How will I be portrayed in zis… novel? ^_^
Comment ID #29524
The characters will act almost the same way they did in the game, just now Daisy, Tess, and ect. will actually have speaking rolls. I think I will also make this longer than the game by spreading out the murders over several days. Yeah, 5 people dying a day is a little much….
Comment ID #29527
Needed to move it along or we’d never leave that manner with our minds intact. very interested in seeing how this plays out from a literature stand point
Comment ID #29535
Will the novel feature people dying by stuffing? I hope we can omit some of the more gruesome details. ^_^
Comment ID #29539
But that’s one of the best parts! And if not that way then how? Could we continue this conversation in the finale forum? Don’t want to ruin the surprise for first time readers. ^_^

And here is the first chapter for your viewing pleasure. This is a opening that I made completely up to help introduce the character and set the scene. Hopefully you’ll like, tell me what you think!
Chapter 1
Rugsworthy Q, Triplesexy smiled smugly to himself as he watched to guests start to arrive. He stood in a high window on the second floor of the mansion, surveying the scene of his guests exiting their vehicles and making their way to the front door.
“Sue dear?” He called to the maid who was dusting a vase behind him. Her ears perked up at her name as she turned towards him and stood respectively. “Could you come here for a moment?” She dutifully followed his orders and stood beside him at the window.
“Yes sir?” She asked with a fake smile. She hated this job, she was smarter than this! She deserved something better than simple house maid! But in this economy you took what you could get, and this was a much better paying job than her previous one of cleaning the theater, even if that one had been with her best friend Amaya. But most of all she hated the French maid outfit he made her wear. “What can I help you with?”
He continued to grin out the window as he spoke. “I want you to help the guests with their luggage and coats. Take them to their rooms, and help out with what ever else you can. Oh, and don’t worry about knowing their names or anything like that, I didn’t hire you for your brain.” He laughed wickedly as Sue stopped herself from punching him in the face. He turned back and noticed she was still standing there. “Oh, what are you still doing here? Go find Lilly and get to your post by the door. The first guests are already arriving.” With that he turned away from her and back to the window to watch. Sue left quickly and huffed down the stairs.
“How dare he talk to me like that! I deserve better than this!” Sue let out an irritated growl, “Coming to England was the worse idea I’ve ever had!”
“I would calm down dear if I were you.” A calm voice said to the distraught Sue, “You’re much to young to have this much drama in your life.” Sue looked down and saw the hedgehog, Lilly, smiling up at her.
Sue sighed, “You’re right Lilly, but the Master still gets under my skin! How have you survived this long as his servant?” She asked the bowtie wearing hedgehog who laughed under her breath at Sue.
“He’s…different, I‘ll admit that, but he’s not a bad guy. He just really likes stirring the pot if you know what I mean.” Sue tilted her head to the side in confusion. Lilly laughed again and motioned to the guest list. It was covered in names that Sue didn’t recognize, but she read them off anyways.
“Dr. Michael Nicopolis, Mr. Paulo Martinez: Son of the Spanish Ambassador, Lady Luciferd Vandergraft, Baron David Van Pelt, Miss Daisy McTavish: ‘Entertainment‘, Mrs. Tessa Falin, Mr. Tackleford McCain, Count Blurfield Stalinof of Russia , Countess Yashi St Jerome of Perth, Mr. Augusta Clark, Miss Kizuna Toyoda, Miss Rachel Lestat: assistant to the French ambassador, and Lady Sandra of the Waves: French Ambassador? I don’t recognize any of these people. What’s the big deal anyways?”
“I keep forgetting you’re not from here, you see, the master has invited quiet a few people who don’t exactly get along all that well. Take Dr. Nicopolis for example, Dr. Nicopolis, or Dr. Mike as he likes to go by, has quite a history with Lady Luciferd. She was once part of his medical program but was kicked off for a ‘disability’.”
“What was her disability?” Sue asked intrigued.
