Ever Think That Maybe Lucy’s the Problem?

No seriously, she spent the entire first half of the comic abusing the living shit out of Mike. Then when the poor boy is finally in a happy relationship and stops leading Lucy on, everyone one wants to jump on the “Mike’s a big Jerk” bandwagon.

And don’t even get me started on Paulo, yes he’s a man whore but seriously? Once again Lucy does nothing about sharing her feelings with him. In fact all she does is try to force him into a relationship by having sex with him cause she’s on the rebound, NOT THE WAY TO GET THE GUY, LUCY!

So why does everyone want to jump to Lucy’s side? She needs to grow up and learn to be self-sufficient, and to stop throwing herself at guys. That is the only way she will ever be happy and stable.

Then she can go off and marry Mike cause we all know that’s OPT. *Bricked*

She is emotionally and mentally unstable, has caused more problems than David, and acts like she is the victim. I’d agree that most of the drama is her fault.

This is a discussion? Seriously?

I thought it was well established that Lucy is nuttier than a mixed nut bag and is the centrifugal force behind most of the headaches caused in BCB, hence the concept that if Lucy and Paulo had gotten together, Lucy would have been happy, and Lucy being happy would have killed all drama and ended the comic.

Try to keep up folks :p

GOD!!! I am sick and tired of all these anti-Lucy bitch-and-moan 12-yr-old morons whining about how much they hate Lucy and how everything’s her fault and how Mike is SOOOO much better.

Mike AND Lucy are BOTH IDIOTS!!!

I go to her because she has a vagina.

In all seriousness, I do want MikeXLucy to work. I don’t know, I’m a sucker for those love hate relationships. But I will agree that Lucy needs to learn to be a bit nicer to her friends. I’m mean to my friends sometimes, but not as far as she is!

I think is her fault too. Mike seems like being a jerk with her but he has a fair reason. He already got over his feelings about her and opened his eyes to realize that Lucy was being a bitch with him all this time while he lived only for her, and he’s in all his right to be mad at her.

But I agree with Maverik, the most interesting drama is because of Lucy and if all her angst finishes, also the drama u.u

Lucy is, of course, a problem. So is Michael, and Paulo, and David, and Jessica, and Rachel, and Tess, and Sue, and Daisy, and Abbey, and Sandy, and so on. I think I am moving further and further away from assigning them any blame as that point would be witheringly moot. ^_^

But honestly, it is a testament to how great the writing is when all the characters are so flawed and we still bring ourselves to love, hate and talk about them.

Besides, to paraphrase (and change, ever so slightly) what Maverik said: Without drama, there would be no comic. Or if the comic still existed and everybody was fluffy happy unicorn sunshine puppy, it would be terminally boring to everyone except me. ^_^

You guys do remember that Mike ditched her for Sandy wayyy back when, right? Not saying she didn’t stuff up. But her methods of getting Mike’s attention had always worked before. In her mind, why should that change?

Until now of course. But yeah. and Jerk, I think lucy is the naive one. She only really knew how to get mike’s attention via pushing him around.

Tho. I think eventually if she can’t fix that. she’ll end up like Azula from Avatar:The last airbender. ((avatar spoiler alert!!))

I agree that they both are the problem. They need some serious sit down and talk about how they feel time just between them, and probably some psychological help as well. Maybe not on the same level as Abbey but something similar.

and @ILB - I agree completely, I’ve only stumbled upon this comic a few weeks ago on the Broken Plot Device comic website and now I’m hooked :O

I’m just saying people immediately go to blaming the guy in the relationship cause “OH noes! Lucy is sad and a girl let’s feel sorry for her!!” If she was a guy (We’ll use their GB names for consistency) and this abuse to Michelle, we would demand that Michelle leave him that very moment and go find a healthier, stabler relationship until Lucius picked up his act. We would not stand by and blame Michelle for the situation.

In other words I’m saying that you all are sexist.

Mike is trying to put some distance in between himself and Lucy, because he has feelings for her. He wants to salt the earth, so to speak, so that she can adjust to life separate from him, and so that he can remain faithful to Sandy. His original scarf being the same shade of blue as her eyes was for a reason, and he’s been getting rid of as many of those feelings(and things associated with those feelings) as possible.

He has no choice, really. Unless he’s an actual jerk and lets Lucy hope for a “one day” that will never come.

She’s in a pretty bad place at the moment, Lucy is. She’s confessed her love, and been rejected. She tried rebounding, but Paulo didn’t do it, and that left her feeling alone again. She is very lonely, all the time, and has a hard time letting people in. She is, in essence, tempted by the only people she would feel comfortable letting get that close. Mike can’t, Paulo won’t, what will happen?

Before we know it, evil revenge scheme will be in play, and drama will abound. Prepare for dramatic reshuffling of relationships and friendships. My guess is that FFC’s gang leader type has revenge in mind. I’m not going to go in depth on what I think is going to happen, but I hope it happens how I think it will(yay for character development!).

She’s got a lot of pressure, this should be awesome comics forever.

Joobles October 26, 2010, 4:44 PM EST.

Comment ID #111523

If you really want to bring up Mike’s old scarf, it’s the same shade as Sandy’s ribbon too.

So even though we use that on the ship as our flag, it still can’t really be used to sum up Mike’s old feelings. Yes it’s symbolism but the whole eye thing is just coincidence. And Lucy has plenty of people (like Sue) who have tired several times to reach out to her and have only recently started to actually get to her.

Yay Sue!

They’re reaching, and getting through, but she’s still got trust issues. Final Fantasy Note Taker probably built a veritable dossier on them in order to cause drama.

Well yeah, but Mike’s taking a firm stance, and he finally came out and told her straight that they have no future together. She clung to him pretty hard, and she’s going to have a hard time really letting go.

I get the feeling that Maverik, ILB and a few other assorted people are standing on a hill, looking bewildered and wondering what the hell is happening below them as a fight between the MikexLucy shippers and everyone who hate Lucy for whatever reason. I’m just happy Lucy is Lucy. And ILB, I think I’d probably read an angst-free BCB. It would be interesting, to say the least :)
