Here’s a quick and dirty log for those who are curious

Likely going to get some sort of cleaner logging program in the future for these. Nice one that color codes everyone’s name and makes it look neat~

The first game went a little slowly (though it was still light-speed compared to a forum game) but all the players enjoyed it considerably. Lets hope the later games go well too hm? ;p

=Player: Rasputin=
Character: Allistir Gaige. Feline Alchemist.

=Combat Stats=
HP: 15/15 FP:2
ATT:3 DEF:8 VIT:5

=RP-Attributes=
Bod:4
Agi:6
IQ:9
Per:7
Cha:8

=Special Moves=
Freeze: (Endothermic Reaction Apparatus, a glass flask, modified to carry two chemicals in separate compartments. When the flask shatters, the chemicals are combined and react in a manner that absorbs a great deal of heat from the surrounding area, thereby freezing the enemy (keeps them from acting next round). Allistir cannot attack during the same round he uses Freeze.)

Omni Boost: (Arcane Cocktail, a unique mixture of various extracts, medicines, and other chemicals that, when ingested, briefly increases a person’s strength, accuracy, agility, and awareness. Has a distinctly minty taste. (Add 2 sides to Allistir’s next attack roll and next defense roll. (Can be used at any time in the turn))

Second Chance (Dilute Elixir, a recipe derived from research into the Elixir of Life. It seems to affect only the most heavily injured of individuals. (Roll Allistir’s VIT stat and heal that amount upon his being defeated. One use per battle.))

=Quirks=
Expert-Lose Two points from your Combat Stats. Gain Four points in Role playing attributes.

Archer (Flask Slinger)-Gain a +2 Bonus to ATT/DEF when using a ranged weapon or avoiding one, but a -2 penalty when forced into melee.

Appearance: Grey striped tabby with amber eyes. Unusually tall—even for his breed—and lanky (has a bit more in the height department than even most dogs) but is otherwise unremarkable. Whiskers are often crinkly and unkempt due to his work. Is usually seen wearing a red single-breasted vest (waistcoat) over a white dress shirt, accompanied by a pair of light-brown slacks and black shoes. Wears suspenders under the vest. Has an affinity for trench coats, and so will usually wear one if the weather permits. Keeps a pocket watch in one of the front pockets of the vest. Topmost button of the undershirt is almost always undone in the absence of a necktie (which itself is rarely worn).

Who he is: Allister is an alchemist by trade, combining ancient knowledge of the supernatural with the budding discipline of science. Is well read on a great variety of subjects and is medically book-smart, but has received little practical training, making him more of a professor than a healer. Personality wise, Allistir is rather loyal to his party and generally to anyone he likes, more out of a sense of comradeship than anything like moral obligation or honor—or so he believes. Willing to employ underhanded tactics against anyone else, be it poisoning a water supply to soften up the enemy prior to battle, lifting silverware from a wealthy NCP’s home to sell for cash, or getting others with the necessary skills to do such things for him (though he usually takes care to check actions that may pose a real threat to the group. Unless he can get their permission, of course). Does have moments of moral clarity (especially on certain subjects) but is generally one to suggest (or support) the less savory of actions. Thinks of self as a sociopath-by-choice. Usually exhibits an affable demeanor that often keeps others conveniently off-guard. Since open combat isn’t his forte, he as much preferres diplomatic solutions as he does outright trickery, taking great delight when the two intersect.

Sorry I had to take off before we could get to the end of it. I’m glad we managed to save the village though.

Incidentally, I, too, will be running games I think, so we have a second gamemaster now. I won’t be running any until at least next week though, I think.

A summary of tonight’s test adventure. Note that this is somewhat written from Colm’s point of view, so it isn’t an entirely fair representation of events… but its what he’ll tell anyone who asks about it, and is mostly accurate. Note that I was not present for everything after the first set of bugs; Colm was autoplayed with some reference notes I gave Bribri from then until the end of the adventure. This is a summary of the log above.

I also have started writing up a character list of people that Colm knows/has adventured with, but that won’t be public as it contains notes about how Colm feels about people, what he trusts them to do, ect. and as such you won’t ever get to see it. So nyah.

