It sounds like to me that you need to do something to show them that you really want this. Nothing drastic, but something to show both of them that you are serious.

She might be afraid of getting hurt, and her brother might be thinking the same thing too. It really just depends, sorry I can’t help more. :\ I feel like I’m generalizing you and your friends lives when i don’t really know your situation.

And something that no one really wants to do even though it might be the best thing is to sit down and talk to them. Go to her brother first and explain to him what you want. Then see if he will help you get her to listen to you instead of just writing you off.

I agree with La Commie, bring it up, don’t be too drastic or dramatic. But if the brother is firmly against the idea ignore him, odds are he’s being overprotective and if this is the case I think he will warm up to it eventually. If the brother is just being an asshole who is against the idea for the sake of being against the idea there is nothing you can do to change that should still ignore him. Worry more about what she thinks…at which point I can only refer to La Commie’s advice…
