good at guaging love as liters are good at guaging distance.
And by that I mean it’s not good at all… in fact pretty dismal in usefullness outside of guaging a good fuckbuddy.

i was walking through the forest, i hear a loud animal noise, i go to the sound, and she was standing on top of a still bleeding mountain lion corpse with a spear in her hand.

As for me, Love hasn’t come yet, and I’m afraid that it won’t, but I’ll keep waiting for a sign.

I’ve never fallen in love, I wouldn’t know.

You know what I take back my statement, if I ever see a woman who looks exactly like the one I keep seeing in my dreams, I’m going to do everything in my power that very instant to get to know her. n___n Then I could believe in love at first sight AND foresight!
It is extremely unlikely that this someone even exists though.

I’ll be sure to alert the police of the impending rape.

True love at first site? i dont know about that, usually it takes knowing a person a bit before love happens, i mean yeah you could be intesly attracted to a person more so than usuall and that could lead to love but thats not love at first site
an intense desire to tap that? that is all too common

I thing i would like to mention it that i find it impossible to have two people fall in love with EACH OTHER AT THE SAME TIME. If this has happened, this would be nice to know.
Comment ID #102707
somewhat possible again extreme physical attraction between two people could lead to something more, though again work would be involved, so its almost possible, i know its possible to be in love with two people at once which can be very conusing but thats another topic entirely

Sex at first sight.

In response to happehface: I’ve met the girl who looked… unreasonably like the girl in my fantasies. That was a fiasco seeing as she was my girlfriends best friend.
On a more related to the original topic kinda note, I find the idea of love at first sight kinda absurd. I very rarely even find a women attractive till I get to know her. I’m the guy who when told “Oh man, look at that women walking that dog.” My first response is, “Thats a cool dog” not “She looks hot in that sports bra”
Don’t get me wrong, I like a nice body, but I’m more likely to notice it if its attached to a math major.

@The Master: Well I don’t have a girlfriend right now so it could only be so much of a fiasco right?
Comment ID #102744
@dozwhatever- it is statistically unlikely, but not impossible.

First, its Dotzrus
Second, I like Master’s answer to something as stupid as one look and boner comment
Third, I agree with the statistics statement, nothing like that is impossible, but highly unlikely.

If I believed in love at first sight, you’d think I’d be in love with at least some of the myriad porn stars I watch on the internet. As long as we’re just using sight as a basis for love, I don’t see why the internet should be an impetus.

Watched it happen to a friend of mine. Met her at a party, engaged a year later, getting married year from Friday. Been together 3 years. In his case alcohol had alot to do with it. So…drunken love at first sight?

Love at first beer goggles.

They do say that both of them impair sight, so it is a possibility. I would not advise anyone to do so, however. ^_^

Hey all some people need is a night of passion to spark a lifelong partnership. I, however, will require much more upkeep >8)
Comment ID #103406
Oh yeah, i forgot to mention a rule, do not talk about falling in love when you or someone else was drunk, it can get real nasty.
Comment ID #103415
I don’t know what love is, I just do as I’m told.

This is, and I hate to say it, a semantics issue. With out a clear definition of love, we can’t really say anything about it.
As far as I’m concerned though, my definition of love precludes the possibility of love at first sight. Love is a combination of affection, loyalty, lust and other such things towards another person. To have these feelings towards a ‘person’ and not just ones own mental idea of what the person might be, requires you to actually know the person.
You can’t love a person at first sight because there is nothing about them for you to love yet. You don’t love the way they laugh, you don’t love the cute look in there eyes when they tell you they forgot to bring something, you don’t love their sense of humor, or their real personality.
You can’t, again by my definition, love a person you don’t know. You are, at most, loving an idea of what they might be. It’s possible that they might be just as lovable as your idea of them was, and you might end up actually loving them which such a smooth transfer from fantasy to reality that you don’t even notice. But to say you can love some one when you know nothing more about them than what they look like and what clothes they decided to wear that day, sounds extremely shallow to me.

This is what im talking about, its pretty much impossible for TRUE love at first sight.
Perverted love or lust is completely out of the question

With humans, there is always an exeption but to my opinion. The girl that currently holds my heart, most of you would pass her over, that i’m serrtan. But to me she’s something else. it took a little time though. We met on a dateing site, me looking for love with a fresh bleeding heart, her looking for friends to hang with. We started talking over fire (i’m a pyro) and sharp objects, it took off from there. she may not be hot by “populer” standards but to me she’s an infurno thet consumes me. So the point is it takes time for love to grow and not a glance.

I think “true” love is puppy love at first, to what you are immediately attracted to. But when done correctly, the love grows into a solid base for actual caring and compassion.

@Lark60- thus love is warmed and heated by fire and protected by sharp weapons