“Being a woman. She hasn‘t like nobles or Dr. Mike since.” Lilly continued, “And Mr. Martinez had some kind of relationship with Baron Van Pelt, but I heard that went south not to long ago. I know that Miss Daisy has had several, um relationships with Mr. Martinez, Van Pelt, and the good Doctor. She is also under the employment of Mrs. Falin. I don’t know that much about Mr. Clark, expect that he’s a journalist from America. The Russian Count is inseparable from Countess St. Jerome. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg, it seems like almost everyone knows each other and has some kind of history with the people on that list.” Lilly suddenly stood erect and smiled at Sue. “But the first guest are here and need you to take him to his room, why don’t you get to that?”
Sue turned around to see the small pink bird, Chirpy, attempting to take the first guest’s coat. “Oh, Chirpy stop!” She yelled, “I’ll get it!” She rushed over and took the large coat away from the bird and looked at the first guest. The cat smiled deviously at Sue as she took his hat from him. “Hello sir,” She said cheerfully, “May I take your bags to your room?” She notice the expensive and overly dramatic military garb that he dawned.
“Why of course miss.” He took her hand and kissed, “I’m Martinez by the way, Paulo Martinez to be exact, and who do I have the honor of addressing?”
Sue blushed and answered, “Just a simple maid, nothing more sir. And if you would please return my hand to me-” Sue slipped her hand out of Paulo’s grip, “I can take your bags upstairs.” Sue quickly grabbed the few bags he had and made a dash for the stairs, leaving Martinez to laugh under his breath.
Lilly spoke as she hopped by, “He’s a ladies man to say the least.”
“Yeah,” Sue said crossly, “I could tell that. Mind warning me next time?” Lilly smiled and nodded as Sue continued up the stairs.
“Just wait till the rest of the guest get here, then it will really get interesting.” Lilly call to Sue, “They are all, eccentric, if you will.”
“Wonderful,” Sue huffed, “well at least I know this weekend will be different to say the least.” She had no clue how right she was about that.

Ok. You’ve got me.
I have to admit, I’ve found it hard to get into ANY of the fanfics posted on the forum so far. Sorry. McCain style bluntness doesn’t wear off too easily.
But this… I like it. I like it a LOT. It’s got style, excellent dialogue, good pacing with subtle introduction of information (minus the unavoidable guest list)… So, yes, this is the first fanfic I actually find myself enjoying. Er, well done. ![]()

I’m trying to post the new chapter but it doesn’t like me very much…
Augustus Clark stood outside of the front door and hesitated for a minute before entering. He tipped his newsboy hat back and looked at the immense three story house. He whistled loudly as a chilly wind blew through the estate and forced him to pull his duster jacket closer around his torso. Eh, might as well not waste time, and there’s no use of putting it off any longer. He glanced around outside one more time before walking in to the mansion.
He looked around as he entered and notice that the party was no where near started. He noted that the Ambassador’s son was already hitting the wine and that there was really no one else there. He sighed and took to looking at the many different pieces of art work around the room, but he kept his ears and eyes open for anything interesting.
He was studying a marble sculpture as Sue ran down the stairs again just in time to see a young dog in a sundress rush into the house. “Brrr!” She said loudly, “You were right Mademoiselle! I should have wore le hacket today just like you suggezted Lady Sandra!” She spoke with a heavy French accent and smiled sweetly, rubbing her arms for warmth as a cat entered behind her.
“Wi, I waz right again, Rachel.” The Lady Sandra said with an equally thick accent as she took off her coat and revealed a lovely light blue evening gown. Sue hurried over and took the coat from her.
“Uh, hello there ladies. What can I assist you with this evening?” Sue asked with a small smile. Lady Sandra put a finger to her lips and thought about it.
“I’m feeling tired after le long boat ride we took to get ‘ere. Could vu zhow us to our roomz?” Sue nodded and replied.
“Of course Ma’am, do you want me to take your bags up there too?” Rachel clapped happily.
