Old news, but yeah, Q1 2011 is packed with great games. inFamous 2, MotorStorm: Apocalypse and Dead Space 2 just to name a few.

I’m going to agree with Jerk on this one, the first one was just an okay game so I’m not that excited

Wow. I simply cannot believe the sheer unadulterated levels of ‘meh’ I’m getting from the list SkylineFaux posted…
I mean… inFamous 2? Eh… Another Motorstorm? Did the first one even sell any copies? And another Dead Space? That doesn’t exactly scream quality entertainment to me.

I, personally, am excited for it. It looks great, and I liked the first one, so yeah.

Opinions, my friend.
inFamous was an interesting game. The story was intriguing, the characters were likable (and unlikable) and the karmic system was a nice implementation. The sequel is shaping up to be a good looking game. I’m very glad that they are improving on the navigation which was a tad slow in the first game.
I found MotorStorm: Pacific Rift (sequel) to be one of the best racing games this gen. Who cares if it didn’t sell any copies (it spawned 4 games counting Apocalypse so I doubt it didn’t sell at all)? What matters is that it still is an amazing game, both visually and in gameplay. A bit worried about this one though because it reminds me of Split/Second, but with assistance from Naughty Dog (Uncharted) and Guerrilla Games (Killzone), I doubt it would be a disappointment.
As for Dead Space, I really loved the game. I actually skipped RE5 (this is coming from a guy who adored RE4) because of it. Incredibly creepy and atmospheric. And with PS3 users getting the “Limited Edition” (which includes Extraction, the once Wii-exclusive Dead Space title) as standard, it’s just irresistible.

The only thing I’m really worried about is that this is, in fact, a sequel. I agree with SkylineFaux: the first game was pretty good, though there’s room for improvement. Now, we’ve seen video game sequels that were as good as or surpassed the first installment. Uncharted 2, for example. But it’s abysmally easy for game developers to take the opposite path and completely ruin everything. It’s happened too often to too many franchises. I’m just hoping Sucker Punch knows what it’s doing.

i only liked screwing around on infamous1, but prototype was better at screwing around so it was better. Do not think the second infamous will be any better. so….

inFamous had an interesting game mechanic with the lightning and the parkour. But you’re praising the moral choice system? That was it’s biggest flaw :\
Moral choices have been around for a long enough time that you can’t just put one in the game and expect people to think “Oh cool. I get to chose stuff”. It’s almost EXPECTED that you have SOME level of choice in open world games these days. But inFamous’s system was one of the most black and white, boring and unimaginative systems I’ve ever seen.
“Hmmm… I could try and get enough rations for myself and my friends… Or I could kill everyone here and take all the rations!”
What? No “Sneak more rations than I need” or “Scare them away and delegate who gets what myself”? You might as well cut the bull and start giving choices like…
“Save this woman and her child? Or punch the child in the face and piss on their corpses?”
If you want to impress with moral choice, you need a little gray area…
As for Motorstorm? I never played any others… But the first one that I played had nothing. It had like… 5 tracks, 10 vehicles, and NO OTHER MODES. It was beyond sad.
Dead Space was good. But the idea of a sequel has no interest to me. So yes, that one is pure opinion.

What I liked about inFamous’ karmic system is the way the world changed. If you were a Hero, people would assist you on defeating enemies and if you were Infamous, people would throw rocks at you, increasing the hazards. I’ll agree though that it was flawed. The fact that you were pretty much locked in whatever karma you were was a bit disappointing.
About MotorStorm, the sequel vastly improved from the first one. 16 tracks with a ton of back routes and paths (not to mention, very vividly colored unlike the first one which had a main color scheme of brown), 8 vehicle classes each with lots of varying shells and skins, 4 player split-screen which handled pretty well, water cooling and fire heating boost mechanic and a topnotch online kept itself from ever being stale.

@Pyrotwister
Because it’s completely impossible that two people can have the same opinion without one of them stealing it from the other.
@SkylineFaux
Fable did the whole “People react to your alignment” ages ago. It’s still nothing impressive. You liked inFamous. That’s cool. I’m glad you enjoyed it. But from where I’m standing, it was nothing special, there were plenty of games that did what it did better, and I am not in any way looking forward to the sequel :\

Great news, people. Looks like inFAMOUS really is getting its well-deserved sequel.
New look, new weapon, new city, new enemies, and (for better or worse) new voice actor.
Oh, and it looks like we’re getting some ice powers as a bonus.
Sweet.
