Lucy has problems.

MANY problems.

And after the fight that Daisy caused, she goes and tries to sleep with Paulo. YOU SURE PROVED YOU LOVE MAISHUL THERE! In reality, it’s her dependency. Had Paulo not been screwed with in 2nd grade and talked to Lucy without outside sources interfering, Lucy would probably cling to Paulo.

Lucy does indeed have problems, many of which she has brought upon herself, for example had she not been effectively pushing Mike away and rejecting his rather obvious interest in her while his communications with Sandy had all but fallen into obscurity than things might very well be different. Heck if re-reading some of the early and mid chapters and one could argue that many of Lucy’s actions toward Mike border on abusive, it was only a matter of time before any rational person has just has enough of that.
Of course quite a few of her problems can be directly attributed to a very friendless childhood as well as the fact that she was effective abandoned by of one her only true friends during elementry school. Mike, although a kind person does not seem to realize that his actions can and do effect others nor did he seem to realize how much he was hurting Lucy at the time. Enter middle school and Lucy has grown used to isolation, has learned not to trust, has become hopelessly attached to Mike, and now has every reason to expect more of the same. Her…more violent tendencies can be seen a way to defend herself from a cruel world around her and while she often does act selfish it can also be seen as a product of her early life. I mean who (outside of her family) really cared about her during her earliest years of life? Mike did, and he ignored Lucy for Sandy, life has taught Lucy to be selfish.
Yes would consider Lucy to be an a**hole at times, but frankly I’m not sure I would act much differently in her shoes (proverbially speaking of course).

I wouldn’t say A**hole.
I would say an a**hole is a person that hurts others for fun, and usually don’t care if they are hurting the others or not.
Like Paulo.
Lucy has her issues. She is not right, and has done incredibly mean things, but not an a**hole.

Reading this, I’m inclined to agree with Lyucs on Lucy. However, Paulo actually seemed like one of the nicer characters, to me! He is sorta the opposite of Mike- ordinarily, he’s happy to joke around and say mean things, or maybe step over a few lines hitting on the ladies, but when someone (like Lucy) is really down, he shows a softer side, and makes an effort to help them. Then, of course, we have his recent… escapades… I’m not really sure what to make of that, but it wasn’t very well thought out of him
BUT ANYWAYS
@(nameless) You have a good point; only looking at recent events was a pretty closed way of seeing the problem. Lucy basically has always acted like she hates everyone, but Mike especially. Maybe that wasn’t how she felt, but actions speak louder…

@ OP: No. She is an anthropomorphic cat.

Lucy has to deal with the consequences of her actions. It was obvious to everybody she liked Mike and she stubbornly ruined 99.9 percent of her chance to be with him.

I made this thread a while ago.
We decided everyone has problems and should get over them but then the comic would be boring and so we all stopped bitching.

Truer words have rarely been spoken. ^_^
Playing the Blame Game in this comic is nigh impossible. Besides, good decisions can lead to bad things and bad ones can lead to good things. Oh well.

But, then again, if we don’t discuss, the forum will be boring.
Let’s flame, people!

Lucy should not just think about SANDY’s feelings, but everyone’s. If she had just listened to her own heart, she might have gotten to Mike before he caught back up to Sandy. If she thought about Mike’s feelings, he wouldn’t be as bitter as he is now(or at least has been for the past few chapters) She had her chance to be with Mike, and she scared it away with her bitching.
Also Lyucs, your definition of A**hole hits Lucy pretty dead on. recheck the whole comic before the Acapulco incident.

That was the most realistic impression of Lucy on the entire forum, well played sir!

Good job jerk. Now do one post-rejection, like “BAWWWW I’M LUCY I GOT REJECTED SO I WILL PRETEND THEY NEVER CARED ABOUT ME” but you know, good.

@Ark
well, It’s not like she rejoiced at the idea of hurting others… she more like didn’t care, really xD
But true, maybe I’m being unfair to Paulo.
He really was amazing in that Lucy angst arc…
Head back to the forum index.

Hurray, starting out on a new forum with blatant plagiarism! Ark, I give you full credit. Anyway, I was going to badly derail the Mike thread if I didn’t start another one.
I find Lucy to be the most interesting character in the Comic, because I really don’t know if I think she is an (above expletive) or not. In the chapters from her POV, especially in “A distance apart,” I can see why she does what she does. I find it impressive that she has the honesty to finally confess her feelings to Mike, but I am repulsed by her assumption that he will love her back. He is in a healthy relationship! He Loves Sandy, and she loves him. If Lucy can’t tell Mike the truth, “Mike, you are my best friend, and I think I love you, and my hiding that has been destroying our friendship,” and tell him this to save their friendship, not to get him to leave Sandy, maybe she shouldn’t have spoken at all.
On the other hand, taking that high road would take incredible, almost Mary-Sueish maturity. I’m not sure I would be able to do it, and Lucy is a whole lot less rational and self aware than I. I won’t call her an (above expletive) for merely being imperfect. However, she still acted incredibly selfishly, without any concern for how Sandy might feel.
So, what do you guys think?
