Bittersweet Candy Bowl

So you have a PS3, and you love BCB huh?

Well I made a little something for all of you…



A BCB Theme for your PS3!

(The theme is currently in Version 1.0)

I made the background on the go so you’re free to replace it for whatever you want.

Get it here!

Installation instructions:

1.- Download the file.
2.- Place the file in a USB memory. It should be in a folder named ‘Theme’, which should also be in a folder named ‘PS3’. Ex:

N:\PS3\Theme\PS3Theme_bittersweet.p3t

3.- Insert the USB memory in a USB slot in your Playstation 3 system.
4.- Go to Settings > Theme Settings > Theme > Install
5.- Select the theme you want to install and press X on your PS3 controller.
6.- Once installed, you can apply the theme under Settings > Theme Settings > Theme > Bittersweet Candy Bowl > Apply
7.- Please wait… enjoy!

I suggest changing the background brightness to -1. This can be done under Settings > Theme Settings > Background > Brightness > -1.

…Wow… if only I had a ps3.

For some reason trying to download it directly to your PS3 doesn’t work…Megaupload doesn’t like the console browser I guess…

I don’t think you can install it like that nameless. It reads custom themes from the USB memory.

Make one for the psp too

Just got it installed. I have to say, this is one of the best themes in terms of quality. I’m not kidding, it even beats the official ones sold or DL’d in the PSN store. And I’m not saying that just because I love BCB.

The icons are clean and all of the icons are themed. I was even surprised to find the Minis icon sporting the BCB theme because it’s an icon most themes do not change. The cat outlines are also a nice touch in place of the normal smileys the PS3 default theme uses.

The default background isn’t bad either. I did change it though, to SpaceMouse’s coloring job of Abbey and Daisy’s first kiss

That being said, there are a few gripes. There are some icons wherein the white strokes “bleed”. That and some of them are pretty rough on the edges. Also, you could’ve chosen better colors for the Storage Device icon or used alternating/different colors on the icons to make it more vibrant.

That being said, this is a really nice theme. Even if it didn’t have the BCB theme on it, I’d like it for its cleanliness, completeness and simplicity.

I wish i had a PS3 T-T But, soon…SOON! Also is not a bad idea to make one for the PSP…i’ll go back to my old theme software for PSP and i’ll see a way to make it one…humm…where did i left that program…

@Skyline: Yeah, I also noticed the bleeding in the icons. Its pretty much the Settings section, something went wrong and didn’t really save the source of the images so I couldn’t modify them. =(

Don’t worry, it’s in my future plans to solve that problem, though I will have to redo all of those.

Also, regarding the gray icons, those are icons that are reused for different sections, so I couldn’t really paint them an specific color (if I painted it blue and also appeared inside a green menu it would look out of place). Another color I considered for the icons that are reused was pink, perhaps I should try that one and see how it looks.

Also, regarding the icons that most themes don’t change: I FEEL YOU MAN! It took me a while to figure out how to change those. Guess most people didn’t make that effort. =P

And yeah the background… I’m looking to make a better one. I just copied and pasted stuff into it to make a temporary background, so that the theme wouldn’t be so empty.

@The rest of you: Well, I’m glad that you liked the theme. And since a lot of people are asking for it… guess I will make a PSP theme as well, once the PS3 one has been polished enough. Thanks for your support!

Also, for the ones asking for an XBOX theme… I don’t have one, sorry. =P

Pink would be appropriate. You could go for a bright orange or a pale red as well

What I meant about the color of the icons is that you could’ve added more color variation to them instead of reusing the green, purple and blue hue found in the BCB logo. But hey, it looks good as it is

Sadly my PS3 isn’t finding a theme on my memory stick…is this theme on a site other than Megaupload by any chance? Perhaps I can download it directly…

I guess it doesn’t work with memory stick nameless. =P

dont x-boxes just die within about 3 years of buying them? why do they still buy those when Miscrosoft technology is outdated

@Hyper: Plan to do this for PSP, not sure it can be done for wii though, and if it can be done I have no idea how.

Unfortunately the Wii does not have a changeable background, so you couldn’t do it.

Well, you could use the background image as a wallpaper if I posted it as an image. The background itself is part of the theme and as far as I know there’s no way to get it out of the installer file.

Luckily I have the originals. =)

Are you able to make a PsP BCB theme? Or have you only been able to make the PS3 so far?

I am able, I assume its pretty much the same thing, however I haven’t felt like it, yet.

I’m probably gonna need a copy of the background picture for Paulo.
