Hee. No, that is a difference. But the way I see it, you cannot hate people for what they failed at if they tried. ^_^

If it is brought up as a point that differentiates Michael from Lucy, then the only thing that actually was otherwise (ontologically) is that she was unable to save him. She also made a sacrifice, a sacrifice that is both stronger (her life was more at stake) and weaker (it was for naught). Mike was not the better man for what he did, neither was Lucy’s actions for the worse - I see no actual difference. Except, of course, if we go deep into the reasoning behind, in which case there might be equal albeit distinct wrongs with both parties.

Oh well. I cannot really explain it either way. ^_^

Hmm… Mike I must say I really like him he’s a good character, he is one of my favorites in this comic. But he kinda has been a jerkface recently, however so has Lucy; Mike has his own life and he can’t just drop it for Lucy like she expects him to. This expectation (among other things) has caused him to be angry with her but I think his feelings are still there, but he’s confused he cares about both Sandy and Lucy (Even though I don’t get why you could care about someone who doesn’t get your name right) so he doesn’t know what to do and Lucy and the others have been putting a lot of pressure on him recently so her confessing her love made him release his pent up anger and explode at Lucy.

He is still angry over this he just needs a cool down period to think things through; Yes he was a bit harsh but he was pushed into it and it had been bottled up for a long time. Also Sandy has never asked him for anything she is just there and simple unlike Lucy who asks a lot so she seems to be a better choice for him in his mind at this time. However Lucy and Mike’s friendship isn’t over and neither is their possible relationship, but due to the recent developments it’s hit a rocky patch things will get better but it will take time and probably get worse first.

So no he’s not an asshole he’s a teenager going through teenage issues and trying to deal with them the best he can.

Just my two cents on the matter.

Edit:
To add on to this I forgot to mention Lucy. Lucy isn’t being understanding she will have to let this whole thing and change a lot if Her and Mike are ever going to fix their friendship.

He’s not an asshole, he’s just going through a lot of crap. Life is full of choices and Mike is going through a lot of stress trying to figure out which is the wise decision. He could either:

a) Focus on Sandy and try to make her come back to him, even if she’s on the other side of the world

or

b) Move on and score with Lucy, no matter how much verbal abuse she put on him.

What makes it even more difficult for him is that he knew both of them since childhood. Sandy was the first to say the 3 magic words to Mike. Lucy confessed to him later on in the comic. So pretty much what I’m trying to say is Sandy and Lucy both spoke said 3 magic words to him. Mike just has to choose who he’s going to love back. Like i said: Life is full of choices. I rest my case!

But… Mike made it very clear that he can’t think of anything including Lucy.
I don’t think he (right now) has these two choices, because he simply doesn’t consider going for Lucy (and I repeat, he doesn’t now, this doesn’t mean he might later on).

Of course he cares about her, but that’s because he is a good guy.
And he knows how dependent she is (or was) on him.

He’s a teenager and he’s pissed, teen’s say stupid things and make stupid choices when angry. He may think that now but not mean it or he may think it an mean it I wouldn’t know I’m not the person who writes this stuff just a fan lol. We will all find out the resolution in time.

Only under some particular circumstances, No?

He’s a teenager. And a guy. And he has a girlfriend he really loves, but lives Miles away, and a close friend, which loves him very much (and have a crush on him), but he don’t love her as much as his girlfriend. He have a lot of choices. And He don’t know which one to pick. He’s just a confused teenage boy. not an asshole.

Well, that’s only my opinion, of course.
