I’m a Junior in High School, and I’ll admit I still watch cartoons, hell, even Power Rangers if its a good enough season.

I always hear about how cartoons aren’t as good as they used to, and in some cases they might be right. But I’m a man who understands life changes as the years go by. Cartoons end and begin, suffer and…the opposite of suffer.

Point is, do you watch any cartoons still? Any special memories of those cartoons? Any modern cartoons you suggest?

No, animes do not count. This is Western Animation. And don’t talk about how ‘the live action version’ sucked, even if it did suck.

I’ll just go ahead and start. Some good past cartoons right now…

Justice League, Teen Titans, Transformers Animated, Ben 10 (first series only), Megas XLR, Danny Phantom, and Avatar: the Last Airbender were all some great cartoons with great writing behind them.

For more modern cartoons, Generator Rex is good, Sym-Bionic Titan is a fun show, Scooby-Doo Mystery Inc is fantastic, Batman the Brave and the Bold is just a lot of fun, and Spectacular Spider-man was easily the BEST cartoon I’ve ever seen. Greg Weisman is genius.

Now you try. Talk about cartoons!

I’m 22 and I still watch them sometimes. I miss Snorks and Smurfs. The old Disney cartoons were pretty awesome, too.

One of my favorite things to do with the Ben 10 series (original) is to pick at the ‘subtext’ between Ben and Gwen. Am I the only one who’s ever seen those two as MORE than just cousins?

Samurai Jack and Foster’s home for Imaginary Friends were both good. And there was this cool Farscape Episode, “Revenging Angel” which parodied the cartooning style of Chuck Jones, who was, in my opinion, one of the greatest cartoonists ever known.

This is all western animation, however, with no regards to anime and such.

Oh yes, Samurai Jack, too. I do not think I have ever laughed so much at a Cartoon Network program. ^_^

Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends. At age 8, I hadn’t laughed so hard in my life. Also Kim Possible before it turned into some stupid tween drama.

Yeah. Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends was my whole late childhood, pretty much.
Also, Brandy and Mr. Whiskers was one I always watched when I was around 10-12.

AND 90’S CARTOONS! Rocco’s Modern Life, Doug, Hey Arnold, The Wild Thornberrys…. I could go on and on.

The Fairly OddParents was also a great cartoon when I was a kid, but honestly it started to suck after 2008 when they added the baby.

I still watch cartoons today, but not as much as I used to when I was a kid… Mainly because Cartoon Network doesn’t have too much good stuff and Disney and Nick only air stuff like iCarly and Hannah Montana etc… But I still watch Camp Lazlo, Spongebob Squarepants and Tuff Puppy.

I highly recommend Sym-Bionic Titan. Its made by the same guy who made Samurai Jack. Its a mecha anime, and rated PG. The animation is kind of weird, but the fight scenes, especially the giant ones, are usually great.

Rocco’s Modern Life is the only thing I remember actually enjoying when I was a child, but I grew to like Rocket Power immediately following the first time I read “Tito Time.”

Also Spongebob.

I sometimes watch Digimon for nostalgia. But only up to Series 3, 4 and newer were Disney made and so were rubbish.

Disneymon.

When Disney try’s to mix animation with live action it always sucks like with Garfield and G-Force but they seem to have finally clued in with the release of The Princess and the Frog.

Dude danny phantom and crap is way too recent.

Invader Zim
Rocko’s Modern Life
Rugrats
Courage the Cowardly Dog
Samurai Jack
The old transformers cartoon (not this butchered one that’s on now with bumble bee)
Doug
Pre 2007ish Fairly Odd Parents
Justice League
Teen Titans
Way back when BeastMorphs (if only for the lols)
ReBoot
etc.

Flapjack is a good recent one because some of it’s humor is pretty twisted considering the rest of what’s on these days.

There’s another cartoon coming out called Young Justice. Its about a group of young, DC sidekicks and their growth as heroes. Yes, I know, it sounds very Teen Titans.

I recommend it, if only for ONE reason. Greg Weisman is the producer. For those of you who don’t know WHO Greg is, he’s the guy who made Gargoyles (first three seasons, anyways), the last season of W.I.T.C.H., and made the Spectacular Spider-man, which I will go on to say is one of the BEST cartoons I’ve ever seen. The characters, the jokes, the villains, the action, all A+ material.

Here’s the preview of it. It will have a one hour special on November 26, and the series premieres in January.
