I still don’t know that much about Liam or Fiona to add them to the game. Wait till we see them in the actually comic and then talk.

And I know discovered the name of my first born girl. It shall be Elizabeth Mann, so her nickname can be Sissy. It will go great with her older brother of Kick-ass Danger.

My friend wants to name his Kid Jesus, while this is not unheard of in spanish countries (pronounced Hay-zus in spanish of course) He is not spanish, he simply thinks it amusing. (of course he would pronounce it the english way)

It’s not a problem.
The problem is using them in the Murder Mysteries with the owner’s permission.
I don’t want Suri or Lacy to be killed and I suspect the others don’t want their OCs dead or causing death either.
(Although Jack as a bloodthirsty maniac is something I’d like. ;P)

If you really need a variety, get well known OCs and set specific ones in specific mysteries.
(like guest apperences, Liam for example guest stars in a romantic hotel murder, Jack guest stars in a camping trip)

I am adding catherine, who has yet to make an appearance in the MMGs, but is canon. Maybe Liam, but I’m not too familiar with most of the OCs. I think checking with their creators before we kill them in horrible fashions may be a good idea too.

Yeah…. I’ve got to disagree with the idea of using OCs for this.

As I previously stated one of the advantages of using Cannon characters is everyone knows who they are. We don’t need three days worth of character development to understand who we’re interacting with saving time. This makes the story easy to jump into.

The draw back being that it does limit creativity some. You can’t make your own unique character to play through the story something I much enjoy doing (hell these mystery games are the first time I played anything but my own creations). But given the quick nature of murder mystery games it just isn’t a good choice…much as unique characters would make it much harder for the host to write a murder story around; seeing as most of us would understand the cannon heroes more.

With OC-Fan characters though? We get the worse of both worlds. None of the ease of use benefits of cannon heroes as only a fraction of the forum really knows who they are. But.. at the same time none of the creativity benefits either: you’re still limited to a character made by someone else!


I can understand the argument for some of the very well known ones (Liam Perhaps?) but.. most of them.. no. Even as background characters it’d seem pointless. We tend to have a pile of left over NPCs for that as is.

I’m just leaving it as an open option.
I’d rather avoid using them at all but there are times where a well known character could fit a role perfectly.
And Currently Liam is getting closer to that role, but he won’t be there so long as he doesn’t play a role in the current story.

@ Bribri: But it would be a fresh character made by someone else! and you do not necesarily need to know the oc to know the rp profile, which would be posted right there! I know jack shit about any oc’s other than maybe Liam, but I don’t really have to. as longas the rp profile designates I do something, I do it. Plus, sometimes canon characters are modified beyond recognition! (e.g. August)

(Plus, don’t worry, I’m infamous for overanalyzing as well, I don’t mind, in fact I enjoy having a worthy rival/opponent!)

A fresh character… like say using one of the many characters that have been barely touched upon in our two rps? Or playing someone different each time? Variety is fine dude, but we’ve already got a variety of 10-20 characters to play with here many of which who haven’t been played at all yet!

We’re hardly short on heroes here. Don’t fix it if it ain’t broke dude.

I will admit though my big rant up there might have gave the impression I’m making a bigger deal of this then it is. I’m just in one of those over-analyzing moods. It could work, hell it likely would work! But.. I think it would work a little better without heh ;p

Not saying it needs to be implemented anytime soon, i was just thinking of… interacting with others’ OC’s more, something I seem to be missing out on in general.

I will say… if we end up doing this again and again for a while some fresh characters likely will be required. But at that point? Really? We’d be better off creating our own for something more long term….maybe with the host putting out some basic profiles as starting points to make story building easier on them. But.. that’s getting ahead of ourselves.

Will say thought.. in the end… we’re just tossing out ideas here. It’ll always be whomever is Hosting the game that will decide how things are done~

Lol I actually dreamed about the MM I’m currently writing last night, it gave me a few interesting ideas though, I might actually throw in one or two. Turns out my subconscious is considerably more cunning than my conscious mind.