“That would be excelleeent! ‘hank vu zo much mademoiselle!” Rachel ran out the door a moment and brought in ten very large bags. Sue gasped as Rachel and Lady Sandra began chattering quietly in French.
“…Y-yes well, then let’s head upstairs then ladies…” Sue grabbed as many bags as she could and started to head up the stairs slowly and disheartened with the French women close in tow. Augustus watched this scene with a smug smile as the front door was opened and a white dog stepped in without fuss.
“Hmm, it is starting to get cold out there.” Was all he said as the Master of the house walked down the stairs. “Rugsworthy you have misspelled my name on the guest list again. As with the last five letter and two invitations.” Rugsworthy brushed him off.
“Shut it McCain, you are just the pianist anyways. Speaking of which shouldn’t you be play that right now? Now get to it while I retire to my study-” The door was suddenly kicked open and a angry white cat stalked in.
“Well I’m here though to be honest I’m not sure why.” The white cat announced while she fixed her bow and dress. “Why did you suddenly decide to have a party on the windiest night of the whole bloody year I will never know Rugsworthy.” She glared momentarily at Rugsworthy before she noticed McCain and smiled slightly. “Well hello there McCain. I have to say that I’m surprised to see you here this evening, I thought you had managed to make quite a few nobles mad and had decided to stay away from the parties till the whole thing blew over.” McCain sighed and glanced at Rugsworthy before speaking.
“Yes I did Lady Luciferd, but the Master of the Manor insisted that I come and play piano for him. He said I was the best around and he hates to not have me for his little shindigs.” He turned to Rugsworthy, “Speaking of which, your payment for the last two months has still not arrived. It’s up to three now.” Rugsworthy brushed him away again with a flick of his hand.

Here we go! Sorry if there are mistakes and Augustus’s thoughts aren’t italized, but I just don’t care any more.
Ch. 2 (Part dos!)
“Your payment will not come until you have completed the Duke’s Ballad and not a moment before! You have angered the Russians enough as it is!” He motioned to a small blue bird who had just entered the manor with an odd green lizard who was apparently his escort. McCain looked at them for a moment before turning to the piano and began to play a small tune. Rugsworthy smiled to himself as a tan cat walked up behind him and coughed. He turned and smiled at her.
“Ah! Mrs. Falin! When did you get here?” Rugsworthy asked pleased.
“Just a bit ago,” She answered with a small smile. “I have been setting up one of the guest rooms for ‘entertainment’. Miss McTavish is quiet ready to begin.” Rugworthy’s smile widened.
“Wonderful! Why don’t you and the young dear head on down to the other guests and see if any are interested.” Rugsworthy suggested. Mrs. Falin nodded and turned to retrieve her young charge. Augustus watched with quiet interest.
“Entertainment” I believe that most of the men attending this party are more than familiar with Miss Daisy McTavish’s kind of entertainment. He continued to watch the scene as the door was once again kicked open and a gray blur rushed inside. Augustus felt the temperature of the room drop, but not from the open door. He glanced over to Lady Luciferd who was glaring at the most recently arrived guest. He was glad he was not on the receiving end of that look.
“My word! The certainly has kicked up this evening!” The oblivious cat exclaimed as he dusted the leaves clinging to his bowler hat and gray suit. Augustus watched with quite interest as the man looked around the room for something.
Dr. Mike Nicopolis, haven’t seen him in England lately. Augustus thought to himself. Last I heard he was in India, wonder when he got back? I can’t wait to see the stir this cause after he realizes that she’s invited to this little party. The Dr. Mike suddenly spotted what he want and ran towards another cat that had just entered the room from the kitchen entrance.
“Ah-ha, Abraham Ford Clinton! Dear Abraham! How are you this evening?” The new cat’s ears perked up and he attempted to smile at the doctor.
“I am fine Monsieur, vat can I ‘elp you with zis fine evening?” This cat too spoke with a French accent but appeared to be no where near the same social standing as the lady. He wore simple burlap pants and white apron over his bare chest.
