Stereotypic fiction moments IRL

Comment ID #20680

I’m sure every one of us has had one of those times where something’s happened as though it were part of a film or show that’s so predictable one could write it in their sleep. You know, saying “How could it get any worse?” not two seconds before a deafening thunder triggers a downpour dead on top of your head. Well, to complement the other ‘story’ threads here, i figured i’d start up one about this.

For me, the thing that pops into my head is something that happened a few months ago. You know the scene in Melancholy of Haruhi where Kyon has a dream about his relationship with Haruhi? I basically did that, (replacing the person of interest with my own girlfriend, of course) right up to the rant at himself about how stereotypical that was when he woke up.

GO NUTS PEOPLE.

Refer back to the drama thread about how I found out most of my senior class hated me and how I ruined a possible relationship with a girl.

Never had one of those moments…

But come to think of it, there was one time I was listening to someone in my class playing the saxophone, just her and a pianist. A few bars into the second movement of the piece, it starts raining. Not heavy rain, nor slight rain, just… average rain, not too noisy, not too silent. And ever since I heard the first note of that very movement, I thought “this could do with some rain”. So when the drops started falling, it was really beautiful. It’s not really a stereotypic fiction moment, but I thought the rain fitted in so well with the music.

You know those moments when you’re doing something while listening to music and everything just syncs up?

Usually I’m all smug for ten minutes after something like that and people start asking me what’s so funny.

Every day of my life seems to be the opposite of a stereotypical fiction piece. I mean no matter what the situation is, if you imagine what would happen in a stereotypical Ninja flick, the OPPOSITE happens. Hell, my sensei even talks like a normal person instead of spitting out over-used aphorisms in Yoda-speak! This is not what I imagined being a Ninja to be, not that it’s bad… just… unexpected.

So instead of doing multiple backflips while jumping from car to car on a busy highway you just do single backflips?

Lame

No, mostly I just avoid jumping from car to car by stealing one of those helicopters they always have on top of skyscrapers; they are surprisingly poorly guarded and much faster than said car-jumping.

I’m the stereotypical college student who leaves all his studying to the last minute, I have a test Friday that I haven’t started reviewing material yet.

I once had a de ja vue so extreme that I predicted everything that happened in the next half hour. Unfortunately, it was the day after the lotto drawing. Fortunately, I wrote it down when I realized it was de ja vue so all my friends believed me.
