I don’t know about your image file formats, but make sure that the comics that are in color are properly done in full CMYK, not RGB. And this means you may have to convert them manually, because if you just print RGB images in CMYK colors, a small amount of black ink will be mixed in automatically (unless you do it manually), giving a slightly muddy grayish tinge to the colors.