“Fine?! This evening is not fine at all!” The doctor replied, “It appears that a nasty wind has kicked up and I demand to know why the Manors gates are already locked! Surely all the guest have not arrived yet?”
Abraham smiled wanly again and stepped away for Dr. Mike, “I wood not know Monsieur, I have been in le kitchen all day, I am zust le Chef after all. But I’m fairly sure that all of the guest are at least on the premises at zis moment, even if they have yet to eneeter la manor, but if you reelly vant to speak with the Master I could call him vor you, non?”
“There is no need for that Abraham, I’m right here.” Rugsworthy said loud enough for the whole room to hear. He was standing regally at the top of the stairs with his hands behind his back. “What do you need Dr. Nicopolis?” Lady Luciferd huffed at the use of the doctors name and crossed her arms sourly.
“My good man, why is the gate to this manor locked? I seem to have forgot a few of my belongings and I wish to retrieve them.” Dr. Mike asked as he took his Bowler cap off and dusted it again.
“Because no one shall be leaving till this party is over.” Rugsworthy answered. “What fun is a game if you can leave it at any time?”
“What game?” Lady Luciferd asked suspiciously, but was answered by another of the Master’s writes flicks.
“Don’t worry about that for now.” He said defiantly, “You will see soon enough. Now excuse me while I retire to my study for the night. You are free explore the property as long as you stay on the estate. Good night all, and I will see you in the morning.” And with that he walked swiftly up the stairs and disappeared behind a corner. Lady Luciferd looked furious for a moment before she turned around and noticed that the doctor was still there. Then her look became venomous and she stalked away and into the ballroom where the rest of the guest were gathering.
If Dr. Mike had noticed the look then he choose to ignore it. He walked happily into the room too. Augustus looked up and shared a moment’s look with the apparent chef who just shrugged and returned to the kitchen. Augustus stood in the entrance hall a moment longer before turning and walking into the ballroom.
This night just keeps getting more and more interesting by the moment.

Chapter 3 (part 1)
Sue took a deep breath and sank down into a chair in the ballroom, finally all the guest’s bags were in there rooms and she had a moment to rest. Well, until she had to run up and prepare the rest of the rooms. She sighed and let her head hang down as she thought for the umpteenth time that night about how she should have taken that theater job.
“Well you look exhausted.” A voice suddenly stated. Sue flipped her head up and looked at McCain who continued to speak. “I’ll take it that you’re fairly new around here? I haven’t noticed you if you aren’t.”
“I’ve only been working here for about two months but I’ve learned the layout of the house pretty now.” ‘And the insanity of the Master’. She thought bitterly. “So if you need anything-”
“I didn’t ask if you knew the lay out of the house, I only stated that you look tired and I haven’t noticed you before.” McCain said bluntly.
“Oh,” Sue said as she blinked, “I was just trying to make small talk.”
“I don’t ‘small talk’.” McCain snapped, but a very small smile crossed his face briefly, “But I’ll take it that ole’ Rugsworthy has been running you around this insane asylum, correct?” Sue nodded and sighed again.
“You don’t know the half of it. Not only do I have to deal with him and his eccentric antics, but also the guest that has yet to leave from the party last month.” Sue rubbed her head sighed. McCain raised his eyes brows and Sue answered the unasked question. “Kizuna Toyoda, the Japanese diplomat. She mostly just says in her room but do you know how hard it is to clean the room of a guest that won’t leave?! I don’t even think the Master realizes she’s still here!” McCain’s small smile reappeared on his face again but disappeared quickly.
“Well that was an entertaining ‘chat‘.” He suddenly said as he stood up, “Now excuse me as I go to entertain the guests. Rugsworthy has me playing the whole night, perhaps we’ll have more time to ‘chat’ later though.”
“Yeah, if these lunatics ever go to bed.” Sue said with an eye roll. McCain turned around and looked at her.
“Well of course they will, they might be idiots but they still need sleep.” And then he turned around as Sue stared at him slightly shocked. Abraham walked by with plates of appetizers.
