I love both cats and dogs, so long as they’re on paper. In real life I tend to get bitten and/or scratched. One particular demon-cat decided to lightly bite my arm. On it’s own it was fine, but my immediate reaction was to flinch back, dragging it’s teeth into and through my arm. The cat tricked me into scratching myself. That takes planning on a scale not known in cats since the birth of anthro comics. Other than that, I respect their independence. Translation: I’m scared of them, and they seem to feel disgust/pity and leave me alone when I curl into the foetal postition rock back and forth. Unless I’m in their space. Then I’m fair game.

As for dogs, you can’t go wrong with a puppy, so long as it isn’t one of those ridiculous dogs you can keep in a handbag.
Tl;dr I like both

Chihuahuas are the best living creatures on this earth, followed closely by the ‘bacon tree’, and in third place is white people.

I love both cats and dogs, though I am more on the dog side, simply because when I grew up we had a dog. And that dog was very important to me, so I just prefer a dog if it is reasonable.
