Which BCB character do you identify with most?

Comment ID #78231

Hey all. My first day on the forums and after ready through the comic (i just found it last week. Love it) and it got me to thinking. This comic does a great job of showing the typical struggles of teenage life, making it easy for readers to relate one way or another. So my question to all of you is simple:

Which of the BCB cast do you relate to the most and why?

I would have to say Mike for me. He seems like a really softspoken guy who sometimes has trouble understanding and expressing his emotions.

Also, Hes got alot of issues that he tries to keep under wraps, which usually ends up comming back to bite him in some way.

Thats my answer, whats yours?

… All of them? ^_^

But to compile a list (it’s changed slightly since the first time we discussed this topic here):

Lucy - I used to be quite like her, and I still am, only the violence she has depicted lies far back into the past for me. I’m a good girl now ^_^
Michael - because he often seems confused and out of place. You have no idea how that speaks to me.
Daisy - I’m happy. Extremely so. ^_^
David - because he’s flighty-headed, clumsy and overall a bit slow on the uptake.
Abbey - I had some similar problems to what he had, although my backstory is not nearly as depressing. And, I turned into a “second Daisy” afterwards. ^_^
Tess - well, I have also been alienated. Partly because of something I did.
Lily - guess. ^_^
McCain - he’s logical to a fault, and keeps on being so even if everyone’s furious at him. I have a bit of the same problem.
Zachary - hee. I just put him here because misunderstandings (and the difficulty of resolving them) are regular visitors in my life. ^_^
Sue - somehow I can relate to her honesty and perseverance. Besides, I know what it’s like to be ignored.
Molly/Chirpy - childlike innocence and positivity. Need I say more? ^_^
Paulo -
Amaya - actually, I relate quite as much to her as to Daisy. In real life, I tend to be silent and to hide in the background (hard to believe, is it not). Plus, we share a favourite facial expression: ^_^

Mike, one because of the long distance relationship with Sandy and two, because he’s the kind of guy tht’s open and always willing to make friends, at times taking in the “special” cases such as Lucy.

He’s honest with himself and to others, turning down Lucy i thought was one of the most moving moments of the comic, because he was willing to turn down a girl that he had always been there for and always had by his side, because he KNEW that his love was with Sandy and that he’d be lying to both himself and Lucy had he accepted it fo what it was.

I would probably do he same thing should a LONG ime gret friend of mine done the same thing. I would reject her not because i found the idea unlikeable, but because i knew it woudn’t be fair for her nor would it be for my long distance girlfriend.

All the relationship hoo-haa aside, mike just reminds me of myself through his kind actions and willingness to do what is right.

@spacemouse: I wouldn’t call being honest being heartless. He had every reason to turn down Lucy, it wouldn’t have been real love had he accepted knowing he stil had Sandy.
