So my boyfriend got Black Ops

Comment ID #125629

He spends way too much time playing it. What should I do?

tell him it’s either you or the game. And if he picks you, break the disk for the game in front of his face, then kiss him on the cheek and walk away.

Sincerly ask him if he could stop playing and spend more time with you because you’re worried he’s spending too much time playing Black Ops.
Make an effort to enjoy watching him play, or better yet play split-screen Combat Training with computers set to Recruit. Try and enjoy it with him.
Ask if you both can play a different game, or maybe watch a movie. Don’t walk up and tell him to stop so you can not know what to do.
Above all, don’t force him to choose between you or the games. It may seem immature, but games are, obviously, a huge part of my life, and if someone asked me if it was them or the games I would have a tough choice. They let large groups of friends hang out indirectly and are easier to coordinate than a traditional event. Be understanding and everything will work out.
Or chop his balls off.

Several different ways of going about this:
1) Learn to play with him.
2) Try to arrange more dates elsewhere to get him away from the game for a bit.
3) Use your *ahem* “feminine wiles” to get his attention.
4) Wait a month and he’ll get bored with it.

The lurker Trev here.

Im with the OTHER mike. options 1 through 3 seem like the best options. 4 requires patience and theres no garuntee he’ll just walk away. If hes a CoD gamer..he’ll stick to is for awhile unless you find something else to grab his attention. I recommend option 3 to begin with, followed by option 2. daily.

Try and play with him y’know like your interested and then you’ll go multiplayer 1on1 with him and then if he lose on your match give him a dare saying “Have a date with me some time please”.Y’know something like that you place bets on your 1on1 match with him if you win you ask him for a date or two if he wins I don’t know.Any way you decide I’m just helping

Hun, just tell him that it’s “Me or GTFO”, and, if all else fails, follow the video guidelines.

He seems like kind of a dick if he spends all his time playing a game when he could be with you. Dump his ass! No, seriously, don’t. How long is too long though? 3 weeks solid? A few days? For the former, it’s clearly been going on too long. The latter, he may just be obsessed with finishing it. Go with what’s… appropriate. Be harsh but fair.

@Sammy: Ahhhhhh- I’m not sure which party is worse in that video: the slacker douche boyfriend or the crazy ass girlfriend.

On a general note: Why is it that some guys get so wrapped up in games to ignore their girlfriends to begin with? I’ve been single for almost a year and would kill to be in a new relationship as opposed to playing games all day. I mean, sure, there’s nothing wrong with playing on your downtime but, when it gets to the point where you begin to stop caring for your relationship, there’s a problem.

why not tell him black ops won’t stop working after not booting it up for a night or two and that you want to do somthing with him? i’m a gamer myself and this is what i think when my friends call to hang out.

There’s some stupid male hormone-driven guys at my school who don’t understand why I don’t want to go run out and get Black Ops as soon as humanly possible. Actually, they’re more like, “why haven’t you already?”

What is up with these people? I can’t stand them.

KLAUS HOW COULD YOU NOT HAVE TEH OPS YET! IT IS BETTER THAN EVERY GAME EVER CREATED! AND AND AND… Yeah, screw it, I can’t keep going. It gives me a headache even thinking about what I just typed.

I’ll go with Jerk’s first suggestion, if he doesn’t take you out when you ask, cut his balls off. He won’t need them, and maybe it will knock some sense into him. If you mean anything to him, he should stop playing the game or be dumped.

I don’t know why this is an issue. People ignore eachother all the time, especially couples. Find something you can ignore him with. Don’t force yourself to do dumb guy things. Do a chick thing, whatever that is for you.

Why don’t you try playing the game with him?
If it’s one thing we like just as much as playing videogames, it’s getting the opportunity to teach/show off our skills to others.

I’m with Sammy, except for making him choose. Do something else. There are a million other things to do. There’s nothing wrong with settling for a boring relationship like most people (or at least me : D). And if you can’t settle just find someone else who already loves doing the same things you do. There is no reason to force yourself or him. That is quite the opposite of the way love works.

Scotch November 15, 2010, 11:27 PM EST.

Well, I talked to him about it. He said he’ll try to make more time for me. He got the computer version, that nerd, and my computer can’t handle anything near Black Ops (thrift stores, lol)

I guess I’ll try to keep myself busy when he is gone, though. I used to draw when I was younger, maybe I’ll take a crack at that.

Oh, and I made him a sandwich just for you, Rick.

i heard someone say he’ll get bored of it, not possible. I played it, and now no other game is fun. you gotta just make him play less though. but be careful, the withdraw symptoms can be dangerous, even life threatening. I quite and suffered from constantly talking in a manly deep voice and pretending to assassinate my friends. My suggestion is to ween him like a baby from milk. cut the power, threaten with aloud twilight readings, and constant making of sandwiches, if this doesn’t suffice, its too late. Tell him to look up my gamertag though, Farked manfriends

Just to let you know ever since MW2 came out abortion ratings have been cut in half for a while because of guys playing the game to much. Isn’t that a good thing :). I also got the game and its just to fun to leave.
On the topic: Good luck with that :)
