Holy Business batman!

Comment ID #113500

So i went to the hobby shop in town (the ONLY hobby shop in town) and asked the owner about applying for a job. He didnt have any openings but i asked if i could stick around and learn about it. When i told him i was thinking of opening my own shop, he offered to SELL the shop to me! Can you believe it? this nice old man has owned 4 different stores over the years, this one being his fourth. And hes willing to sell it to me. Me! a 19 year old who just happens to be pretty damn ambitous. He’s asking 90k for it.

Advice? Anything that could help?

The big question:

Should i go for it?

Sounds like a plot for a sitcom.

I won’t give any advice, since I have no experience in the situation.

Research :) he might be old, but it doesn’t mean he could be trying to trick you.:(

You’re going to need a second opinion from someone not on the internet. If the location is good and the price, it turns out, is fair, you could flip it into a profit-making business venture. Get your facts first.

How many people can it fit? Like, really jam them in, find short people to fill the gaps. Multiply that number by 1000, divide by 2, subtract the number of people, then add that same number divided in half and multiplied by 2, add 1000, then give me how ever many dollars equal to the number you just got.
Boom. Business successful.

I would try and find out why he is willing to sell it first. If business has been down lately, how could you improve it? Don’t get in over your head too fast. Be sure you’ve got plans and the means to put those plans in action before you decide.

i know. He’s selling simply because he wants to see young blood succeed. Im slowly but surely pulling a plan together.
