Comment ID #17276

Hi friends,
I understand that there is a difference between candy yams and sweet potatoes but I just wanted to know how do I make them I also like them sweet. This will be my first time and I’m not sure what to do.

Candy yams tend to be smaller and sweeter. Sweet potatoes are a kind of yam, but are bigger and tend to not be as sweet.

I love eating yams and sweet potatoes, so even though I *intend* to use them in a recipe, I end up eating them on their own… LOL

I just realized that my family were the only ones that called small yams candy yams…

And I think you’re thinking of candied yams, which are, by the way delicious. Here’s the recipe for candied yams

I’ve only ever made it once.

@Lisa: I genuinely thought that the smaller yams were called candy yams for ten years of my life.
