«Another hill?» exclaimed Xochitl, with a childish giggle. «The last one was fun! I want to try again.»
Her visage shining with joy, she swiftly braided herself a crown of daisies, buttercups and forget-me-nots, and put it on. Then, she rose from her meadow and turned towards the hill in the distance. It was miles upon miles away, but that was nothing to the little girl; she would just skip alongside the deer and fly with the swallows, swim with the fishes and run with the wind in her hair, and the trip would be over before she knew it.
Jon, meanwhile, was feeling a bit bored. He did not really care about the hill, and so he was stuck up there until somebody took over.
He looked down. Strangely, that upset his stomach. Surely this protrusion had not been this high yesterday? The ground appeared to be far away from him.
As he glanced around, he also noticed something else that was strange. A few rocks had struck out of the grass, rocks that he had not seen before. And why did it seem… darker?
Jon shrugged it off. It must be my imagination playing tricks on me, he decided. He yawned broadly, stretched, and decided to sleep for a while. All will look better after some sleep…
He woke suddenly, his eyes wide open despite his tiredness. Something had nudged him in the back of the head…
Jon turned, and saw that a rock was rising up where his caput had been mere seconds prior. Was it true, then? Did the hill really… grow like that? But that was impossible…
A sound pulled him away from the distressing prospect of being a prisoner on the crag. He looked around, and there, not far away, was a… a young girl in a long green cape?
He rose, and shouted towards her: «Hey! Do you want this hill?»
The girl stopped, having reached the foot of the cliff. «Aww, I don’t get to fight you for it? No fair,» she replied.
Nonetheless, she bounced up the hillside and approached Jon, all while beaming broadly at him. «But all right, I wanted it anyway.»
«Thank you,» said the other. «… Aren’t you gonna claim it?» He glanced nervously at her.
Xochitl tilted her head, and stared at him for a while. «Why claim it? It’s MY HILL, after all.»
Jon disappeared.
(400 words, quite exactly. ^_^)
