I think that they essentially abandoned their old core audience with the new music and that they should at least make an effort to get back to their roots.

Yeah, they still have it in them, but Hybrid Theory was defo their best album. Some of their new music was made for a crappy film though, so you can’t blame them if it sounds bad :P

once upon a time there was a boy who discovered that his older siblings music was quite good, he had a particular liking for linkin park, and a few years later he bought the album ‘minutes to midnight’ and discovered that it, for some reason, was not very good,
And so he abandoned linkin park and decided to listen to system of a down and Serj tankians solo works, a few more years later his ears, from a far off distance, heard something that sparked a sorowful sense of nostalgia, songs that he knew, had he heard them earlier, would have loved readily, and thus i sit here with ”chop suey” at an ear shredding volume, wondering if it would have been worth it to stick with linkin park for just that few more years.

The Catalyst is my favorite linkin park song, it songs demonic at first and then a really nice beat.

I can’t stop listening to The Catalyst while I’m playing Medal of Honor. They picked the perfect song for the trailer. (Plus, epic drum beat)

Anyway, I find them good overall.

Second Favorite Linkin park Song is Breaking The Habit,
Video is kinda strange, but listen to it with your eyes closed or just listen to it without the video and it sounds cooler.

They actually made an advert for MoH with catalyst as the music… needless to say, it was epic :)

Hay man, give some love to “in the end”. But breaking the habit is good but numb ranks over it to me. still though, you have good taste in picks.

Considering that I am no longer a tortured youth, I find my interest in Linkin Park severely compromised.

I love how Waiting For The End starts like a rap, then goes slow, then moves to rock, the beat and rhythm is excellent.

I think they’ve had their moments, but are otherwise not worth listening to in my opinion.

The reason there is always a dispute over the musical change in a band is that people tend to limit themselves to one genre or style of music. Tool is another example of a band who changed their style, and lost some of their core followers, although Tool thinks they’re making better music. However, there are a lot of core followers that still listen to the new stuff, and these people tend to listen to wide ranges of musical styles.

On the one side, this musical change of bands over time is viewed as an abandonment of the musical audience that associates themselves with the band’s songs, for whatever reason. On the other, it’s viewed as musical growth. Some people don’t like that growth, but the band believes it’s making good music, and they’re making music that they want to make. Band’s don’t forget about their followers; they just want to rock, and they get bored of writing the same sort of stuff over and over again. The “core” followers are a bit close-minded in what their definition of music is in the first place, so it’s inevitable that a growing band will lose them.

Linkin Park, and a lot of their followers, believe that the band is going through musical growth. They’re taking their experiences in music and trying to create songs that relate to a broader audience. The lyrics are most definitely more poetic in every meaning of the word, the melodies mesh in a kinder manner, and the style has, yes, taken a step back from hardcore rap/rock. However, individuals who have the mindset that there are many good genres of music will most likely keep listening to the band, as they should.

Honestly, it’s these followers that any band cares about in the first place.

The only thing I like about’em is that their song has a “meaning” that gives me the right emotion whether it’s sad, happy, angry, etc. But still they just bring me to life like Numb,Given up,The catalyst,Faint just awesome life filling music oh one more thing their like Rap+Rock+techno=Linkin Park.Thousand suns album don’t know anything bout’it
