I COULD HAVE DIED!

Comment ID #78275

So today while I was driving, I fell asleep. Nothing new there, it happens from time to time without anything major happening. However, this time was different. I started to veer out of my lane and when I woke up, my car was spinning. I was freaking out. I was driving at 80mph, and I had no idea what was going on. Lucky for me, there were no cars near me and I didn’t hit the sign that was the first thing I saw. The car nearly toppled over, but it stopped safely on the side of the road. The worst thing that happened was that my drink spilled over and I got a flat tire.

Have any brushes with death lately?

yikes that freaky. I’ve had a few.

A few months back the brakes gave out on my care just as traffic was locking up on the freeway. I swerved to the far right and almost made it to the side. Unfortunately, i sidswipped a car that was trying to get on the exit ramp. Coulda been worse.

And just last week i was climbing up a rock face to get to a good spot to dive into the river when one of the rocks slipped. If i hadnt caught the branch of a tree next to me it could have ended badly.

A few months ago, me and my friend decided to cross a road that was between us and our destination. While we were crossing the road, a car decided that we weren’t there and sped past us. It was scary.

So one day I wanted to cross the street, a very transited one. So I was waiting on the very edge of it, waiting for cars to stop coming so I could cross to the other side. I was just looking forward at the moment, but then I noticed something weird coming from the limits of my sight, I turned to the right and saw a truck coming at me at a very high speed, almost getting on the sidewalk (probably 2 inches away from it). ‘Oh fuck!’ I thought, and jumped backwards, going back on the sidewalk. I then saw the truck passing right in front of me.

My friend’s boyfriend ran off the road today but managed to stop just before hitting the fence post, and someone pulled in front of us and deliberately slammed on his brakes to try to run us off the road.

I feel asleep I guess while driving on I-10, going like 90 in the left lane. I then noticed that I was hitting the grooves to wake people up, then somehow swerved to the right lane, rolled over like 4 times and landed upright to safely take off my seatbelt an exit the car.

My neck was abit sore the next day. My car was completely smashed inward and totaled though…

Well, let’s see… My mom once had pneumonia, my younger brother experienced a brief moment of drowning in milk. And me… Well, I ate some undercooked cake. So far I feel fine.

Lucky I didn’t I guess?

When I was a kid, I almost drowned thanks to a friend of mine who was horse-playing with me in the pool. I was flailing my arms around, thinking that he’d get the message. He finally let go of me after a few seconds and I was gasping for air.

This other one happened just last night. We were coming home from a dinner and took EDSA, thinking it was not traffic anymore (it was around 10:45PM) but it was. So yeah, everyone in the road was in first gear except for the bus lane, which was relatively empty. Some time later, a car came in from the bus lane and attempted to cut in to the normal lanes. With everyone in first gear, cutting in wasn’t exactly fast. Suddenly, two buses were going full speed (around 60-70 KMH) in the bus lane. One of them was literally just inches away from hitting the car that was attempting to cut in. My dad even let out a curse word on how close it was. You can just imagine how ugly it would’ve been if they collided.

Man… The number of stories I could tell…

I’ll go with one no one in the world knows about (which is odd when you concider I was with a couple of friends at the time)

We were at my artist friend’s mansion out in the epicenter of bum-fuck nowhere, and we decided to go for a midnight dip in his pool. On all accounts a fine idea… For the most part…

After tossing a few pool ‘toys’ like pool noodles and floatation beds in the water, we jumped in and splashed about like the moronic teenagers we were. After a time, I decided to dive off the side and onto the floatation bed thing, in the hopes of skimming across the water on it.

The problem with this plan, was that the thing had a large hole at one end, presumably for your head to rest in… Well, my arms, placed together above my head in true diving pose, slid right into that hole, causing the srip of rubbery plastic crap the thing was made of to catch me around the throat and close my airways, as the whole bed flipped over, sticking me bobbing almost vertically upside down in the water, unable to right myself due to the boyancy of the bed, and unable to gasp for breath the few times I flailed my face above the water due to my windpipe being constricted.

My friends took no notice of my flailing, and I began to black out. I couldn’t even pull the thing away from my neck due to my arms more or less being tied together at the shoulders.

Just as I’d started to give up and pass out, I rolled JUST the right way, and slipped out of the thing’s grip. I surfaced gaspping for air, and once I had composed myself, noticed that my friends had spent the whole time discussing the philosophy of something or another. I tried to tell them what just happened, but the ignored me.

And to this day, I’ve not thought to bring it up with anyone, since it’s just another notch in the long line of things that have failed to kill me.

I was shot in the heart once…

Had a 1/14 probability of surviving the surgery, and a 1/16 probability of fully recovering.

As soon a I woke up, I looked my dad right in the eye and said, “You honestly don’t think I’m gonna die that easily, do ya?”

Worst I had was when I was at my cousins’ apartment pool years ago. I think I was like… 9, maybe? Anyhow, I decided to jump into the deep end of the pool with my goggles on. The goggles slipped down over my mouth and nose, and since they were adjusted, I couldn’t breathe. I flailed about, and made it back to the edge of the pool. No one even noticed me. I didn’t try to stop and take the goggles off until I was at the edge, though, because I thought I’d sink.. I’ve been more careful about swimming since then. ^.^;;

Though, another one could be when my house filled with smoke about a year or two ago, when our fireplace broke.. The house didn’t catch on fire, as that part didn’t break, but rather the pipe that brought the smoke out of the house broke. We had to sit outside in a cold car at night. D:

Nothing like that happened to me, but my cousin got hit by a car several months back. He was riding across the road on he’s bike instead of walking, and even though he had the right of way, a driver didn’t see him, and hit him. He was launched from his bike and landed in the other lane, where he got run over. Plus, he was conscious the whole time, and said he even felt the two tires go over him. To make it even freakier, me and my mom were driving home from a grocery store, and saw the ambulance, but we didn’t see him, so we didn’t find out till later that evening. He’s fully recovered now, at least.

well closest i have been is once i was yabby fishing with my grandfather and there was this big ass brown snake. Im Australian and brown snakes are one of those ones that if they bite you, you are in real trouble.

Also another time i was snorkeling in some natural spring ponds around where i live and a huge snake swam in the water a meter or so in front of me, kinda scary
