“Negative” is not always the direct opposite. Rather, it often refers to “distortion” in the sense that you use it, honey. ^_^

Besides, anything that stands in opposition to me must, logically, be my opposite. Therefore, the term “negative” is justified in both meanings - the “clones” negate my own personality. ^_^

Incorrect. Mathematically and philosophically, “negative” does refer to the opposite, and not just something that opposes. I would be you opponent, but not your opposite, because I do not stand against you in all respects of you personality and being. For instance we both share a well developed faculty for logic and an enjoyment of a good argument.

A mere distortion such as me would not qualify as a Negative you. Maybe an Alter-you or you through the looking glass, but not a negative. And Websters disagrees with you on the distortion angle as well as the OED.

While I do appreciate Webster’s view, I still believe quite firmly that a negative often refers to a distortion - although, I admit, in a more colloquial sense. Mind you, if we were to apply the same idea to the use of “distortion”, that term would not really fit in this context, either. The word “scramble” would be far more appropriate, since that is what my so-called clones have been doing. ^_^

In the mathematical sense, yes, a negative would not be an opponent. Philosophically, however, it is. To take up a contrary position would be to stand as both an opponent and an opposite, because you will, invariably, have to disregard some aspects of an entity if you try to be a perfect negative. Even BLI was not a complete opposite of me, but to all intents and purposes they all - philosophically - were just that. ^_^
