Lucy doesn’t have many friends who are just friends for WANTING to be just friends.

You know who would be really cool, though? McCain.

He points out logic, but doesn’t judge. He’s not trying to manipulate anybody. He’s just there, doing his own thing, independent. He doesn’t MIND going into the background. In fact, I think I kind of respect him the most, for that.

I wonder, has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

I wonder, has anyone else ever pondered a Lucy and Alec story? Thinking about what circumstance could lead to them having to interact in a positive light is quite enjoyable. Of course I wouldn’t want to settle for a set of circumstance that is too contrived…

Maybe if one of his planted interjections scored a critical in a helpful way? … I think I could see that. Lucy has a lot to digest, and sometimes an injection of rationality is what you need the most. I think they’d all do a lot better if they actually listened to Alec a little more. It would be funny if he said something, and she turns around and says “SHU… … oh. Oh wow. I… …crap, He’s right.”

The reason I’m even considering this is because McCain sounds like the kind of guy to acknowledge Lucy’s obvious attractiveness while not letting it get to him. He’s mature enough to appreciate her other qualities, like her love of her pets, her physical prowess in sports and defense, and her strong sense of honor and personal accountability. I think he’d be no-nonsense enough to soak the damage of her paranoid rebukes and accusations that he’s trying to manipulate, which he obviously so wouldn’t be.

I’m not saying there should be any kind of romance. In fact, it would be cute if lucy’s latch mechanism started to trigger, and McCain stabilized her on a friend basis. Bonus points for Jealous Suedrama. Bonus Bonus points if there is IMPLIED drama from sue, but it turns out she’s actually feeling understanding and supportive about the whole thing, making everybody go “WTF O_o”

I guess I just see too much of myself in McCain. I’ve always been a fan of rationality.

Interesting thought, but over-analyzed and a tad too silly. I don’t think it will fly, but I have been surprised before (not often).

@ Taysh: Oh gee, I dunno, maybe it has to do with the fact that she’s freaking a-god-damned-dorable when she’s crushing on someone. But yeah, you have a point.
