I really think they should have stayed with the first and maybe even the second.. then it got all “weird and political” when it honestly wasn’t really needed. It was kind of a fun first video full of silliness and slapstick and stuff. Kind of Cerebus Syndrome to the max for me.

I most quite enjoyed all the videos nonetheless though, a most needed watch!

Yeah, given the intersection of audiences, I’m not sure it is possible for anyone here to dislike the original two. The end few are kind of depressing, though it is well worth it.

I say the whole series is worth it. Anyways, 3 and 4 create drama, and we all here like drama right? BCB has tons of it lately, and it’s a great comic.

Discovered this a few months ago. Very nice series of flashes and the song choices aren’t half-bad either. Beats the k-pop that gets played here way too frequently.

I didn’t like the politicalamity of the three last parts, either. But I loved the story otherwise. ^_^

Also, the cat reminds me of Michael.

What? The green scarf? Yeah, reminds me of him

Comment ID #44348

Not only the green scarf… also the expressions, and partly the way they act.

Not really to me though, he does quite get moody like Mike but I don’t really see much, perhaps I need to watch it again

There’s a cat with a blue scarf in the first one if you look carefully enough. I like to pretend that that particular cat is Mike.

I still remember when I was in the designing days for Mike’s second scarf and I went through various colours like yellow.. and yes - green.. I immediately realised how awkward that would be so I stuck with yellow.. then added oranges :-[

GOOD THING I WAS A FAN OF THERE SHE IS FOR A WHILE THEN. otherwise oh dear

then again green with green eyes? I did also consider how boring and kind of ugly that would look, so that also helped it

coolstorybro

Edit: Holy shit Kaxbe I see the blue-scarf character for a split second, you’re pretty observant haha

also yayyy ILB >:O YOU SEE THROUGH THE PRETENTIOUS UNDEEDED DRAMA

Red. Red matches green eyes just lovely. I know this because there was this girl I had a crush on with beautiful red hair and stunning green eyes.

Also, scarves are pimp material.

uhh, red scarf is kind of ffffffffffffffff

what is he, christmas?

Taeshi June 15, 2010, 1:21 PM EST.

Heh.. complementary colors…

I typed in what colors go well with grey (Mike’s coat, even if the TRUE term is blue) and noone comes up with a consensus beyond white, black, and Pink

Ace June 15, 2010, 1:27 PM EST.

@Ace
Pink does go really well with gray. Imagine if Lucy had a blue ribbon whilst Mike had a pink scarf…

*imagines*

I’m seeing Sandy with no hair and Mike as a pimp >_>

@Taeshi: Yes. He is Christmas. He’s got several gifts for da ladies

@SkylineFaux: Mike has always been a pimp.

I loved this series.
It was innocent, but there was also a dark element in steps 3 & 4.
And that is how the truth works, otherwise there wouln’t be a significant reason to let the series go on.
The drama and humor were both reasons I watched it, and of course why I also like BCB. ;P

I hope to see something new from these guys soon.

I want to see their mutant cat-bunny children.

EDIT: I see you found the blue-scarf cat, Taeshi. I like him. As the dude is running, he’s all “‘Sup”, but Nabi doesn’t see him and runs past blue-scarf. What a dick.

I friggen love this series.

I remember watching all five of them and thinking, “Man, I wish there was a Step 6.” Or that the series would pick up somewhere later in their lives. But maybe just five is for the best.

Them stopping at Step One or Two would have been okay, I suppose…but I think the series would have suffered for it. I mean, it would have been like, “Ha ha, another funny little short on Newgrounds. Moving on now.”

But when you think about it, the story was always about a cross-species romance in an unsympathetic society. Sambakza just took it down a logical path and made the series a lot more emotional. It dealt with the issues head on, and I think a lot of people liked it for that.

In any case, I thought that the darker turn made the back-to-upbeat Step 5 a much more satisfying ending than Step 2 would have been.

yeah but decently animated funny little shorts on newgrounds are hard to come by because most newgrounds is complete garbage

I must admit, I have something of a soft spot for step 4. I love the song, and as many of you know, I also love super depressing stuff.

As for the political statements? Eh… They were THERE in the original. Just not as overt. The whole series was originally created as a statement on the state of affairs, and I’m pretty sure I remember hearing something about the Sambakza guy’s getting some government funding or something to do them.

I remember seeing the first step in High School, and loving it, making it one of the few flash cartoons I actually had saved and the like. After step 2 came out, I set in for the long wait for the inevitable sequel. I wanted to know where the story went damn it!

It took forever for the whole series to be done. But I enjoyed it all none the less. A funny cartoon that turned into an interesting tale, complete with a crushing low point, and a soaring finish. I wouldn’t change a thing.

Ah yes, I watched sambakza’s work back when he started releasing them on newgrounds, from number one and then two. And then of course the silly three which I found weird and not a fun as the first two were.

I am really glad yet mad I found out about this series 2 days ago. I fell in love with it so I can’t stop watching it over and over… UGH!! But I loved how a complete story stemmed from it and in-depth characters were made, I don’t think the first 2 would be enough (especially since 3 and 5 are my favorites). And by the end a revolution was started and more people were comfortable with and supported interspecies relationships all because of 2 lovers. While if it was just the first 2 made then the audience would think nothing changed and all the “anti” signs and supporters would go on in control and we aren’t really sure if Nabi and Doki’s love works out (because until the end of step 3 Nabi keeps his love secret and it seems as though they’ll never truly hook up). so yeah, I think all 5, even depressing step 4 (considering 5’s incredible ending), were needed and awesome. Anyways, I need to stop ranting on a dead thread… hehehe..