“Le Master zill not be pleased to see you zitting around uselessly Mademoiselle Sue.” He warned as he bustled by. Sue sighed and stood up as she dusted off her apron.
“Yeah, yeah I know.” She huffed as she made her way up the stairs, wishing she had taken the theater job. On the other side of the room, Augustus watched with silent laughter as Lady Lucifer attempted to ignore Dr. Mike.
“The gates being locked is completely unacceptable!” The doctor said loudly, “I still wish to retrieve some of my personal items.” He angrily huffed and crossed his arms. Abraham had made his way to the doctor and the small crowd he had assembled around him. They snickered at his ranting as Abraham attempted to pass out the salmon canapés. Dr. Nicopolis finally noticed that a small crowd had gathered around and he turned to address them. “Hello there Ladies and Gents, I’m not sure if we all have met but if that is so then please refer to me as Dr. Mike, and by may I mean you will unless you would prefer a duel.” He waved his fist in the air for emphasis and Lady Luciferd rolled her eyes and growled angrily.
“Hardly think you deserve the title of ‘Doctor’ Nicopolis.” She snapped with vengeance. Mike acted like he noticed her for the first time.
“Ah Luciferd! How are you my dear, I would kiss your hand but we both know where that’s been. It wouldn’t be sanitary.” He said sweetly and then turned to grab several of the canapés off the tray as Luciferd fumed.
“Doctor some people might want canapés too, you know.” McCain said as he walked towards the piano. Dr. Mike flipped his head up and suddenly pulled his glove off and slapped it across McCain’s face in one swift move.
“I challenge you to a duel!” He cried through a mouth full of appetizers. McCain sighed and shook his head.
“Honestly Doctor, really?” He then continued to walk to the piano and began playing a tune. The crowd dispersed as Augustus, Luciferd, and Mike were left alone with Abraham angrily shuffling away.
“ Those flimsy, filthy degenerates! Oh I can’t believe zoes ’nobles’. Zey think zey rule le world and don’t give a damn about the ones under their dirty heels. Zey just chatter away without so much as a Merci! Zey didn’t even bother to zank me vo the appetizers!”
Augustus watched silently as Abraham stormed off and then turned his attention back to the far more entertaining antics of The good doctor and the Lady Luciferd as she steamed at Dr. Mike.
“And what is that suppose to mean Nicopolis?” She snapped “I shiver to think of where your lips have been. Most likely what ever two bit floozy you could get your hands on.” Augustus excepted her to glance in the direction of Miss McTavish or Mrs. Falin, but she surprised him by glancing towards the newly reentered Lady Sandra and her assistant. He interested peaked as Dr Mike issued a short laugh.
“Aww, well at least I have the opportunity. As for yourself I believe that your spiteful attitude has kept the men galloping away, yes?” He raised his eyebrow and Lady Luciferd blushed slightly but intensified her glare.
‘He seems violent.’ August thought as Abraham announced over the intercom.

Ch. 3 (part 2)
“Attention, si vous plait! Main course will be ready in 20 minootes!” the intercom clicked and the party seemed to be moving towards the dinning room which held a large oak table already set for the occasion. Augustus turned back to a very angry Lady Luciferd was about to pounce on the oblivious Dr Mike.
“Great.” Augustus muttered under his breath before finally speaking out, “Now wait a minute. Come on now, settle down.” What ever he was hoping to accomplish by doing this was completely void except for the fact that Lady Luciferd now noticed him and turned her attention and fury on him.
“And you are who?” She snapped, then she noticed his odd garb, such as his paperboy hat and tilted her head to that side, “And why in the world would you come to a party dressed like that?!”
Augustus sighed, ‘Well this can’t get any worse so I might as well tell the truth. I am a reporter after all.’ “ My name is Augustus Clark and the why I’m dressed like this is none of your concern. By the way, you two need to stop acting like spoiled children, we don’t need any violence here on the first day and I didn’t come here to watch to drama queens duke it out.” She was silent for a moment but then her anger grew to rage.
