I thought that if both races are originaly from Thailand, they could have thai surnames (depending on the time both families have been living in the country the story develops in, and if they’ve been asimilated in the culture)
According to my sources, Daw means “stars” in thai (do no’t mistake for the english Daw). Klahan means “brave”.

Lucy Xiong (ominious, fierce, terrible, mighty, not thai but somewhat fitting)
Michael Sunan (good word, I remember seeing somewhere that his last name started with S)
