Bittersweet Candy Bowl

I love the Power Rangers. Yes, I know I’m a junior in high school, but I’ll always have fond memories of watching their adventures. While I’m not the same addict as I was once before, I have kept a small eye on the series as it grew.

Now my question to you is, do you remember Power Rangers? Any fond memories from it? Any not-so-fond memories? Any comments?

And if anyone is asking, YES. Power Rangers is still on. Well in a manner of speaking. As far as I know, there’s no new season on right now, but a badly remastered version of the original Power Rangers, but a new season is being made. Power Rangers: Samurai!

The Forerunners.

I loved the first ones. Jason, Billy, kimmberly, Zack, Tommy, can’t remember the yellow one. they were bad ass. All the new ones are ass bad

I know them. But Power Rangers, or rather Super Sentai, is the most famous example of a group of brightly and strangely dressed people attacking a rubber monster.

Kamen Rider is a more ‘strangely dressed person attacking a rubber monster’ series.

……One wonders what the Japanese were thinking when they made this….Actually, that can be said about a lot of things Japan has done.

Trini. The yellow one was Trini…..By yellow, I mean her suit color, not her skin…..Seriously, what the hell? The African guy is the black ranger and the Asian girl is the yellow ranger? WHY?!

And I’ve seen bits of all the seasons, and each of them vary from bad, to decent, to awesome.

Operation Overdrive for example….It was sucky. Time Force was good though. In Space, Lost Galaxy, and RPM were also good.

Heh, i used to watch it when the first season came out. Some - what? - 10 years back? And it was the dubbed version, too. Do they still shout “It’s time to morph!” or something like that when they transform?

And the movie didn’t introduce the white ranger. He joined in season 2. God, I’m a nerd for remembering that.

You know, in one season there was a Red Ranger who tried fighting a giant monster…while on foot….with just his pistols. Just food for thought. Stupidity or bravery, you be the judge.

Its Morphing Time? Sadly no. That was mostly in the Zordon era. After Zordon died, they kinda stopped using it as far as I know.

Fun Fact: Johnny Yong Bosch, who played Adam, the second Black Ranger, is now an anime voice actor. He’s lent his voice to the English dub of Haruhi Suzimiya, Trigun, Prince of Tennis, and Code Geass. Good to see he’s made a career for himself.

I don’t remember those years very well because I’d sit so close to the TV trying to drown out my parents screaming at each other but my attentions were obviously divided. Good times, good times.

Morphing time was bad ass, thats when the theme song would kick in and you’d get all pumped.

I had (maybe still have) these really old Power Rangers movies that I would watch over and over again.
One was about Ivan Ooze or something.
In one, the white/silver ranger was discovered (unless that isn’t a movie)
In another, they travelled through time or something and were going to have their memories erased
in another, there were clones of the Rangers and they spray painted their suits to win

I’ll always remember the character Zed because at the time my aunt was planning to marry a guy named Zed but he died in a car crash. I had like, 4 pokemon named after him because I thought that was the coolest name ever.

Anyone remember how Power Rangers in Space had a zord that turned into the megazord’s groin?

I was an old school power rangers nut, had the bad ass version of the belts, and sweet replacas of the wepons

1: Ivan Ooze is the Power Rangers the Movie villain.
2: Sounds like just a bunch of episodes of the series put together. The White Ranger was introduced in a series of episodes during season 2.
3: That sounds like Power Rangers Zeo, or at least a prequel to it.
4: That’s in Space.

Tommy was in a later season of Power Rangers. Power Rangers Dino Thunder, which was a sort of spiritual sequel to the original Power Rangers.

Was the red ranger with the motorcycle from the past/future named Wesley? I think I remember him…
Also I played the Dino Thunder game long ago and it was terrible. By that time I had decided the show wasn’t much good anymore.

Meh. I liked In Space, Time Force, and RPM. Those are the seasons that stick out for me when I think best season. Not including the first, of course.

I don’t think SPD deserves the title of worst. Operation Overdrive, maybe, but that season at least had Once a Ranger. That was an awesome special.

Yeah King, the porn thing was a joke, i’m pretty sure. It was just used in the “Super Freakin Parody Rangers” flash series to milk it for what it was worth.

There was still a nude scene with one Power Ranger though. Maya, the Yellow Lost Galaxy Ranger had one in Cabin Fever, I believe.

MMPR (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers) were the only TRUE power rangers. All the others are wannabes, so they cosplay as their own fancharacter rangers and form fanteams. Thus becoming more known, then become canon. ANY PRs OTHER THAN MMPR ARE FANCHARACTERS/FANTEAMS AND SHOULD NOT BE CANON!!!

ok, i’ll admit that ZEO, Ninja Storm, in Space, and TURBO were really good, but still not as good as the original.
