Thanksgiving 2010 Thread

Thanksgiving! The holiday to be thankful for! A time to get together and eat some turkeys!

This is a simple thread to try and have some fun. Such as, what are any of you doing for Thanksgiving? Family time? Screw the family time? Being with friends? Being alone?

And here’s a question I have…Why the hell are there no Thanksgiving songs? I mean, we have Halloween, Valentine’s Day, and Christmas songs, but nothing for Thanksgiving!

Happy Indigenous Genocides Day, friends! The casinos are, like, fifteen minutes away. I’m kind of tempted to see what goes on there.

From a safe distance, of course.

I’m thankful for us not having a holiday with such a horrible history behind it here in NZ!
Oh wait! We’ve got ANZAC day and Guy Fawkes day… nevermind…

@ Migrant-Your from NZ too?

I’m pretty sure some of my friends only know of Guy Fawkes as a holiday to go watch fireworks and then get drunk.

Yeah, Bat, that’s what guy fawkes is all about. But originally it was about remembering some douche who tried to blow up the british parliament or something because he thought the politicians were wrong. Look it up on wikipedia, if you want.

ANZAC day is in remembrance of a WWII massacre in which the New Zealand troops (mostly Maori) were used as cannon fodder in Gallipoli to support an alied attack.

And wanted to establish a particularly virulent form of Catholic theocracy. “Remember, remember the fifth of November,” indeed.

Yeah I knew what they were about, actually used to regularly take part in the ANZAC Day Parade things in my area. Some of my friends on the other hand…rocks for brains…
(also I think you miss typed. Gallipoli was WW1)

England doesn’t have Thanksgiving.

So I just eat turkey sandwiches on that day and act ungrateful.

The food is pretty good, usually. Assuming you or someone you can coerce can cook.

Sushi, times are indeed hard at this time of year. We can only be grateful for the cucumber sandwiches and tea that seems to inexplicably appear absolutely everywhere.
