It was becoming clear that there’s too much fan art out there to go on the Extras page, and too many borderline cases where there’s fancharacter-based art that we’re not sure whether to post or not.

The solution? Enter…

Candybooru!

So now we have a big repository of all the previous fanart, and all of you guys are welcome to contribute to it. It runs on Shimmie, the same software you see on Rule 34, and similar to the software used by Danbooru and Gelbooru.

POST BONUS:

Vero’s Ustream today produced a bunch of images that are in Candybooru under the Ustream tag, but there were two she did that weren’t BCB related enough SO HERE THEY ARE

The point of it is so that people can upload fanart for themselves if they really want it in a gallery of some sort because it used to take Souppy literally hours to get it posted in the format we do. Which is a huge waste of time.

I used to get some emails in which the person is all when will my fanart get posted in which the answer was uhhhhhhhhhhh

Janitors for Candybooru would be appreciated.

If you have time, please consider going through each page of the database and try to:

- Tag all characters in each image
- Tag artists if they’re missing\inconsistent with other artist tags
- Remove leftover filenames (like “mikesandylove”, these are leftovers from when I merged Candybooru with the fan art section)
- Remove “tagme” tags if it looks like everything is tagged
- Add “tagme” tags if you cannot identify characters or an artist
- Tag relationships like PauloXLucy, consistent with existing tags
- Tag comics with Comic
- Tag multi-page comics (for example, Oddguy’s comic) with “mergethis”, so that I can merge them in future
- Distinguish artists from characters by tagging artists with ambiguous names (i.e., “Lily” with “Lily_(Artist)”.) I have done some of this but might have made some errors.
- Standardise and pick useful content tags like “umbrella”, “romansuu”, etc

In addition to this, please let me know if you have any good ideas for aliases. These are automatic retagging things, so that if you type “Bridgeotto” for a search or new upload it will automatically correct it to “Kara-yasuragi”. Another alias I have made is “Mike” to “Michael”.

I am happy to grant admin access to anyone who wants to commit a lot of time to this. It allows you to search and replace tags, and add aliases directly. This is monotonous work, but it’ll be vastly more searchable if the tags are made lovely.

Yeah. Fill it in if you like but it’s far more important to get the other stuff right.

Use pre-existing tags where possible, otherwise pick what sounds best. The existing tags are visible in the tag cloud under “Tags”.

I went through and deleted 90% of the edits, as the policy we put up a few months should apply retrospectively. Your edits were both low on content and not funny enough, by the measure I was using.

As for the SSS thing, uh, I don’t know what happened to the second one! Reupload it, if it meets whatever has been written on the upload page.

The original one said “deleteme” and I also noticed you just uploaded the same image twice. I assumed the second one was an edited and better version, so I deleted the original.

King, I guess you could, but why keep a crappier inked version up when a coloured one is there to replace it? Candybooru isn’t really meant as a personal art archive, so it should only have the best version of a particular drawing.

Sammy, I guess it didn’t get added in the initial transfer, because it was too tall. Thanks for reminding me, I will find and add it.

Don’t worry, there’s a difference between inked pictures and coloured, I’d keep both. There wasn’t much difference with the pictures before. I assumed it was a double post.
