Well in this poem the mother is in love with each of her three sons, and goes as nutter as to create these “maidens” for her sons. And the all go down hand in hand down the eternal road while gold glistens to each side (I’m quoting in English because I can’t be arsed to look at my Irish book now)

Gaelic is the broad term for all the Languages in the British Isles.

The main ones are Breton, Scottish, Irish, Welsh, and Cornish but there’s many more. And just like everything in these Islands there’s 2 main divides that’s why Irish is similar to Scottish but completely different from Welsh.

They’re all a bunch of dead languages the parliaments force you to learn instead of Latin. The fun thing is that Irish colonies in Boston and other places in the USA learn an Irish dialect which hasn’t been spoken in over 100 years in the Emerald Isle. And more Britons speak Irish on average than the Republicans.

@ Pronkat: See, I didn’t even know Irish was its own language. All I knew was that there was a language called Gaelic and it was heavily implied to me, first, to be completely dead and, later, to be on the verge of extinction. EVERYTHING I KNOW IS WROOOONG.

In half a year, I’ll be able to speak Hebrew to people who approach me. That’ll be fun. ^_^

I can do English and a little French. Jessie? Speaks Dutch, Arabic, English and German fluently, and a smattering of Spanish and I have no idea what else. (When she gets sleepy or talks in her sleep, she speaks Dutch. It’s adorable.)

She has the most poly’d glot I’ve ever known.

I know someone who speaks Norwegian, English, Arabic, Hebrew, Syrian, Greek, Arameic and German, and also a little bit of other semittic and Indoeuropean languages. I’m amazed he never lapses into the wrong language from time to time. ^_^

I used to read every kind of philosophy book I could get my hands on, then every kind of modern literature book, and now I’m building a science fiction library. I figure everyone else is keeping a close eye on the other things, why not be a historian of fandom?

On an unrelated note: I had the single most offensive thought of my entire life today. It is so offensive I cannot bring myself to repeat it, and nobody capable of inducing shame in me will ever know what it is.