“Excuse me?! What in the world gives you the right to talk to me like that?!” She yelled at him.
‘Crap, maybe I shouldn’t have angered her…’ Augustus tried to back away as she stormed towards him, when suddenly an arm wrapped its self around Luciferd’s neck and pulled her close.
“Why hello there Luci!” Paulo said bubblely as he swished his wine around in his glass. “How are you this fine night? If you are upset, perhaps I can make you feel better?” He smiled slyly as she blushed at first and simply pushed him away hastily with embarrassment more that anger in her face.
“Back off Martinez!” She snapped as Abraham came on the intercom again.
“Dinner is served Ladies and Gentlemen! The mealz are ready and waiting for vo all in the dinning room. Please make haste!” Luciferd looked up and then turned and glared a Augustus.
“I would watch my back if I were you Clark.” She said venomously as she stormed towards the dinning room. Augustus smirked and did a short laugh.
“Watch my back for what? More drama?” He turned to Paulo who only smiled slyly and turned towards the dinning room to and followed Lady Luciferd. Augustus took a moment before following the crowd in there too.
Abraham noticed the anger lady, though she was a noble, she was different than the rest. Abraham had learned through his many encounters with her that she disliked noble blood almost as much as he did. Thus he had the courage to speak out to her. “My, my such drama already tonight.”
She turned her head up from her angry mutterings and took notice of Abraham. “Hmm? Oh sorry Abraham, the nobles are just annoying me that’s all.” She gave a quick glance back to Paulo and Dr. Mike and issued as short huff before turning back to Abraham. “But there is no need for me to be cross with you, may I ask what we are having for dinner tonight?”
Abraham smiled slightly in triumph that he was able to pull her out of her hole of hate and said loud enough for all to hear. “Tonight, we have delicious salmon with caviar side!” He smacked his lips together and guided Luciferd towards her assigned seat. “It is Magnifique!”
Dr Mike spotted Lady Luciferd storming into the room and he took this time to make his way slowly and quietly towards the door. “I value my life more than a meal. I do believe the hornet’s nest has been stirred enough for one night.” He looked over his shoulder as he kept an eye on the Lady, and ran straight into Augustus. “Oof!”
“Ack!” Augustus yelled as both of them fell heavily on their butts. “Oh sorry about that.”
“Well pardon me sir, here let me help you up.” Dr. Mike said as he gave Augustus a hand.
“Thanks.” Augustus said as he dusted him self off. “I’m Augustus Clark by the way.”
“Dr. Mike Nicopolis, but please call me Dr. Mike. And just because I’m a Doctor doesn’t mean I’m an ass. Despite what the previous company thinks.” He looked directly at Luciferd who glared back as she took the seat Abraham lead her to.
“I still don’t know why you keep referring to yourself with that unearned title.” She said acidly. Augustus looked between the two, still slightly confused as to way they hated each other so much as Abraham checked the seating arrangement to hopefully stop the mess that was about to happen.
Suddenly he gasped and whispered, “Oh no…” Augustus looks over his shoulder and see the same thing he does and gulps.
“Well as lovely as this little chat is Luciferd, I believe I will take my seat now. If you would Abraham.” Dr. Mike asked the chef. The chef stepped forward slowly and took Dr. Mike to his seat….which happened to be the one beside Lady Luciferd. “Oh.” He said as he took his seat. “Well then I guess we can finish this lovely little chat then, hmm Luciferd?” She glared at him and splashed her glass of water in his face before turning around the other way angrily. Abraham and Augustus exchanged a worried glance before sighing.
‘Never a dull day around here’. Abraham sighed as he moved to help the other guests. I can only hope that it doesn’t get any more exciting than this.

Okay, now some of you may have notice that for a couple of days we had an RPG going called Murder Mystery Game.
Well it came to the fact that we needed to make the whole thing more believable and coherent. This is what that is intended to be, so if you want to read a crazy and more than slightly insane story, go to the forum, but for the sake of drama I present: The Murders of Rugworthy Manor.
