Led Zeppelin, Queen, Extreme.
And also a lot of bands no one have heard of. Except if they’re enthusiastic about Norwegian underground and freelance music, of course.
Though, if we’re talking favourites in all kinds of music, then I have to mention Bach, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Backer-Grøndahl and Prokofieff, as well as Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie and Miles Davis in various incarnations.

Metallica
Ozzy Osborne

The London Symphony Orchestra (not a band name, the real thing)
Those are the five that come to mind, in no particular order.
Classical music will reign again!

By the way, Pathetique, did you take your name from Tchaikovsky’s piece? Since, you know, you like classical music.
(I know, it sounds feeble. But it might be true ^_^)
Comment ID #4896

Comment ID #4964
Linkin Park
Relient k
Daughtry
Queen
Game OST’s (Silent Hill, Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, The World Ends With You, Super Mario RPG, etc.)
Brentalfloss
Truth be told, I’m picky about my tastes. I like a lot of songs, but the above five (…and genre) are the only bands I consistently like. For example, I think Say (All I Need) by OneRepublic is one of the best songs I’ve ever heard, but I find all of their other work… underwhelming.
… That, and I want to destroy all copies of Alicia Keys’ work. “No One” is capable of inducing near murderous rages in me. How about that? Also include stuff you hate (I’d add Lifehouse, The Fray, Britney Spears, and all things country ‘cept Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now.” That can stay.)
Comment ID #4999
How could I forget Metallica? I mean, I went to see their bloody concert at Marley Park last Summer for crying out loud! (It was AWESOME!)
Anyhow, I was going to put my favourite Spanish-speaking bands, but I’m drawing blanks except for Los Fabulosos Cadillacs and Gypsy Kings.
As for modern bands, hmm… I like some Foo Fighter songs, the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, some Misfits and I think Florence and the Machine was the grooviest thing to come out in the naughties.
@Blaze
You are two years older than me and you teach in a school? Did you do your A/AS-levels when you were 15 or sowt?

I have a list of bands
AC/DC
The Beatles - every album but the bootlegs, Live at Hollywood Bowl, Yellow Submarine and the Anthologies. Saw Paul McCartney in concert, his back-up band opened with a more hardcore version of Magical Mystery Tour. Whole thing was great.
Black Sabbath - every album with Ozzy except Technical Ecstasy.
The Clash
Cream
David Bowie - most albums between 1969 and 1980.
The Doors
Fleetwood Mac - Peter Green era only. Can’t stand that goat-voiced harlot that turned them into weeping wuss rock.
Jeff Beck - take a look at who played on “Beck’s Bolero.” Right. Freaking. Now.
The Jimi Hendrix Experience - all three studio albums
Johnny Cash
King Crimson - most studio albums
Led Zeppelin - everything that isn’t a bootleg.
Metallica - up to about 1990
Nirvana
Pink Floyd - almost everything
The Police
The Ramones
The Rolling Stones
Rush
The Velvet Underground
The Who - most albums, saw the last living members in concert. I don’t care how old they are, it still kicked a great deal of ass to hear those songs and watch Pete Townsend smash his guitar at the end. Zach Starkey played their drums.
Yes - everyone’s heard “I’ve Seen All Good People” at one point or another.

Ah, Bad Company. Rock Steady ^_^
Strange that someone who likes all of those bands doesn’t like either the Beatles or the Stones, though.
Comment ID #26648
Lynyrd Skynyrd > Led Zeppelin
i dunno, the beatles or the rolling stones just dont seem that “Real” to me,they were just there to make money and not songs i dunno, people can hate me if they want because “DOOD TEH BEATLES ARE TEH BEST DOOD!!!!!!”
Comment ID #26673
what a rebel
ac/dc and the allman brothers were in it for the money just as much as the beatles and the rolling stones were, if not more
also if you think that the beatles were all about making cash, you have very clearly not listened to enough beatles
Comment ID #26677
Filthy iconoclast.
Comment ID #26679
suitcase fuckin trolled me up there hahah
Comment ID #26684
i have listened to the beatles before, sounds mostly like Pop hits to me,same with the rolling stones, completly overrated bands,AC/DC is also overrated almost as much as the beatles and the stones, but they sure did write alot of good songs,im talking about the old AC/DC not the “Back in Black” and beyond AC/DC,and the allman brothers well they wrote alot of jams, like whipping post, never play that on the radio live unless its really late, same for “In memory of elizabeth reed” they didnt half ass the songs once again,im talking about the old Allman brothers when it was still the allman brothers, before dwayne died, and before they broke up and reformed
but eh,thats all just my opinion feel free to think what you want.
Comment ID #26689
I’ll just say I appreciate your proclivity toward southern rock and leave it at that.
That said, Derek and the Dominoes. Dwayne Allman and Eric Clapton. Their one studio album is beyond amazing. “Why Does Love Got to Be So Sad?” DAMN, SON.
Comment ID #26694
idiot if you think the beatles are just pop hits, then you have very clearly never listened to the white album/ any of their post-revolver stuff
if you judge a band by its hits or its fans youre just missing out
there is a reason there is so much hype about them/ if they were just pop hits we would have probably forgotten about them by now
concerning the stones: theres a reissue of exile on main street that just came out. i suggest you pick it up and rethink your claim that they didnt write “real songs”
also i really like ac/dc and i love the allman brothers with my whole heart and i have nothing against them, im just saying that they appreciated cash just as much as anyone else
Comment ID #26716
like i said, its just my opinion but i’ll do that (pick up the reissue that is) and check it out
Head back to the forum index.
