Bittersweet Candy Bowl

This has been nagging on me for some time. Shortly put, I have been lying to you - I am not a girl, nor a woman, but male.

I am sorry for leading you on like this. It started as a silly idea back on the BCB fan forums, me wanting to see what it would be like to play female. Have any of you suspected this? I would be a bit surprised if nobody have. But I would like to assure you that I have not lied to you about anything else, except for what comes in direct relation to it (for instance, my nickname was never ilikeboys, and my real name is not Erle (as that is a girl’s name)). Why do I emphasise this? Why did I bother to bring any of this up in the first place? This is going to sound like politician speak, but I value honesty. I have been dishonest with you, and I want to say that I am sorry about that.

The reason I am telling you this now, however, is because I have been compared to things I otherwise never would have been - like, for instance, Nero’s late mother. I do not feel worthy of that comparison, not by a long shot. Again, I am sorry about my lie. It became all too clear for me with this, as I do not want to dishonour her memory. Other things also affected this decision, too, but that was the most powerful among them.

Some of you may not care about this, others might. Either is fine by me. If you do not care, I am (selfishly) glad. But if you do, I want to say that I am deeply sorry for lying to you, and I hope that you can forgive me. Am I overdramatising this? Possibly, but rather that than being facetious about it. I feel like you have all gotten to know me on wrong premises, and I have grown really fond of this community and this comic. I am truly sorry.


So, bottom line (or TL;DR if you are so inclined ^_^): I am not female, but male. And I am sorry for leading you on. Care if you will, and if you do not, that is also fine.

… That’s all the drama you get from me. Except possibly some fretting over how I worded this. Oh well. ^_^

Well, male or otherwise, I was referring to your sunny disposition, not your genitalia, so no worries there. Just continue to be overly sunny, and you will have honored her memory. Besides, gender has been tossed around so much here, I just try not to think about it too much. You are still ILB to all of us.

It doesn’t matter what gender you are, you are a good person. I’m sure nobody here will think any differently of you.

Honestly, I haven’t payed attention to your (or many others’, for that matter) gender. Besides, we can’t see you through this code, so it’s really your mind and your thoughts that have shaped who we (or at least, I) perceive you to be.

So in short, yeah, gender is irrelevant.

If anything it makes many events more comical, don’t worry about it.

Be ye be male or female I care not. It is whether or not you admit your mistakes and accept the punishment that decides my opinion.

You have come clean and admitted your lie. For that I forgive you.

You have accepted any punishment that comes your way. For that I befriend you.

ILB, Gender does not matter on the internet. Male or female, you’re still the same person.

I don’t really hang around enough to say that I know you, but I can say that I don’t really care if you’re a guy or a girl.

Well to be honest I suspected something but its ok because you came out about it and were sincerely sorry.

However there are things we all can learn from this.

It is EXTREMELY easy to lie over the internet. You can’t know someone unless you’ve talked face to face. And Theres a good chance you will be forgiven about lying if you just come out about it.