Adventure 1 - Buggered (Colm, Amunet, Brock, Felix, Maximilian, and Syd)

The group was hired through the adventurer’s guild by a lord to find a bug which had been carrying off and eating the inhabitants of Sun-Oaks. The guild sent off a lot of its membership to fight some wizard to the south, so the team was thrown together, with none of the members really knowing each other well beforehand. Colm was designated as the leader of the group, and the others tended to defer to the well-spoken feline, though when he was not present he had difficulty in keeping them in heel.

After a few day’s travel, the party reached the town, only to be told that by the town guard that a local boy named Daniel had already slain the beast; the town looked very peaceful and quiet, and some of the inhabitants didn’t even seem to mind the light rain which was sprinkling on the town. The party decided to take a look at the thing’s head down at the local inn, and got a good look at the centipede mounted on the wall. Free drinks were being distributed by the barman due to his good fortune in Lacy, his daughter, having escaped the thing and no longer being in danger from it.

However, things were not as they seemed. Daniel, the boy who had killed the thing, seemed strangely subdued, and when Amunet more closely examined the head she realized it was not the head of the thing but actually a shed skin. Unfortunately, when Colm went outside to take care of business, and Syd went off to question the town guard about the whereabouts of Daniel’s father, the archer incited a drunken Brock to destroy the thing with his hammer, resulting in the entire inn becoming angry at them and the party being ejected angrily from the inn.

Colm, realizing the threat was still there, took the party to see Daniel and his father. While the rest of the party was quick to accuse Daniel of lying, Colm felt he was simply slow-witted and hadn’t realized that what he had “killed” was not the beast itself, but its shed skin. He managed to convince Daniel to accompany the group to where the creature had been found, and the group went with the blank-faced boy.

However, it was a trap - Daniel was actually being used as a skinsuit by one of the centipede like monsters, and two more attacked the group after the first one burst forth from his flesh; only a timely warning by Amunet prevented them from being taken completely by surprise. The group made short work of the things, and Colm, after checking everyone’s wounds for any sign of infestation, convinced the party to return to town in order to check the injured around town for any sign of being meat puppets for the things.

Unfortunately the townsfolk remembered the trouble at the inn and Colm was met at the door by a shovel to the face; an angry mob confronted the party, but they managed to convince the townsfolk that there were bugs controlling some of them, including Roger, Daniel’s father. While skeptical at first, Amunet quickly put two arrows into Roger, revealing him for what he was, and several other townsfolk erupted with the terrible monstrosities. After some fighting the party easily put the things down and became the toast of the town, getting free room and board at the inn until they left.

Once again for the record folks:I’ll be making an offical thread for this game Somewhere between Monday-Wednesday.

You guys don’t need to post your sheets here anymore~ Keep a hold of them for when we have a real thread up, without the ten hours of nerdy ranting and discussion to dig through.

Who made kills? was it really just me and Felix or did someone else get a kill somewhere?
Also do you mind if we change our characters a bit now that we’ve had a chance to test them out in actual comat?

MiwAuturu August 8, 2010, 4:35 PM EST.

Comment ID #71948

Yes you’re free to change them a little if you want~ And yes.. it was mostly you and Felix who made the kills, you guys had the best ATT in the group and decent rolls with

….but the others still pulled their own weight. Colm buffed, Brock tanked, Syd and Max played their part in whittling the bad-guys down (Though Max’s terrible rolls crippled him a little. It happens to all of us~)

I would note Miw I plan on changing the ‘Never miss’ power a little after watching you use it in game. More or less it’s going to be a reactionary power now. You won’t need to state your using it when you attack and can simply go ‘I’m activating Never miss!’ -after- you missed. Rather then activating it before the rolls, only to discover you would have hit anyway when the targets first DEF roll is low anyway.

It will still ignore DEF-Sm’s if present, but the target wont be treated as having spent them. Makes it over all a more practical PM.

Hehe Brock
But yeah, mostly I was just considering using “Second Wind” instead of “Absorb” I feel it would be more useful. Even if it could be useless I was content with “Never Miss”

So, did the system work out okay for you guys? I was thinking of gathering up all the system-specific rules into an easy to read (printable) manual PDF that you guys could more easily share together. I can also format it like an RPG rulebook, too - I’ve been learning a lot about graphic design and layouts lately.
