In an odd contradiction, Paulo is simultaneously my most like and most frustrating character choice. I’m rooting for him constantly, but his decisions still bug me.

Even though Lucy is one of my favorite characters, I also find her to be one of the most frustrating. I also find Paulo irritating at times.

Paulo is a freaking pussy now!

What’s his face, Final Fantasy Cat. Yeah, that guy. He’s a good antagonist, but I guess that’s what makes ya wanna sock his face.

He’s not too bad, we only see a bit of him.

Paulo’s not a pussy (at least not in the figurative sense). He’s growing up. He’s slowly giving up on old behaviors that no longer compliment his current life and interests.

So far, I feel he’s had the best character development over all.

No, he’s experiencing what a real date is like and thus learning that he’s not the hot stuff he thinks himself to be. But instead of being dignified about it, he’s doing the opposite…

You’re only looking at the most recent event Pronkat. Consider how much he has changed since he entered high school. He doesn’t just chase after girls anymore, at least not with as much enthusiasm or seriousness as he used to. And there have been plenty of chances for him to make moves on several characters, major and minor, that he has passed up. He and David (who HASN’T changed) are beginning to distance as a result. And he has developed a clear attraction to one particular individual

He’s even observed the changes himself. And in one horrible backpeddeling moment decided to start chasing after girls again, in an attempt to resist those changes.

And this isn’t finding out what a REAL date is. This is finding out what it’s like to be used to hurt someone else. There is nothing real about this scenario.

For a guy who said he doesn’t do drama, he sure has a lot of rebounding in his life.

I’d have to say it isn’t a date if both parties aren’t in agreement on that point. Paulo may think it’s a date. But his “date” sure doesn’t.

Also, I don’t believe the “guilt” part has even come into play yet. Paulo’s nervous because he’s not used to having a female pushing him around outside of Tess. The guilt part will come later, when Tess finds out.

This is all speculation of course.

People seem to hate/dislike Abbey a lot. My question is, if Abbey went Postal (Though preferably with a flamethrower), would people like his character more or hate him for being a crazy “emo” with “Incredible Hulk”-impersonation issues? To put it in a less silly way, if Abbey wasn’t so afraid of his own temper, would he be a better character?

Also, Can we be frustrated with a character because he/she doesn’t get enough face time?

I’m frustrated with… Michael. Yes, Michael. The others might be annoying, but always in a fun way.

Though, I think Paulo was annoying at first. Until he met Tess, that is. I think he’s been a jerk for the last four or so pages, but he looks so in deep water that I almost have to forgive him. ^_^

Paulo is being foolish right now. But he’ll come around, I’m sure of it. And if not, Lucy will bring him around.

Poor Paulo doesn’t get a breeze. ^_^u Ok, he certainly has been a total jerk with an empathy coefficient similar to a poisonous mushroom. But well… he has been gotten better, and I feel a bit identified with him in this last chapter… The teenage mind can do really weird things when it gets hurt in its pride (or at least mine did… a lot ^^u).

@Pronkat/@BBQ: Though… I find interesting the possible hypocritical bravado. In truth, until the summer arc I also thought all of his “stories” were just that… But in the last episodes he was giving me other impression (and in this last chapter… unless he is REALLY good at lying to himself, it really seems he has truly scored in the past).

Anyway, the thing that it’s clear is that he isn’t used to being treated with such harshness in a “date”… But I totally agree with earlier posts: he should have seen it coming as Jessica was totally sincere with her reasons to go with him.

And I went totally out of topic here in a surge of fanboyism… Er… Shoo Error you infuriating raven look-a-like harbinger of internet problems! Fixed.

@x_uve: I agree, though I also think that Paulo finds himself on the deep end of the pool because he does have feelings for Lucy. And Tess, possibly, but (presently) that is what bugs me about him - he seems to have forgotten all about her. He is in a very strained situation, being pulled to all sides by everyone (nearly, at least), and clearly the Lucy situation must be fresh on his mind, but I am slightly annoyed by the fact that Tessa came in second.

But as I said, I’m not frustrated with Paulo. Just mildly annoyed.

I’m so disappointed in the PauloxLucy theme lately. I miss Tess and PauloxTess and, at the very least, PauloxTess flirting.

In truth I agree with you both on that… With all the Lucy drama and Paulo being so inside it, it’s been some time since the last time we have anything TessxPaulo.

Anyway, that’s prone to return sooner or later. Let’s enjoy tormented Paulo meanwhile.

Actually, part of the reason I probably like this comic so much is that it reminds me of high school. Most people would think I’d be one of the people who had the crush… but no, I was Mike. Yeah… that guy who has a crush on someone and ignores people around him in favor of them. The annoying part is, I’m glad I did, but reading the comic makes me feel REALLY bad because I see a lot more of the female end of things… which is really, really depressing and sad. He kind of frustrates me as, while he is much meaner than I was, he is still insufferable.

Of course, I also enjoy that he is there, even if he frustrates me so much, watching him not even notice he is hurting people.

After David almost killed Mike and acted nonchalant in regards that, he touched Lucy’s chest while she was fainted. And when Paulo tries to do the right thing for a change, he’s there to send him in the wrong path again.
