The walking sketch is very nice. I’d simply love to see that in colour. ^_^

Simple, cute, the outfits choices work, and all is good. Would have to agree that comic was a bit too far on the sketchy side. But yeah, no need of porn, the characters don’t wear anything normally anyway! Better to see how they look dressed up, particularly the B-lister crowd. But hey, yeah, draw what you like first hm?

Hm does bring another thought to mine… seems to be a popular trend of making up fan characters for the setting don’t it? I even find myself considering how some older concepts of mine would work here. Are we all just dreaming of those simple (okay not so simple) days of childhood? Or.. just a way to better relate to the Stars of the comic? *shrugs* Who knows?

Well I donnu- I think as long as you got an fur-char before and it’s a catordog you can fit it in- just like with Fiona I had her for like- ever since I started dA 3 years ago- she just was named different and was a black cat xD
Ved and Toasty started the fancomic thing c:
also I just did a random page xD Sorry that I did it horizontally though, that seems to have given some trouble to read it xD

I’m at school right now- today is nothing to do- I am coloring the Abby walk picture right now.

Is anyone online? I’m kinda bored :/

Lisa April 14, 2010, 8:04 AM EST.

Comment ID #4250

Well I’m online? Though I’m sort of new here, and obviously just as bored given my posting surge around this place hahaha. Don’t worry I’ll vanish without a trace in a month or so ;)

And yes I meant Fan-characters, along with ‘Adapted’ characters. Just a popular trend tis all~

Yeah- I mean, as soon as this Forum opened, everyone saw a reason in adding his characters in, like he could share with other BCB fans or something like this I guess ^^

and don’t worry as soon as you’ve posted some more you don’t want to leave again xD

@Taeshi I’m not talking to you Dog killer D:<

@Lisa
Perhaps, perhaps. I tend to be pretty flakey with forums I’ll admit. I always forget to post for a little while… then illogically feel guilty for not posting, which actually makes me post less because going to the forum reminds me of my ill doings which takes the enjoyment out of it and so forth and so on.

It’s all very silly I assure you.

It’s actually 6.37 AM here. Good old Newfoundland, and our Half-hour time zone confusing the heck out of everyone.

Hm though I assume you have a home computer too ehn? Can’t really blame them if they did ban them though, you’re suppose to be paying attention in class young lady! D:

I love it. Nice colouring job!

Out of interest, why do you draw so big? Do you use Paint, or something else? Your coloured drawings kinda look like they were done in Flash, If you resize them way down. And I think they look better that way?

Oh, and I saved that image before Photobucket took it down. Ha.

SuitCase April 15, 2010, 7:28 AM EST.

@SuitCase:

I thought so- did you show her yet?

oh and- uhm I color them in Paint, if I try to rezise them I think they look to paintly that way… let me show you-

Abbeys walk again- but smaller

ok I just noticed it’s not the same if I resize it before I color it- because if I resize it before I color it the lines get all paintly…if you now what I mean by that >>

Even smaller! How about

Posted image

This is what I mean by something that looks like it was made in Flash. You draw at such a size that there’s not a very dense amount of linework that gets lost in severe reductions like the above, so while you lose the crisp aliased lines, you end up with something like this if you simply reduce it to 550px width with a smooth bicubic resize in Photoshop. I think it looks better.. or is, at least, a better way to present your work. Even if you draw it huge to begin with.

Keep in mind Veronica’s source comic documents are something like 4000x6000 pixels! We reduce them for the site, because that kind of resolution just isn’t useful.. but it’s handy for doing the effects we do.

SuitCase April 15, 2010, 11:49 AM EST.

Maye you’re right~ I’ll try it next time c:
But for dA I guess abit bigger wouldn’t hurt either-

atm I have an idea of a short comic including Liam (if that’s ok)

@Lisa
Yeah that’s okay with me. You can draw a comic with Liam in it if you want ^_^

Be mindful of the different algorithms it can use. I tend to use sharper whenever I’m scared of details being lost, but smoother is fine when you’re trying to eliminate MSPaint jaggies.

I used the Bicubic Smoother for Lisa’s drawing, though I probably should have done a nicer job of removing the white background. The Magic Wand and Refine Edges dialogue is great for that.

SuitCase April 16, 2010, 9:25 AM EST.

