Ground Zero Mosque time :T

Comment ID #77189

Not because I actually want to get too deep into this, but I don’t see it getting brought up. Mostly though, someone brought this up on another forum I visit. And oh gosh, if some asswipe did not imediately get into how it was “wrong, Anti-American, and overall, DISGUSTING!”

Some people just shouldn’t even be aloud to open their fat mouths.

Anywho, what’s your take on the whle shebang? For it, against it?

Ground Zero, as in where the Twin Towers fell on 9/11. They want a mosque built nearby. HUGE contreversy over it, yadda yadda.

oh.
the religion and terrorism are seperate. who gives a shit.
and it reminds me of christians building churches in the middle east after the crusades. THAT was irony.

I’m generally against the idea of a Mosque being built on ground zero. In more the sense of insult to injury. I’m not overtly religious or any of that shit, never even pay attention to my own religion. I’ve heard mosques were usually built in places of great conquest (I suppose much like what happened during the crusades and churches being built) So to me it seems disrespectful, a spit in the face, to all the people who lost families/loved ones in the 9/11 incident. I wouldn’t call it ‘anti-american’ but I don’t like the idea of one being built THERE of all places.

its only a spit in the face if you link terrorists to islam. mosques WERE built in places of great conquest because the people were fighting over that area for a reason, and to remember the people from both sides who died there.
i link the word terrorism to christianity personally.skinheads and all.

plus if they avoided that area, they would just be being overly sensitive.

kazimierz (kazi) August 17, 2010, 4:00 AM EST.

That’s usually why I stay out of religious disputes, because the people of my own religion are fucking retarded and use the religion as some ‘I’m better than thou’ tactic against everyone who isn’t christian. I don’t care if mosques get built, it just makes me a little uneasy to have one built there is all. I’m sure I won’t really care one way or another, but just thought I’d put my two cents in for now.

Actually the Area conquered by the crusaders was largely Christian until the Muslims invaded and began converting people to Islam. So there is no irony present. It’s just politics and religion, things best avoided when talking with strangers.

And you guys are getting stranger and stranger.

i love talking about politics and religion!
i made a grown man cry with my understanding of his inner mind. i just hope he takes my advice.
and there is irony.islam came and converted, christianity did the same. its like a military game of catch.

kazimierz (kazi) August 17, 2010, 4:18 AM EST.

Comment ID #77242

and scarfy, your being too sensitive about religion. islam and
al qheda and the rest of them are seperate

kazimierz (kazi) August 17, 2010, 4:20 AM EST.

Comment ID #77247

What irony? The crusades began while Islam was still in the process of conquering and subduing the region (I include the remnants of the byzantine Empire for conveniences sake).

It was like a game of catch where a quarterback came in and intercepted the ball, punched one of the guys in the face, dropped it, and ran off being chases by a mob of kids with swords.

Not ironic, but funny enough.

I’m not really being too sensitive, I’m just non confrontational, or try to be. I avoid arguments as best as I can :\

Scarfy August 17, 2010, 4:27 AM EST.

bad idea scarfy, confrontation is good.
and if i recall, the kids with swords were kidnapped by pirates and sold into slavery.

Republicans heavily oppose this and seem to be planning on making the a big issue in the November elections. Ridiculous, I hope it destroys them

the republicans have too many idiots supporting them in the country. they will be powerful for at least another 50 years….

I think they shouldn’t build a Mosque and should instead build a giant bounce house. Then if a plane crashes into it, it will just bounce off and everyone will be a-okay.

And it’ll be pretty fun to bounce in.

unless the plane has a propeller on the front. then they`re all screwed.

@Kazi: I though you lived in Canada? Sheesh the South? I’m really sorry. The moms half of my family is mostly liberal, the dads half is mostly conservative, my parents are both moderate, I have a very interesting family :)