Comment ID #4778

…how do I even do the bicubic smoother something? I just reduced it to 550px when I tried it o.o

Your work is absolutely gorgeous mate! (wow, sounded like a gay designer right there) Don’t know why, but I prefer your sketches to your finished pieces. They seem to have a more natural feel to your style. Maybe if you did some softer colouring it’ll look even more amazing… But that’s just my opinion though… :D

Pronkat April 16, 2010, 7:55 PM EST.

Seeing your art I’ve wanted to ask you what do you use to make you pictures?
All I have is paint which I’m not exactly perfect at (I’m more the drawer then animator) but if I could be using something better then I’d love the help.

Hey, the genderbent characters are actually awesome.

I like the way the boys turned out. As girls, that is. And I think Daisy would look great if we got to see more of her… him, sorry.

Wow, switching genders makes posting a lot harder.

…WOW…N ow I am ashamed at my pitiful attempts at drawing. I don’t think I could ever match the skill and sheer awesomeness of your art Lisa. Btw, how long does it take for you to make one of these masterpieces (just the sketch, not adding the color).

Here’s a question…. if their genders are reversed how does it change their pasts? In this reality ‘Lancy’ would be accepted without a second though. Maybe they’d reject him for other reasons? Too rough? Too serious? Leading to him becoming a loner. Noticed by … uh.. Michele? Hang out time etc.

Or would their roles be completely reversed with Michelle being the outcast whom Lancy befriends? Maybe Michelle starts it out of some noble goal to make that serious guy to talk more?

Due to simple gender roles Lancy wouldn’t be smacking Michele so much (domestic abuse!). Maybe more passive ‘brotherly’ pokes, prods, and torments. Scarf tugs, noogies, ear pulls etc, and other harmless actions.

So what is it…? Paula, Davina, Dany, and uh.. ‘Abatha…’? (MY D.. MOM CALLED ME ABBY I HATE THAT NAME)

Oh look, I still haven’t commented about the actual ART yet. Forgive me! I like over analyzing things! It’s a hobby!

Looks good! Sketchy obviously, would love to see a colored version. Getting better at general posing I think, helps the characters look more alive most certainly. Can’t say much about Man-Daisy though, too much hidden.

Bribri April 16, 2010, 9:35 PM EST.

Comment ID #4899

Obviously Abbey will still be named Abbey. I mean, that’s a girl’s name anyway.

I think perhaps Lance or Luke would be better for Lucy. Otherwise… Daisy’ll be Davy/Tracy, and David will be… hmm, Daisy? Or Kaylee?

Heres a challenge for you:
What would you call Augustus? I’ll let you think about THAT for awhile.

Actually thinkng about it what would he LOOK like?

Jacob83 April 16, 2010, 9:59 PM EST.

Comment ID #4902

You could always call him Audrey if he was turned into a girl.

Or just August if you don’t wanna change it that much. I’ve heard both as names before I think.

ToastyJester April 16, 2010, 10:08 PM EST.

Comment ID #4905

I think August is gender-neutral, so it’s certainly considerable. Augusta is also a possibility.

Or, if we’re talking relativity, then June or September could work. Or April. April is a lovely name ^_^

ILB April 16, 2010, 10:29 PM EST.

Comment ID #4984

Isn’t the main sister beekeeper in the Secret Life of Bees called August? If we were to change it, I’d think the proper switch would be Augustine…

Pronkat April 17, 2010, 9:33 AM EST.

Comment ID #4989

But Augustine is an adjective…

ILB April 17, 2010, 10:15 AM EST.

Comment ID #5009

Since Abbey has a female name when he’s male, maybe his female counterpart should have a male name…

Nevermind, I think I’m just starting to over-analyze >_>

@Ninja: just the sketch? well it depends I’d say- liek if I really want to do the picture or if I just sit down and doodle something- like mostly I don’t think of what to draw, but just start with liek an idea, the gerndebending for example. sinc eI keep it pretty simple and don’t really do much details (no clothes

Have you got Photoshop Elements mate? I either use that or Serif Draw Plus 3X (which at 70 pounds is much cheaper than Photoshop). For colour codes, I just get ‘em of the net. I know a site that puts the code and a little square for a preview, but I’m drawing blanks at the name right now… I’ll tell you as soon as it comes back to me.

Aren’t names adjectives when you tink about it? I mean my name has two different meanings in Spanish and German. Also I saw that Augustine is a male name… ^^;
